2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6: Streamlining the Korean firm's electric car offering
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
When we say that the Ioniq 6 is streamlining Hyundai's electric car offering, we don't mean that it's slimming it down: quite the opposite, in fact. No, what we mean is that, while the existing Ioniq 5 hatchback has a rather blunt, upright design, its new stablemate, the Ioniq 6 saloon, has a smoother, swoopier, more streamlined design (the firm actually calls the car a 'streamliner') for improved aerodynamic efficiency, and at the same time the car doubles Hyundai's portfolio of all-electric offerings.
Despite the contrasting approaches to design, the two cars actually use the same platform and hardware. You can have the car with either a single motor that sends 225bhp to the rear wheels, or with an additional motor that brings 321bhp and four-wheel drive. The former starts at around £47,000 and does 0-62mph in 7.4 seconds, while the latter trims the sprint time down to 5.1 seconds in return for a premium of around £3,500.
In this CarGurus UK video, Vicky Parrott takes a look at the new car's quality, practicality, technology, value for money, and of course, what it's like to drive.

Looks like a modern SAAB if that existed

It does. NEVS is the new SAAB. Does'nt look like any other than SAAB.
I have 1 since June 2023. No problems, excellent range, fun to drive and easy to charge at home!
Easily a head turner, looks are important 👌
Wow the car looks amazing in that colour and good to see an entry level car on test rather than a fully optioned model. I love the design and the distinctiveness of it and the fact it's not an SUV. Tough choice over the 5 for me but I think in this colour, I'd go for the 6. I like this a lot.
Excellent work. Nailed this review in 9 mins, no nonsense. Highlighted the one concern I have which is ride comfort. I own a 5 and it’s the one thing that bothers me on city roads.
What nobody mentions is delivery - waited 13 months for EV6 which never arrived - why are Teslas so common? - you can get them!

True.
Why did nobody tell me that charging up your car from a public charger is so complicated? Every charger network (and there’s dozens of them) requires registration, setting up an account (with loads and loads of your personal details) on a smart phone app, and most of them demand you prepay as well. Why can’t I just rock up and tap a debit card, like I did at a petrol station? What a faff!!!

Just wait. Will be in the near future.

This is not correct. Yes, you do have to use an app for some networks but the majority accept contactless credit or debit card for payments.

Rapid chargers are simple usually and just require a Tao of a card. Public 7kwh can be a nightmare though but I tend not to use them much anymore.
that silver trim around the central screen will be great for windscreen reflections...other than that, and the fact that is electric, I love it
If the ride is iffy what size wheels is recommended .
It's beautiful
A bit of old Citroen (DX) etc going on in the rear streamlining. Great review of a smart EV.
Good looking car, wonder who designed it ?

Probably an "ex-porsche" designer as they seem to be all over today?
A great looking EV but I think it will be a bit like marmite, many will like it but perhaps more may not. Having looked at the car in person my wife and I found the black interior made the car feel rather claustrophobic. Shame you can't spec a light grey interior on the Premium model, only the Ultimate, which is about £3K more!
Nice looking car. Really like it. Not the price though. Give me the Tesla Model 3 or Y any day. Over £50k. Brand new cars are a rip off!

You are a very...vanilla kind of person aren't you!🤦🏿♀
Is this the equivalent of the I20 seems pricey
Polstar is a class above VW. Saying that they are in the same league is misguided.
Bargain I'll have 2 one charging when one runs out 😂
Nice Ioniq 6.. I would pick the Byd Han or Xpeng P7 over this... no Model 3 for me... 😁😁😁
50k for that? Get lost

More likely 60k. Got lost.
Hyundai might be on a roll, but not with this model! At least not to my eyes. The 'squeezed out of a toothpaste tube' look just doesn't appeal. But hey, this is all subjective, no doubt other people will like it.
Another one who does not know how to pronounce Hyundai the new way 😂🤣😂🤣
Lower Premium 🤣🤣 They flipping wish.
I like it but could never buy it
An ugly looking thing.. It's the rear part that just doesn't work...
The car is ugly overrated and overpriced. CarguruUK is bias anyways...
