The stairs were not too bad to make the climb to the top. Yes, the admission must of been a change as a family was watching from the parking lot as they were not prepared for the fee. If you are planning on spending the day there $9.00 was not too bad. ~Tony

If I'm not mistaken it looks like they did cut some shrubs so you see the trains better... Another great video Tony, thanks for sharing... To bad big blue wasn't still up and running, well can't have everything, LOL...

Oh Tony there is so much to say here. It was an amazing evening and I was so happy that you Mike and Ben took the ride out. Getting to spend time with you was a big highlight for this year. Our friendship over the last 10 years has been an a hallmark of my model railroading. The fact the we have met and got to know each other over social media, just speaks volumes in itself. I only wish that we had more time to talk. Hopefully now that retirement is coming soon I can make a trip to Iowa to run on the Rock Island! Oh thank you for the cool gifts and swag!

Hello Joe. Thank you Joe for the warm welcome and opening up your home for the evening for an Op Session. Having conversed back and forth over the years it did not feel like I was meeting someone new for the first time but instead visiting with an old friend. I'm glad that when Michael and I were setting up our N Scale Convention plans so many months ago, that I reached out to see if an Op Session was an option. There were so many railroad things that we covered on our trip out east but the Op Session on your layout was the highlight of the trip for me. I wish you well in the following months leading up to your retirement. If you ever make it to Iowa I will keep a throttle and a train ready for you. Very cool! Yes, Joe's layout gives you the feel of a large railroad as he has used his space so well not to clutter it with buildings and tracks. In reality, his train room is average-sized. He has used his space wisely. ~Tony

Hi Tony, Nice video. I too use Custom Signal equipment, but different detection method for my 3 rail O gauge layout. I use double head signals for a scissor crossover and 3 aspect distant signals, bi-directionally. Talk to you when I see you at a local train show. Sam

Would you say that many of the sellers in the swap-a-rama also had room sales? I didn’t do any room sales in Reno since I only got there on Friday, but I got the impression that going to the room sales is a good way to get early access to items that would later show up in the train show.

There were many Room Sales that also had tables at the train show. The nice thing about that is they had more room to spread out all their items at the train show. Sometimes in the Room Sales, you're limited on space to put everything out to be sold. I thought this year's Room Sales were great. I had not gotten these kind of deals since the 2019 Convention in Chicago. You are correct that the Room Sales can be a great sneak peek for items that may show up at the Train Show. Having plenty of cash on hand is also good advice for the Room Sales. ~Tony

Thomas has done a lot to promote the interest in the hobby. However, the elementary teacher in me was a little worried about being around that many kids already so close to the end of my school year. I was having a little PTSD panic attack.....by August I'll be ready to be back to school. ~Tony

3:57 You can see N&W 475 in the barn just past the 9 3/4 platform. I wanted to see how good or bad the repair looks on the smoke box. From what I can tell the welds were left exposed. So it looks like some sort of Frankenstein monster.

I was at the convention as well for Friday and Saturday, The Red Caboose motel is awesome to stay at for a night or 2 especially if you are doing the train sights of southern Lancaster County PA. The restaurant car there is decent for breakfast in the morning especially if you're adding scrapple to your eggs.

I had not gotten these kind of deals since the 2019 Convention in Chicago. You are correct that the Room Sales can be a great sneak peek for items that may show up at the Train Show. Having plenty of cash on hand is also good advice for the Room Sales. ~Tony

Thomas has done a lot to promote the interest in the hobby. However, the elementary teacher in me was a little worried about being around that many kids already so close to the end of my school year. I was having a little PTSD panic attack.....by August I'll be ready to be back to school. ~Tony
3:57 You can see N&W 475 in the barn just past the 9 3/4 platform. I wanted to see how good or bad the repair looks on the smoke box. From what I can tell the welds were left exposed. So it looks like some sort of Frankenstein monster.

I was at the convention as well for Friday and Saturday, The Red Caboose motel is awesome to stay at for a night or 2 especially if you are doing the train sights of southern Lancaster County PA. The restaurant car there is decent for breakfast in the morning especially if you're adding scrapple to your eggs.
Yeah, I would be interested in just walking through to get some pictures of the caboose if I ever stayed there as well. ~Tony

Agreed! There is something for every railroader at that museum and right across the street is the Strasburg Railroad. We ended up making a full day of it. ~Tony
