Thanks a stack Daryl, riding my 1st Cape Town Cycle Tour (Argus) on Sunday, looking forward to it, my 2nd bike race ever. I'm feeling well prepared, training is done, my only goal is to have a great day and to complete the race as a personal achievement. Just hoping the wind won't be too crazy on the day. PS Great KZread channel !!!

i’m so hyped for daryl’s channel during the racing season this year!11. Fondo stuff is fun but come on Daryl…getting yourself sorted pre ride takes all the surprises out of the race!

Great tips Daryl! Doing the Tour de Brisbane in April. It’ll be my 5th Gran Fondo since having a heart transplant 6 years ago.

Thanks for the video. I have a question, that goes around in me for a long time. Why do pro cyclists use 500 ml bottles instead of bigger ones? Bigger ones are more effective, domestics would have less work. It´s just the fact, that a 500 ml bottle weight is lower than a 750 ml for a climb?

It's lighter and we often change due to heat of the bottles too. Sometimes a nice cold fresh one is nicer to drink and easier for the riders but ya 750m is huge

Do you think a breakaway could stick? If so, where would they need to attack from!?

It always depends on the wind. If its headwind to the finish it's pretty hard to stay away unless you have a good working group with similar interests. Suikerbossie is a great place to attack if you got the legs, but from the bottom, to make the gap. I always liked the stretch from Misty Cliffs towards Hout Bay, there is a good chance for some gutter action there
