2023 Animaris Rex

Ойын-сауық

Since the beginning of this summer I have been trying to connect several running units (Ordissen) in succession. Animaris Rex is a herd of beach animals whose specimens hold each other as defense against storms. As individuals they would simply blow over, but as a group the chance of surviving a storm would be greater. It is 18 meters long (5 meters longer than the largest Tyrannosaurus Rex found.)

Theo, I'm 70 years old and I've been following you for _years._ I love your work. I believe your profile is higher now than ever, as it should be!] You might say life has battered me these last years, every loss unforeseen and devastating. A medical professional suggested the result has been PTSD. I live in a nursing home now. Remarkably, I still find happiness in my life. The _strandbeest_ not only brings me great joy, they make the world absolutely *_magical._* I cannot thank you enough.

This beest has impressive stability and complexity. The previous single, lateral-oriented beests tend to tip over in the forward direction, but this one appears much more stable. Incredible creativity and mechanics. The challenge of designing any complex system, mechanical or hydraulic or electronic, is to make it stable and functional. Hats off to Theo for having the imagination to bring these PVC wind-walker beests to life.

I love it, they certainly seemed more stable in the wind linked together like that. My only thought was I wonder if the tail unit would have an easier time if the connecting lines linking it to the rest of the group were attached higher up to help lift up the front couple rows of 'feet.' That said, having it drag a little may help slow the whole pack down so maybe that bit of drag is meant to be there. Thank you for sharing with us!
