The rain and wind made this year's Gran Fondo especially difficult, but it also set the stage for an epic challenge. With a beautiful sunrise and voluminous clouds the whole way, it turned out to be one of the finest days on a bicycle I've ever experienced.
My goal was to finish under 6 hours, however the torrential rain and constant headwind had other plans for me. I still had an amazing time and am thankful for the race organizers for not cancelling the event, for it made me a better cyclist. While there were some hairy moments early on the 395, CHP did a great job keeping everybody safe.

9:50 such an epic vista - classic thumbnail frame, yeah? Maybe include the state / location of the ride for your international audience who may be curious but live nowhere near the ride? Like me! NIcely done.

Thank you, I added the location in the description. Mammoth Lakes, California, USA. Eastern part of the Sierra Nevada mountain range near the Nevada border. You should come out to visit! Great cycling!
