Maybe you can rent a Pathfinder next time which has a V6 engine that would sound better for you. Keep in mind that your Rogue was a rental which probably was abused by previous drivers. I have a 2012 Rogue that looks just fine for me and is still going strong with the CVT at 120,000 miles. If you take care of a car, it will last.

This rogue is far different from the previous ones, as it has a variable compression turbo 3 cylinder. I've been in previous Rogues they sounded normal, this was way different.

My 2012 rogues transmission blew at 120k… I was on an 8 hour road trip

I have same and Eco mode gives you the calmness you need, Standard mode gives you a sporting feel the more you step on the gas, the sports mode gives you the sporting feel and that noise, but moves you quickly

Could be bad gas, but probably redlining a brand new car wasn’t such a good idea.

First, it’s not an xterra, and second, the engine sound is supplemented through the stereo.
