I’m from the UK and just returned from the US where I hired a Terrain. Not 100% sure on the engine size but it felt as smooth and powerful as a 3 litre diesel. A beautiful car!

I love how basic it is. I would seriously consider this if it had at least a 2.0T instead of the 1.5T. I swear they put these smaller engines in so we would have to buy a new vehicle every few years. They arent going to last long.

I had a Terrain (Hawaii) for 10 days. I like the styling and interior. Solid structure, good handling (road to Hana). It’s unfortunately let down by the 1.5 turbo. There’s no hiding the buzzy engine and lack of low end torque. The smaller the engine, the more stressed and short life it has.

They should have never gotten rid of two things. The dual chrome exhaust tips in the back. And MORE importantly the 2.0 turbo engine. The 1.5 just isn't cutting it for a vehicle this size. I would have ditched the 1.5 and kept the 2.0 as the main engine. Bad move GMC. Otherwise, i LOVE the Denali version of this suv. And on the plus side for the 23 model year you can now shut off the start/stop function since the button is now right next to the hazard flasher light button. Instead of going through the gears to shut it off which was a pain in the ass.

The guy doing this review is dumber than a second coat of paint - no idea what the passenger behind the seat map pocket was designed for. He also went, "woohooo" after stepping on the gas...in a gutless slug that only has 175hp and barely over 200ft of torque. Enough said. I really wish one of these YT champs would be honest, just once..

You get used to it in a few days. It's basically the same system many EVs use. Push a button, let the AI take over and forget it. If you resist the impulse to make more noise with the accelerator and let it do its thing, it's very much like an Audi A4 with its CVT in geared mode. Put it in drive, forget it exists. Very quiet, very smooth. Combined with GMC's active noise cancellation system, it's kind of halfway to an EV in many ways. Soft, quiet, gets you there with zero drama if you are just a little patient with it. And for people who remember old GM cars that floated down the road in comfort, this is kind of trying to be that again. 0-60 times? Who cares. Not like that Element in front of you is even going the posted speed anyways. Too busy texting to bother going faster than 30mph.

Does anyone know if the interior noise is dampened? I feel like that should be mentioned too, compared to other vehicles that carry all the exterior outside noise into the cabin like tires wind and other vehicles with annoying music blaring lol. Nissan frontiers 22-23 have noise dampened cabin. As an example and prolly most luxury cars too but I don’t know. However I’d like to know if it is for this version.

Ours is much quieter than the RAV4. It's a very cozy and soft ride. Perfect for commuting with the classical or jazz station on. Yes, apparently GMC uses an active noise cancelling system in the Terrain and larger model SUVs. If you let it just drive and resist the impulse to mash the accelerator (which doesn't really get you there much faster) , it's very quiet and smooth.

  • @plektosgaming

Like most vehicles, it has a speed it wants to go. Pressing down on the accelerator versus letting it do it itself just results in you getting there 100ft sooner while making tons of noise. Gently go through 1st and then you can hit it hard once the turbos are spun up. Way less drama and just as fast. Comparing it to the CRV, the CRV has that nasty CVT transmission that is prone to breaking if you haul cargo regularly and the AC system is miserably poor. Pass. Also interior - pass. Honda still is trying to hard to be "eco" and it all feels... a bit flimsy. That leaves the RAV4. But to get the same features, you need to get the XLE trim and after adding packages, it comes out to $150 more than the same trim GMC. So same cost, basically. Yes, I had to add nearly $800 in safety options to the GMC, so it's a fair comparison. That leaves the interior and other features, and the GMC is a compelling alternative. I can tell you the fat sidewall 17 inch tires on the base trim GMC and better steering (both electronic, the GMC feels almost hydraulic predictable) soak up road noise and expansion joints as well as any 90s Buick. The Toyota is... much more busy for sure despite the same size tires? We test drove both and the GMC simply felt better and drove more quietly as long as you let the AI and 9 speed transmission do its thing. Yes, it was slightly slower. No, we've never had a problem as the Kia -shoe- Soul in front of you is going 35 in a 45 anyways.
