Yeah! I’m so excited! I went to a skatepark in Japan a few weeks ago and I had a session with like, 7 girls. I thought it was awesome to see them out there skating.
We are watching history in the making every single contest with these girls! NBDs are being done almost every comp. Were watching girls progression in hypespeed in real time. Most of these girls arent even close to thier full skills yet. These are exciting times for the growth of skateboarding.

Right!?!?! Did you see the ages in comparison to the men? Oldest woman was 23.

It got me thinking about Olympics, specifically gymnasts. The age spread is similar, where women compete at the highest levels much earlier than men, and they also don’t carry their careers as late into adulthood as men. (I’m going off years of anecdotal evidence, I have no citations.) I’m hoping to see all these female skaters doing even better in 10 years, and still able to crush it after another 10, but time will tell.

this is why I watch this rather than the men, this is so exciting every single time.
dang chloe really pulled off that switch flip she is indeed special. I really wanted it for momiji because she's one of my favorite skaters.
Ah yes. A full month later we get a version that can actually be watched. Most people couldn't even get Rumble to work. It took me several days of buffering & reloading to get through the contest.

Super awesome skating . Go girls
Momiji lost by 1.3 points, so it really came down to whether the judges docked points for the toe drag on Chloe's 50-50 kickflip out. It's arguable either way

@@skateboyelement Yeah that was years ago.. I was rooting for their progression back then (well here we are now) but it was kind of embarrassing back in 2012 watching womens skateboarding events. Ten years and it's progressed massively, great to watch and relatable. Hugely technical skateboarders, outside of contest a lot of them have great tricks. Funa does ollie late back foot flips up gaps. Momiji posted on her instagram a nose slide nollie 270 heel out
Rayssa ❤
Amazing!!! That 9 club was well deserved, but that fifty kickflip out with that pretty agressive toe drag getting an 8.8, comparing to the clean back tail down the eleven of Rayssa getting an 7.2? Not fair in my opinion! What do you guys think?

Tailslide def got a low score, but I completely disagree that imperfect landings should be docked. I think they were doing the right thing in early SLS: if the landing was very dirty, the docked it hard, the trick could get like a 5 that would've gotten a 9 if landed perfectly; but otherwise dirty landings weren't docked at all and got a full score. I like that much more. Skateboarding is not gymnastics. It's hard, it's sketchy, and sometimes sketchiness can look even cooler than a perfect trick. E.g. I'm surprised by Malto's commentary on some of the imperfect landings. Chloe's switch flip had a powerslide, so what? It's so much sicker to see that she landed it first try while not having it on lock like a robot! Thankfully the judges agreed here and didn't lower the score at all.

They robbed funa so hard, at another sls she did a nosebluntslide they docked so many points from her and she didn’t even toe drag she was just wobbly.. she lost to Leal by like 0.3, when she deserved maybe 2 more points.
A maioria falando que seria bacana se a Momiji vencesse, porém, a Chloe passou por tantas dificuldades lá em Chicago, quase chorou! Foi bacana ver ela dar a volta por cima!
noooooooooooo!! momiji 😭😭
1:03:07 Man Momiji is the queen of steeze and such a technical skater (that crook nollie heel was insane) but I feel so bad for her when she started crying. she really wanted to be First but also tried to be a good sportswoman. She was rooting for chloe but you could tell it was so hard on her to be bumped off first place. 1:03:28 she can barely compose herself 1:03:58 was so hard for me to watch you can see she's in anguish after celebrating for Chloe but realising she missed out on 1st again.

@@thallrudedjentstorm1756yea I don’t agree with giving her the trophy before announcing she won, kind of disrespectful to Momiji. As for her trick, it wasn’t just a kick flip , she did it switch down an 11 stair…for women that’s huge. I don’t think it would be scored that high if it was men’s. I think if they would’ve docked Chloe’s toe drag from her previous trick Momiji would have won for sure!
It’s incredible how the women have progressed these last few years , absolutely amazing , so good to watch , it’s fantastic for the sport , can’t wait for the future to see more , brilliant 😎

Age plays a part in it. How many 13 year olds can switchflip? How many of them could do it on this stage under this pressure? There's only a handful of skaters at our local parks that can make the flip down a gap.
@backstabbingpotato
9 ай бұрын
so if a 16 year old does a switchflip it should get scored lower? No way thats the case (should be the case) in a SLS contest.
@deadbeat-vc9kg

@@backstabbingpotato I didn't say it should, but it appears that it does.
Judging is poor 7.2 for a bs tailslide and 8.8 for a 50/50 flip
7.2 Backtail down 11? Did they meant to type 8.2 and got it wrong? SLS scoring is just wack overall but never to this level.
move over Rayssa. Well done Chloe!!!
Only a couple of them are actually good. But their biggest issue is they need to quit getting off their board. They loose time and momentum when they do.

It was a switch kick flip, it wouldn’t be a 9 if it were the men’s finals. Because it’s women’s and it was down a big set and it wasn’t done previous by her or other skaters is why it scored so high.
