2023 Mazda CX-60 review: Hybrid turbodiesel variant tested | Top Gear Philippines

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Mazda has already established its offerings as more upmarket compared with mainstream Japanese models, but with the 2023 Mazda CX-60, the carmaker goes one step higher, setting its sights on premium brands like Lexus and BMW. It made a good impression on us when we first saw it just before its local launch, but now we’re finally able to drive it and see if it really delivers on its promise to provide both driver and passengers a luxurious experience.
For this video, we’re driving the top-spec 2023 Mazda CX-60 HEV Turbo-D Sport, which is powered by a 2.2-liter turbodiesel straight-six mild-hybrid powertrain and commands an asking price of P2,890,000. Click play on the video above for the full review, and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

    I could not help but notice Leandra airing his gripes about interior space. As a medium bulit person 5'5" in height, for me the space inside the CX60 is generous enough for reasonable movement.

    As someone who carries 5 passengers most of the time, the complaint regarding the 2nd row is something I have to see myself. I have a hard time imagining an suv that size being too small and uncomfortable for 3 passengers. The CX-5 which is narrower I would understand.

    I got my cx60 2024 model (3.3L e-skyactiv G version) last week here in Dubai UAE. So far I’m extremely happy with the car. The transmission is so smooth, absolutely nothing abnormal noted so far. The car is very comfortable and the engine noise is just amazing! Face recognition and safety e features (lane assistance and dynamic cruze control) are some of the high technology features in this car in my view. I’m wondering the issues listed here doesn’t apply to my model (ps: mine is the mild hybrid version).

    Good review. But on the last point, is it really coding exempt given it's a mild hybrid? Does it meet the requirements under the law to qualify? The other Mazda mild hybrids are not exempt.

    I think you can lessen the stiffness of the ride by reducing the tire psi, tire pressure is high when they load these cars on the ships for export

  • @DanilotheMD

    @DanilotheMD

    This is the same observation even in other countries even with the prescribed tire pressure. The CX-60 is inherently stiff. For that price, it should have better suspension. Perhaps Mazda can perfect it over the years. Let's revisit CX60 in 2026.

    the CX-60 price in Indonesia is around 4,44m php which is hugely overpriced compared to the Philippines' price, meanwhile the CX-5 here (2.5 NA) is 2,27m php and no turbo variant available. Philippines car market is way better! Already test drive this and noticed that the CX-60 ride is quite bad on low speed on bumpy road, and somewhat hurt the premium feel considering the price. The interior is fantastic though, definitely on par with the German luxury.

    It is. For newer mild hybrids released this year, look at the fuel type in your OR/CR. If it says hybrid, which it does in mine, it's exempted. The DoE list is incomplete. The basis for judgement is your OR/CR. Source: I own a MHEV Mazda.

    @@dudeparebro lol so you're more superior than the DoE list because you have a mild hybrid? Come on. Not a single mild hybrid (new or old) is on the list and there's a reason for that. Unless our govt release an official statement or a newer list, mild hybrids are simply not exempted.

    Gud Day sir, will you pls comment on this, it was written by someone on another thread, "The only main disadvantage of owning these Mazda Skyactiv cars is the iStop feature. It's a feature that many Pinoys won't really have any practical use. This feature requires a very expensive special battery (EFB) which cost around ₱15,000 if you go for the casa brand (Yuasa). Don't use the ordinary motolite or amaron battery otherwise you'll risk on damaging the eloop capacitor which will cost at least ₱100,000 for a replacement. Some Mazda 3 BM (2013-2016) owners have complained about this istop/capacitor issues in recent years." Is this true? , wow if it is , am now discouraged to buy a CX 60..hehehe

    It depends on where the ISG is installed, but most mild hybrids only utilize the 24-48v battery to smoothen out the start-stop function.
