2023 Chevrolet Equinox - MPG Test | Real-world Highway Fuel Economy

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

To correct my initial statement, the Chevrolet Equinox is actually the 14th best selling car in America. This is still an impressive figure, and we were hoping to understand why so many people buy these things. It seems fuel efficiency likely doesn't play a part.
Also, CORRECTION: The Equinox has 175hp, and 203 lb-ft of torque. :)

I love my 2024 equinox, the seat takes some tinkering to get right. I’ve taken it on 4-5 hour road trip and it was very comfy.

The EPA highway number is mostly from the highway portion of the US06 cycle which has an average speed of 61 mi/hr and not the HWFET cycle.

I had a Malibu lease of this generation. It was a 1.5t with leather, pano roof etc.. I loved the car. I'm a fast driver and I never wanted for power, the low end torque was great. The ride and handling was impressive and felt more expensive vs. everything else in the class. The rear independent suspension made this big car really enjoyable to toss. The plastics were hard but aside from that it was very nice inside and the tech worked so well. The Equinox seems to have a lot of the same ride and noise isolation qualities. If they're still using the 6AT I wish they'd use the 9AT for 30mpg highway.. A Generic ride, but i'd pick it over the Rav4 all day everyday.

I too would be curious how it compares to the AWD. Also, not to harp on it, I would love to see a Ford F150 work truck in the 3.3 NA 4X4 configuration tested. I know it is a work/fleet vehicle and not that sexy, but considering truck prices, it is still pretty affordable and actually capable of a lot of work.

My wife bought one (I drive a mustang and a q60 twin turbo). I’LL take hers on any longer trips. Unlike the other cars in my life, this one actually rides nice and carries luggage lol. She did buy the upper RS trim. I’m serious…Sometimes you just want a comfortable ride. I don’t get that with the other two, not at all. And people PLEASE stop making comments on rides you don’t even own, it’s senseless 😂.

It would be interesting if you did the same test in AWD. One of the most average crossovers available. If I described the Equinox in sex terms; missionary.

Hey buddy, you put the Mazda 2.5t hp/torque numbers. Not the 1.5t hp/ torque numbers for this actual vehicle…..

the pricing of this car is at MSRP or under right now. With incentives, it usually come out a couple thousand of dollars lower then the Rav4 or CRV. The only thing i dont like about it is that its no longer USA made. Chevy moved the manufacturing to Mexico

I just bought a 2024 Equinox LT with on/off AWD. I averaged 28.8mpg on a 106 mile trip. Cruise control was set at 60mph and had several large hills to go over and down. I had AWD turned off. I've had my car 2 weeks now. It gets better gas mileage than my 2012 ford fusion and both my 2002 and 2003 truck (obviously). I'm very pleased with the gas mileage. Better than expected considering the hills I had to go over

Very mediocre vehicle, but I still think it's better than a Nissan Rogue with a CVT, and you can usually buy one a few grand under MSRP

For highway cruising most of the SUVs that have more than 2500 rpm at 70mph is not going to give good mpg

The horsepower and torque figures are… exaggerated for a 1.5T. Even in really sporty trim.

These are popular because they are cheap and wear a domestic badge (the suits are the only domestic part). One of the few vehicles that can be had under MSRP. Think of it as a over inflated 90s Pontiac Grand am...A basic disposable appliance.

The Equinox aspires to mediocrity and this test demonstrates it still has work to do to achieve that goal.
