It’s interesting how many sewists are aiming to slow down and to use better quality materials. ‘Tis a fact that all people who work in the arts end up at this very juncture. People who have painted for years want better paint and canvases. Musicians upgrade their instruments. Even cooks go down the rabbit holes of unique food and better cookware and tools and more difficult techniques. And all serious artists begin to covet more time and focus on details when they realize their skill is genuine. I say, Bravo! You are a sewing artist!

The best faux leather I have ever used in my 60 years of sewing is Ultrasuede. It can be thrown in the washer and dryer and looks fabulous. It’s a bit pricy, but, you get what you pay for…best of luck on your next pair of pants…

Am totally with you on slowing down, and trying to use up my stash rather than just buying more. Also will be trying to stretch myself with jeans and swimwear... And maybe bras... I've also started the rose cafe bustier but not finished it 😬🙄😂

I love your ideas I am the same taking longer on a project as love well sewn garments and they have to fit well I just finished my first coat..it was new look 6585 ..I lined it added a belt and put on buttons ...it took me am absolute age ..Well 3 weeks and although not perfect...it pretty good...word of advice..I had to do the button hole with the machine but with a zig zag as my machine did not like the edge of the fabric as too thick ..and...it keep.on knocking the buttonhole machine foot forward to early ..and I have a good machine ...so if you add button ...on thick fabric you may have to free style..good luck and re you valentines fabric how about the viki sews Rosaria ... just an idea as this is quite a romantic dress...

Your fabrics are so beautiful.I saw the blue herringbone wool but they only had a small amount left.I am really looking forward to it being made.Don't forget to use slippery fabric to line the sleeves so it slips on and off easily.

They sell out so quickly sometimes! Hopefully he'll have another wool drop soon. Thank you, I've got a satin type fabric for the lining so that should be okay I hope. I'm not sure whether to add a layer of fleece or something inbetween for extra warmth but then I wouldn't be able to wear it in the Spring 🤔❤️

Would definitely be interested in a vid about fabrics and how to tell what is good quality! I’m a newbie sewer and it’s so overwhelming trying to find good fabric that will last and is way to work with 😂

Great vlog! I have exactly the same problem with holding on to fabrics in case I use them in a project which doesn't do them justice! I need to just get the fabrics made I think!

It's so tough isn't it, unless I'm totally sure on a pattern first I then start second guessing myself! This is our year to sew those pretty fabrics ❤️

@@ginaseams If you do manage to squeeze it in, I’d love to see another vlog from you. I bought tickets for the Thursday after seeing your video from last year, it’ll be my first sewing convention(?) Is that the right term? I haven’t yet found another pattern for the length of fabric I have, I’m still quite new to sewing my own clothes so I went through the obligatory right of passage of buying all the pretty fabrics with no idea of what to make with them 😂 so this year is very much geared towards trying to use fabrics I already own.

Great plans - looking forward to see your makes! Am also a comfort sewer looking to push my boundaries more this year, and to focus more on finishing and fit rather racing to the finish line and ignoring little issues which detract from the final product.

You can do it! I'm totally the same with rushing to finish, I get carried away and then kick myself at the end when the details aren't right. It's our creative minds over working I think 😆

I have made that coat and it is a lovely pattern. Comes together quickly and no snags. It'll look lovely in that wool.
