Yeah, but these boats are faster and run cleaner on the water rather than through the water. You see how they float on top and create less wake in the course? They've changed, but they have improved. In speed and more importantly, in safety for the drivers.

12:36 you can see the collision. I don’t know if anything penalties were issued because the 9 boat was pushed out into the 40 because of the rooster tail from the( I believe the 91).

Yeah, it is total bullshit. They hit the 40 and knocked him out of the race. Huge hole in his left sponson. I love this sport, but the H1 officials seem crooked as hell. They refuse to issue penalties to the Beacon boats regardless of how many people they run over. Shame on you H1. We should have clean and fair racing!!!

The 9 was out of control and damaged the 40. Echols had to slow down.

What was with the 9 playing bumper boats with the 40 again? Also, it looked like the entrance bouy on the top end of the course had moved and was sitting out in the middle of lane one. Was something off there, or am I just seeing it wrong? It looked like it caught Dylan off guard when he had to swing out to go around it as they were all getting formed up before the start.

Drove 13 hours to see this in person and it was worth it a million times over.

No lane infraction on Kelly on lap 2, there is no lane #1 for the U-1 at 12:05

Start at 12:06 and come to your own conclusion to which any lane infraction would or could have been applied and to whom. Then realize there is a lane still there

It appears that way.. but it was Tate who pinched in from lane 3 to two, at corner entry, JMK had to adjust, to not hit Tate encroaching into lane #2 who did definitely NOT leave the space of at least 2 boat widths. In the exit turn, JMK did a good job to throttle down, was willing to be patient, stay in 2nd place, shift fully into lane #2 (Which Tate was still encroaching) to stay out of his tail & being swamped. It was skillful moves right there to leave Lane #1 open in exit. & overall to make the best out of what could have been a collision, that was not his cause. although #1 did get swamped at entry to corner, because of Tate's encroaching. Watch the vid when the camera was zoomed in.. JMK & Tate were close! and JMK was leaving 2 boat widths for #1. You can clearly see in that zoom, that Tate turned hard.. and early.

:WOW, reminds me of the days of old.... My dad use to work on limited Hydro's in our yard in Tacoma. Smiling George and RF Rupe were family friends... such good times and good people to grow up around... I was only 14 yrs old helping pull boats to the beach with ropes.

My mistake on the previous comment . The collision occurred during the second turn of the first lap . Watch it again and see for yourself . Dirty , very dirty .

Yep. The main announcer is beyond annoying; he tries to inject artificial excitement instead of paying attention to what's going on in the race. I don't care how far this old timer goes back...get some fresh blood in the commentating booth.

it would be great if you included boat telemetry on screen. Its hard to tell from the broadcast how fast these boats are going like you can tell when you are on the lake. Is that speed data available on a web page somewhere?

What does a man need to do to get a call during a race ? Peabody in the Beacon Electric clearly hit Echols in the first turn of the 2nd lap . Not one word was said by the milktoast announcers or the officials . Peabodt went staight in the apex of that 1st turn , second lap , just long enough to hit Echols and force him out of his lane and slow him down . A clear penalty and no one apparently saw anything . I hate it when a shithead gets away with such a lousy and dangerous stunt like that . Peabody thinks this is Nascar where it`s Ok to slam into people in order to pass them . Peabody should have been disqualified and fined . So obvious and no one called it .

Tate has that start Down!

This is my old back yard. In the 1960's I lived in a house right above the north turn. I could see it from my bedroom. We always had ton of people over for race day. We had everyone arrive early by 6 or 7AM and park and then we locked the doors and turned the yard sprinklers on to stop people from trampling our flower gardens and trying to climb our fences. Made sure all our doors and gates were locked or people would just walk in use the bathroom and go through the refrigerator. These were the days of what I call the "true" hydroplanes. Powered by WW II aircraft engines. The true "Thunder Boats". These boats may be faster but they don't sound right to these old ears! The logboom with boats was much larger back then also. This one is pretty wimpy. And of course the cost. The city has made sure they get their pound of flesh. Use to be all free, now it's all about the Money!

An amazing year of racing and the finals were the best! I thought Brad might stroke out. There will be some great HD video coming out some time and those dives in and out of the corners along with Andrew Tate flying his boat trying to get the wins. Thanks for the live streams this year. Hope to be in Detroit for 2024.

Great coverage. Can’t say enough. However. It looks like JMK veered out twice in to the 91. One time causing damage to both boats. But, I cannot say for sure because the only video that was messed up was when that damage occurred.

I got to take a pic with JFK after he got done doing a interview, after he won I will never forget it. I think the sport is starting to make a massive comeback.

I watched the final..Is it me or have the Unlimiteds become less exciting. I remember the rivalry between Chip and Dave and then Mitch Evans and the piston powered boat. It seemed more like a limited inboard race. And the announcers talking like this was the best ever Really??? Maybe it's my age. But I have watched them most of my life. This one was ok, But not great

That was a pretty good final. The bad times started in 1992 when Chip drove Miss Budweiser, then Dave Villwock I think until Budweiser left the sport in 2004. Budweiser dominated at that time

I agree with you 100%; the main announcer needs to be put out to pasture. I love how they finished up the KZread coverage by stating how the sport is on the rise...really? The San Diego race got cancelled; 4 total races during the season. Watch the recent interview with Chip Hanauer on KIRO news. You can tell he is really sad about the state of things in H1. I agree with him.

Neither of them strong boats held their lanes. Both should be penalized at least a lap. Peabody ran into the u40. Kelly was all over the place ran Tate all over and closed off the u1. But great racing awesome end to the season.

Could not tell what happened to dylan in the home Street But should have been a contender In this race. Don't know if he got cut off or washed down or what. But he needs to get more seat time in that boat. If jimmy shane was driving, this would not have happened, cause he probably would have won. Shane was the best driver Madison ever had and steve David was good too.
