    My neice is getting married in October and I've been looking for inspiration for something to make for me to wear after I've finished doing all the alterations on her dress and the bridesmaids... Im in Nashville so yes, it's going to be at a gorgeous barn venue and I have boots to wear and an option, long-sleeved wrap dress, if the weather is cool. However, that time of the year it could be 90 degrees F or 30 we just don't know. I also just happen to be knitting a gorgeous Brushed Alpaca Silk and Merino sweater with an open gauge that could be an option to go with a longer skirt.... I love your style and immediately thought of you. Any ideas for a warmer weather fall dress pattern or a skirt to go with cowboy boots and a wedding? lol sorry so long 💙

    Oh no! Why do you cut, not trace, paper pattern...😢

  • @ginaseams
    @ginaseams7 күн бұрын

    Because I can't be bothered to trace 😂 also I'm very confident in grading patterns in or out so I can adapt the sizes myself later if I need to ☺️

    Hi Gina, thanks for sharing this collection of summer patters. I loved them all, but I was particularly inspired to purchase the S9949. It looks simple but elegant and deceivingly expensive. Hope to see your version on your channel if you decide to make it too 🙂

    I can never work out how to rotary cut a dress pattern, how is the mat large enough? Maybe you have to move the mat but that would shift the fabric.

  • @ginaseams
    @ginaseams8 күн бұрын

    That's what I've always found fiddly about it! I have a huge cutting mat but even that isn't big enough sometimes which is why I favour electric scissors, I can cut on top of any table or floor (carefully 😆)

    So you use two basting stitches for gathering and then sew in the middle? That's a great tip. Gonna try that 😊

  • @ginaseams
    @ginaseams8 күн бұрын

    That's right ☺️ make sure the basting stitches are sewn with the tension on zero and long stitch lengths so you can adjust with the bobbin thread. Makes it so easy!!

    How much control do you feel you have? Worried I'd get carried away snd make mistakes!

  • @ginaseams
    @ginaseams7 күн бұрын

    More than you'd think! It's controlled by holding two buttons at once and stops as soon as you let go. That being said it does take some practice to get the technique but is super easy once you do ☺️

    Quicker than a sharp rotary blade? Only a matter of time til overhead laser light blade cutters are domestic tools.

  • @ginaseams

    Way quicker! They can't do everything but I use them for about 90% of my cutting out now and it saves so much time ☺️

    My wife and I are going on a Mediterranean Cruise in July. I like to sew dresses for her. I made a few for the trip already and saw this and decided I might attempt to make this for her. Yes, I know I'm a guy but I love to be creative. My wife is a travel nurse and we travel around the US in a motorhome. I used to be a Auto body mechanic and was constantly working on my motorcycles, cars, trucks, etc. But being on the road I can't do that. So I found an alternative, sewing. I just recently started so I'm not really all that good but I'm learning! I figured just take my time and like auto body mechanic. How well can I hide my boo-boos? ! LOL Thank you for this video!

    I've just bought M7946 as I have become slightly obsessed with shirring! I will probably shirr the whole boddice. The only pain is having to keep hand winding the elastic onto the bobbin. Happy sewing! x 😂❤
