2023 N Scale Convention Home Layout Tours
This video covers the home layout tours of the 2023 N Scale Convention in Reno / Sparks, Nevada. There were AM/PM layout tours on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday of the convention. Some of the Saturday layouts were dropped due to conflicts but NSE made it right by offering a full or partial refund. I took the partial refund and went on the one layout that was offered for the Saturday tour. There were some amazing layouts to be seen and some that you can tell the modeler(s) were just enjoying the hobby of model railroading.
I hope you enjoy seeing the layouts from the convention tours! Tony

No problem at all. Glad to share them with those that could not attend and those who want to relive the tours if they were able to attend. ~Tony
Love that Denver and Rio Grand layout!
I am glad this came up . KZread hasn't been sending notifications on your videos.

I'm not sure what KZread has changed but this is not the first time that some of my videos aren't getting out there like they normally do. Probably because I don't follow some of their creators' ideas to generate more views or ads. To me, if you are subscribed you should get the notifications but I guess KZread knows best. I'm glad you were able to find it and hope you enjoyed it! ~Tony

Yes, all of the layouts were impressive in their own way and it was nice the layout owners were willing to open them up to share with the N Scale Convention attendees. Just a side note that the first layout in the video was HO, not N scale. ~Tony
Tony, thanks for sharing your trip and the convention with us. I really enjoy your channel and content. I’m a CNW modeler but I have a soft spot for the Rock. I grew up in the Chicago area so saw quite a bit of the Rock as a kid.

Thanks, Collin. It is always a great time to see what someone else is doing in the hobby. Plus inspiring to come home to my own layout to keep working away on it. ~Tony
Wonderful time! Unfortunately it looked like a bunch of folks wanderings about looking a scenery and waiting for a train to move.😢

👍👌
After seeing the first layout, my idea of building a dual gage N and H.O. modular layout isn't so crazy. after all. I'm doing it because i collect both scales and i can take advantage of both sizes in the way of forced perspective in a limited amount of space.
16:36 love the “MFJ”!
Thanks for showing these. I did the Friday/Saturday tours, and looks like I was really missing out on the Wednesday ones.

When comes to layout tours you take what you can get. There were many nice layouts but a few more N scale ones would have been great! ~Tony

Impressive layout but hot all N scale as title said
Nice layouts, but doesn’t anyone model in N scale in Nevada?

The one N scale layout that was offered on a tour I did not sign up for. I understand what you are saying, though. For an N Scale Convention, it would be great if more N Scale layouts would be offered to be toured. However, having set up layout tours before for an NMRA Convention you take the ones that are willing to open up their homes. ~Tony
Wow! Very nice Video Tony, The first layout took up a lot of real estate and I would hate to be in charge of track cleaning. They all looked good and looks like you had a good time. Stay well.

This layout must be the largest private layout I've seen so far. Jawdropping to be honest. I assume there are several trains in charge of keeping the tracks clean. One of the easiest ways to keep track in good condition is to avoid traction tires. I hate them as they smear their debris all over the place and cars pick them up making maintenance an even more time consuming task.

@@jurigelato4366 Yes, even in the construction stages it was awe-inspiring. Just looking at the wall with the extra throttles, 18 to 20 operators could be busy for several hours at a time. It was great to see. ~Tony
Thanks Tony for sharing. I’m amazed at the size of these home layouts. Was the owner of the first layout a lone wolf builder? Personally I liked the last layout the best. I’m a 4x8 Nscaler modeling the Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad in the late 60’s trying to be as realistic as reasonably possible and that’s the feeling Igor from the last layout. Hope you are having a great summer. Scott

I agree some of these layouts were very large, which in my mind means a lot of maintenance and maintaining on one person. I gathered there is a pretty good network of modelers in that area that get together to help each other out. Like you, I am pretty happy with my layout, big enough for me to take care of without seeming like a full-time job. Take care, Tony
20:27 wow! The ability to limit tracks is rare!
1:39 OMG.
10:16 how do turns work on this road, they look like a manual rod setup.
Appreciate the time you put in to present this video. Must have taken a few hours of editing. I especially like the way you narrated/commented on each layout instead of merely posting. I’m curious about the one scene where there is a completely covered section on the next to last layout at about 27:03. Do you know the story behind that?

I'm glad you enjoyed it. There were many beautiful layouts on tour. For the Burlington Northern layout, the staging area was out in a garage. The plexiglass coverings were to help keep dust off the equipment. ~Tony

@@CornCountryRails that’s a good idea. If I ever get some stuff built, it’ll be in the garage. Got to figure something for the entire track area. Thanks for the info
