The thing about “I Love My Body” is that Hwasa wasn’t even pushing for the song to go number one, she did it because she liked it and she wanted to express herself through the song and the fact that the song still hit number one on certain charts and it still doing good says enough.

i’ve just learned that unforgiven apparently “flopped” 🤨 i think antifragile will always be their most iconic comeback despite perfect night charting so well right now but every group will have *THAT* song so if unforgiven was lackluster it’s solely because it came after antifragile and not every song is gonna reach the exact same level of success so it’s ridiculous to call it a flop.

I honestly don't understand how hwasa's "I Love My Body" & Le'Serrafim"s "Unforgiven" were considered flops, both gained a lot of recognition and view counts were high, If I am not wrong hwasa's solo was used in over 100,000 shorts (one of the highest numbers) and entered billboard hot 100. A lot of people loved the concepts of BOTH and everybody was dancing to these BOP's Even my friends who barely knew kpop, just a few groups and a few of their songs other than mainly all songs of BTS and Blackpink had listen to both!! This is just my honest opinion, no hate to any of the other songs LOVE THEM TOO

Billboard has several lists. ILMB debuted at #8 on the BB digital sales charts. It topped 8 iTunes charts globally. It may not have met artistic expectations for some, but I wouldn't call it a flop.

@@WG_MC_CRFrom the songs in the list only Jinni and Everglow flopped. Exo and Itzy did alright, but the standards for those groups are extremely high as they had extremely big hits. But still some groups wish they had songs with the success of Cake and Cream Soda. In Exo’s case it was SM who did not even bother promoting them.

I want to lay all the blame at SM's feet when it comes to Exo's Cream Soda not doing as well as it should have. They always drop the ball when it comes to promoting their older groups and often it's the groups or soloists themselves that have to do it. I don't think Kai's Rover would have blown up like it did unless Kai didn't say he'd do the challenge with anyone and everyone and First Snow blowing up on TT was because of fans, not because of SM. They dropped the ball with their lawsuit with CBX. They dropped the ball when it came to Kai's sudden enlistment. SM really is a terrible company and I wish EXO could take everything that the did with them.

I also think the song is not comeback material. I’m a big Exo-l and I hate the song. It’s horribly produced and has a tone that’s all over the place.

I Love My Body flop? That song peaked at 8 on the World digital song sales and 9 at the circle digital chart and currently has around 120 million digital index points, was in the melon daily and weekly top 10 for weeks, 20m+ streams on melon and 28m+ streams on spotify as at this moment, 330k+ shorts on yt, 110k+ reels on ig and 75k+ reels on tiktok. Even a casual kpop fan will encounter a tiktok/ig reel or youtube short with ILMB sound almost everyday. Every week you'll hear that song on at least one variety show be it Amazing Saturday, Running Man or even your faves' web variety shows. For the Gallup Korea Year-end Public Opinion Survey released 2 days ago for Koreans aged 13-39 who were asked their favorite Korean Artist of the year and Hwasa placed 13th with a 3.8% vote. 13th with just 2 songs released this year. The only soloists above her were IU, Lim Young Woong and Jungkook full stop. If this is what you consider a flop then I don't know what to tell you. Put some respect on that queen's name and at least do a bit of research instead of just focusing on 5-6 groups while using "he said, she said" for other artists. "Everyone was disappointed" my ass.

I think calling Cream Soda a flop is way off the rails. Cream soda did better than previous exo releases and the whole album itself out performed their previous releases. For the lack of promos that Cream Soda received, it did way better than expected. And honestly, it wasn't meant to be a mainstream song, it was meant to be a release for EXOL. And to say the album is "forgotten" is beyond me. The fact that Dazed ranked Let me In as the #1 kpop song of 2023 says compeltely otherwise.

Cream Soda is not a flop for sure like it or not. The full album did well and is filled with of good tracks.

I'm not sure why they're saying Hwasa would have more creative freedom in PNation. I'd say Mamamoo in general has a lot of creative freedom with their music than most kpop groups. Is that just me? I mean, Taller than You and Waggy were actual tracks on their album. Name a group from the big three companies besides Straykids (😂) that could write those kind of songs and have it be on their album.

I wondered about that, too, because RBW pretty much let Mamamoo do whatever to much success. Personally, I had (and still have) concerns about Hwasa being under Psy's label. I hope she's able to put something out that's more her and reflective of her talent.

I think one issue with RBW is that they tend to be overcautious about spending money, which means that they don’t promote their artists consistently effectively. I also guess that they do not have enough musical resources to sustain all their different groups plus solo work for all the Mamamoo members and other soloists. They have good composers and songwriters and producers, but there’s only so much they can do. So I think Wheein and Hwasa made the right decision to leave and build their solo careers elsewhere, while staying in Mamamoo.

@@moomoobebe that's true. RBW doesn't promote them much which is sad but I think it is one of those things that they wanted to try something different and take a chance on a new label with a new environment. I still wish them all the best and i hope they never disband as a group.

@@violent22angel Yes, I have the same wish and same hope for Mamamoo! I think that the separate agencies situation will turn out to be the best for Mamamoo in the long term. Each member gets to pursue their career goals as soloists, without being dependent on a small group of decision-makers at RBW. Then every year or two they can plan together for a group comeback and/or tour. This looks pretty sustainable. The only thing is that I’d like different is for them to do more OT4 songs than currently. In the last three years we’ve only had eight new songs (the first three on WAW, two on I Say Mamamoo The Best, three on Mic ON). This compares to nearly one hundred songs in the previous six and a half years. We’ve been pretty blessed with solo and subunit work, but the power of Mamamoo when they are all four together is something that I really miss. I think if they’d all stayed at RBW it wouldn’t necessarily be any better. Maybe some of the Mamamoo+ songs would have been OT4 songs. But I think the real bottleneck is that RBW have to sustain their other groups and can’t give as much resources to Mamamoo as they used to.

I love my body was a super hit!! It was trending everywhere and chilli is still trending!! And unforgiven is a bop it got 6 awards for a reason and it's one of the most streamed albums of 2023

I think Cream Soda views were really manipulated. Seeing how their Killing Voice's 19 minute video has same views as a 4 minute MV. Also, there were like two music shows. And no proper promotions. Sue SM, I guess.

I have no idea how could someone consider Hwasa's 'I Love My Body' a flop. It may not be her top 1 hit but it was really good (although I didn't like it at first listen, I gave the song some time and found it really catchy and fun). The dance challenge was really popular on all kinds of social media too. I also heavily disagree with the statement that it doesn't sound like Hwasa - in my opinion it really sounds like her - the concept, the vibe - it feels like she chose most of that herself. I'd say that some of her previous releases (ofcourse still being amazing on their own) might have suited her vocal but that's all. I think what she showed us in ILMB was actually a glimpse of her artistic style (as it was said) less controled by the company's standards and expectations and what we've seen before was Hwasa but... maybe not the Hwasa that she'd mostly like to show us If you get what I mean. ILMB was nowehere near a flop as I'd say it gained more popularity than her guilty pleasure release back in 2021 or her (btw one of my favourite releases from her) collabs with Loco - 'Lemon', 'Somebody', 'Don't'. ILMB seems to be at least in her top 5 most popular songs - doesn't sound like a flop to me.

Certainly, it's not a flop, but I agree with the side that didn't like the song. Psy gave this song to Hwasa after the controversy, and it has the typical Psy feeling to it. It's repetitive and catchy, but nothing about it stands out to me. Her other releases were also catchy but had a deeper meaning. Psy placed heavy emphasis on the dance because of the TikTok challenges and tried to persuade Hwasa to do more challenge videos (nothing bad about that). It's a nice song, but nothing about it screams "Hwasa" to me or is lacking a bit of that. She has more freedom under PNation, and I hope that for the next comeback she takes her time (after that stupid controversy) an shows us the Hwasa signature.

I love my body charted very well, top 10 in all charts and was pretty much everywhere. The only release of hwasa that did not perform well is I'm a B. It did not chart and got no wins, which is insane because it's her best song lol

It will eventually rise on the charts because the whole arrangement/composition & production of the song is geared towards the general public. Hwasa will never be a flop lmao. ILMB might not chart as high as Maria but it did good. Not all soloist can achieve a top 10 with a “flop” single. Even her song Chilli charted good.

I disagree with the Exo one. Cream Soda underperformed by Exo standards and I personally think it was deserved. I’m a big Exo-l and I hate the song a lot. I haven’t even listened to it since it came out because I hate it so much. It’s fine to like it but it has little mainstream appeal and is really underwhelming as a comeback.

These are more like songs that didn't live up to fans expectations if a song is getting millions of views and doing well on charts it's not a flop. Some fans expectations are insanely high and they can never be met. Taste is subjective like you said in the video.

Like earlier in the year, a bunch of twice haters were calling set me free a flop when it was one of their biggest hits overseas. Twice have moved on from focusing solely on the korean market, they collected so many accolades that they don't have to prove anything.

If the song isn't good enough (like for me some choruses are just too annoying, or... the writing on the pre-chorus different and doesnt do it for me), it's impossible to stream over and over again

Kep1er seems to be at this point where the views sales etc are respectable, but nothing incredible. I guess they know they can just release singles like grand prix as a Japanese bside and still sell out stadiums in Japan. They're probably the most successful gg who can do this without even having massive singles like their debut.

SM needs to step it up when it comes to promoting their artists there’s no reason why legendary groups like EXO and Red velvet are ‘flopping’ when the company has money and connections they could use to gain new fans not just maintain the ones they already have. I was surprised jini didn’t blow up more considering how interested knets were to hear what her solo project would sound like but I think she has a solid start in the industry for sure. I think itzy created too big a name for themselves that ppl have their expectation of them that they can’t meet anymore. CAKE was good imo but some old fan always has to come and compare it to their past TTs. I also thought UNFORGIVEN was very popular and not a flop at all

As a long term EXO fan let me tell you that the only reason EXO 2023 comeback didnt get popular like past comebacks is all because of SM entertainment, SM has always been nothing but trouble regarding treatment of artist and long contracts, but for some reason this year they took it too far they went from mistreating artist and overworking them to unfair payments of their korean artists(in the past the unfair payment problems were only for foreign artist under sm like former chinese exo members Kris, Luhan and Tao). So at the end SM is to be blamed for Exo's flop comeback this year.

I’m an Exo-L too, but I think Sm’s promotions are only part of the problem. I hate to say it, but the songs just weren’t it. Cream Soda especially is pretty atrocious to me, and I like a little of bad songs. It’s a nothing song that has terrible production, annoying falsettos, and fails make any emotional impact. Even if people like the song, it’s far from what could have been.

I would also add chasing that feeling by txt. It's not a flop but expectations were too high. The saddest part is that the album itself(freefall) is full of AMAZING songs like Happily ever after, Skipping stines, Growing pain, Dreamer, Blue spring.. but unfortunately title track wasn't that strong :(

I'll just say that the song is reminiscent of TXT's lore and I'm sure it has references to their webtoon (The Star Seekers) because they're no longer in Neverland, they're in the real world, that's why the song has those vibes. I personally LOVE the song, I listen to it all day i also like the album ❤ it's okay if you didn't like the song. ^^

Unforgiven broke the all time first day sales record for girl groups (since broken again), achieved #1 on Melon and Circle, and held top on Melon for months and top 20 for most of the year despite enormous competition. Calling it a flop is insanely stupid.

Unforgiven did very well. Its more like Aespa , Gidle and IVE came back at the same time so they weren't in the spotlight for too long. And Source music was obsessed with promoting EVE, PSYCHE and BlueBeards wife more . But unforgiven was 3 on melon and has 162M streams on spotify . So it was a hit

I was a bit surprised "Cream Soda" didn't do better though, especially from one of the biggest boy groups. I got to "Hate Rodrigo" on this video and realized... maybe I just love the "flops" cause I enjoyed all of these and heard them all the time when I tuned into shows and went to kpop stores. (Except "I love my body"...definitely didn't like that one)

Also the 3 songs are the biggest selling singles in China under SM entertainment in 2023. And Exo songs are already on the list For best songs of the year With Let me in at number 1. Yes SM entertainment Did sabotage them And didn't promote them like the other groups And they even Canceled eight hundred thousand Of the preorders of exist out of nowhere Didn't even tell us why. They only gave them 1 week of promotion Like they always do For the last couple of comebacks. But At the end of the day we real EXO-L Were there for them And to make sure this comeback was a success And it was. I love my body certaonly wasn't what anyone was expecting, but the song was still very catchy. Hwasa herself said that she didn't care if the song did well, it's a song PSY gave her when she was feeling down and it made her smile, so she decided to go ahead with it. It may not have had the effect people would have expected after releases such as twit or maria, but this song was less about the views, and more about the message. I believe that hwasa wanted to not only do that for herself, but also for others, which she certainly did. Most people on the internet that I've encountered do say they don't really vibe with the song itself, but they appreciate the lyrics. It may have been a flop in numbers, but it made some people smile. I'm sure we can expect absolute bangers from hwasa in the future, she's an absolute queen.

The purpose of the song was ..to help girls , who felt hideous , ashamed humiliated, inferior , embarrassed, complexed , cos their body was too fat , or too thin….and it did its work ..it made women feel more confident , it made them feel their was no reason to stay sad , if they did not have a great sexy body ..

Out of these I feel bad for Everglow 😭🤧🥲🥺. They don't deserve this . Hope Everglow will leave that company soon and join another company which will be promising to us and to the members about their comeback.
