2023 LiveWire Del Mar S2 First Ride and Review!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Are Electric motorcycles the future? Harley Davidson thought so, but then fractured off LiveWire to its own bike maker...sort of. Enter Livewire robot on the One - the Del Mar S2. Totally different style cues, riding position, gauge, and more. Instead of looking like a rejected sportster S or Nighttrain, the Live Wire Del Mar is a totally new animal.
My impressions of this start a little lower as I drove the One first. This is a totally different bike. An electric motorcycle??? Maybe.
Let me know your thoughts...

    Every video I see of this thing, the riders are having a blast. This design gives off a Harley XR750 flat-tracker vibe, too. Dig it . . .

    As an urban commuter in Paris France, this bike's range suits me fine. I currently own a Zero FXE, which is 100 pounds lighter and has 106nm of torque. It has amazing handling and is perfect for filtering though heavy traffic. My only concerns about the Del Mar would be low speed handling and the turning circle. All the same, I'm very tempted by this bike and will test it when French dealerships get their act together. Not clear when it will actually be available and the customer service here is dreadful! Ride safe and thanks for the content.

    I think it is the best looking e motorbike out there and the price is not that bad for what you get. My top spec Specialized emtb is $15300 and has to be pedaled lol. Gets almost the same range though and only weighs 53 lbs. Can't wait for the new battery tech to allow these things to get 200 miles or more.

    As an "urban commuter" bike, will a luggage rack be offered? Ben Marshall blogs about his LiveWire and he made a rack out of Adventure parts. This bike needs a rack.

    Fact Check: Torque is “703 ft-lbs or 950 Nm”… NOPE 👎. Maybe they forgot to change that when they copied and pasted from the Tesla spec sheet that they used as a template. The actual torque spec of 194 ft-lbs is plentiful though.

    A few years ago Level 2 was still predominant, and at least here in the states, there are more level 2 than 3 (although that won’t be the case much longer). Likely an early design decision and trade off to keep weight down

    The advertised out of the box is 184. The spec sheet at the dealer demo I attended said 703. Hmmm. I was told that the 'max torque delivery' is measured differently as it's an electric bike. (sips kool-aid) IDK. So confused.

  • @BackDraftBikes

    @BackDraftBikes

    11 ай бұрын

    You can’t, it’s due to the way a DC motor works and a transmission would need a more linear motor

  • @timscott3027

    @timscott3027

    8 ай бұрын

    You could put a transmission in it but it adds weight and parts and cost, these things are already too expensive and heavy. I think there will be more 2 or 3 speeds eventually though as it will improve efficiency at speed and improve acceleration. The Porsche taycan has a 2 speed automatic transmission.

    They have a J1772 connector, not a fast charger like the Livewire One. I was repeating what the engineer told me at the demo. I understand that at a Level 2 charger you can go from 20-80% in 70 minutes. But to fully charge they battery from 0-100 it takes a full 8 hours.

    When you hear the rumble, you know it is a Harley; when you see its stance, you know it's a Harley. Ergo, in 100 years it will be the Harley old-school connecting me to my great-great-grandchildren; emissions made inert, parts protected to weather the passage of time, and with a turn of a key, Harley rumbles again in the future tense. As for the LiveWire: (Harley-Tactical) I see its potential as fit for purpose: Amended with H2 continuous torque and speed, augmenting battery pack: Conscientious as an Environmentalist, silent and stealthy as a Seal, quick and agile as a Marine and the covert tactical fortitude of the Green Beret: developed is well suited to offensive, defensive and emergency interventions, and when needed, the hyper-acceleration of Mr. Scotty's Star Trek's warp speed, at the flick of a switch. Now for the future tense: (Harley Thunder) the Harley Hydrogen fuel-injected Dual-V12 Hover Thunder: Vertical take-off thrusters, boisterous rumbling thunderous calling card its DNA of original genesis, atmospheric aero-dynamic generating atmosphere, self-contained life-support energy on call, purified oxygen and water; able to meet and defeat the extreme conditions of the ongoing climate crisis. Now this is Harley beyond contestation remains rumbling thunderous in the genesis, the now & future tense. Na Mickey
