I don’t really like this car as an Integra, but I actually do really like it as sort of a Grand Tourer version of a Civic Si. Like if you’re somebody with a family and maybe you want something a bit more plush and luxe than the Civic, but still relatively sporty and with a great manual gearbox (and maybe marginally larger and more reliable than a GTI) this could be a solid option. Honda/Acura definitely missed a trick by not giving it SH-AWD tho

my problem with this is that Acura has that image of "look at me, luxury nameplate... but im not really...im a still an econobox Honda"... Honda should honesly ditch the Acura nameplate and keep everything Honda.... its such a failure of a brand all together

@@SantanKGhey1234 that would work just fine for enthusiasts like us, but the prestige of a nameplate is worth a lot. The VW Phaeton is the prime example. They built a better Audi, but nobody wanted a super posh VW. Contrast that with the BMW X1.

At a $9000.00 upcharge from a Civic Si, you have to wonder where the money went. Okay, the interior is nicer, and electronically adjustable damping. Can you really justify it over the Si? I couldn't. The depreciation may be less, (although a Civic Si will probably do well), but aside from that, this car is a hard sell. 200hp at 6,000rpm doesn't exactly send tingles down my spine, either. Give them credit for having a manual transmission available. Enthusiasts have spoken, and we don't want CVT's or autos. Looking at the pedal box, it looks like a wide space between brake and throttle. I wonder how it is to heel and toe?

Mixed feelings on this one: 1. It's exactly what it's supposed to be. Normal looking car with a little bit of fun and luxury built in. I've driven all of the Integra generations and none of them were fast. Only the Type R was. 2. It is 2022 and you can still get a manual transmission car. Great job on that Acura! 3. Why is the highest trim package required to get the manual? There are some great competitors for that price. 4. Did they seriously literally glue an Acura logo on the engine 'cover'? That is a huge indicator to how slapped together this car is since it's 90% Civic. Even though the Japanese shared some components between Honda and the Integra back in the day, it never felt like it. But that's clearly not the case here. 5. A soft clutch pedal is the reason modern manual transmission cars are not enjoyable to drive. When there is zero resistance to the clutch pedal, it feels like nothing mechanical is happening, which defeats the purpose of having a manual these days. Not saying it needs to be heavy, but too light sucks. 6. This should just be called the ILX. There is nothing that says that it's any better than an ILX. Which sucks, because that means the release of the Integra name again is 100% a marketing exercise, because of the current nostalgia for the '80s and '90s.

So our expectation for an "Integra" is pure nostalgia, but at the same time the selling point for this car is of that nostalgia. If the designer truly feel that our expectation is unrealistic, then shouldn't they just continue to call it the ILX when in fact this is just a rebadge ILX. Don't call it an Integra and then plays victim and tell us that we can't expect it to the "Integra".

I don't need to rack up any speeding tickets. I just love to drive, and I drive on normal paved roads. The Integra has plenty of speed and comes up to speed fairly quickly. It has so many accessories and perks and tech that most vehicles don't. The gas mileage is great. The safety features are great. The '23 Integra is so ugly. And not just because it's called an Integra and not similar. End of the day, it's extremely lazy. The points that I could be swayed on are that it's ugly but I have not seen it in person. The ILX looks great, it just has a bad interior. They should have just built a new gen of ILX updated the interior and it would have sold better. At best, this would be the ILX Hatchback.

They did almost nothing design wise (other than the embedded logo) to give it Integra style. That 'shovel digging' front line along the side is NOWHERE near the look of the original. Has nothing to do with the business side. They could have kept ALL the tech, weight, frame, even the 4 doors! All they had to do was design an exterior that had more cues. THATS IT! That was the big failure, has nothing to do with dollars. I mean, Dodge did it well with the Challenger, and that's a cash cow for them!

I was an owner of 1998 Acura Integra GS-R.. brand new and owned it for 6 years. I am not a modder and did not turbo, add exhausts etc. I did an an AEM intake which did make a difference in the seat feeling or maybe it was just the insane noise from the engine. I was not easy on the car but did not officially drag race on a track. I found the car a blast and reminisce the days I owned it. I think the heart of the Integra was the amazing and almost bullet proof engine. B18C. This engine was coveted by modders and non-modders. That engine got legendary status due to all the mod enthusiasts. Do I see that with this Integra? I do not think so. A manufacturer has to compromise when making a car that has to profit as well as try to cater to the enthusiast. I think the B18C days was unique for that time. I do need to test drive it though to get my a** confirmation. I rarely comment and I take it for granted the work you put in to these videos. Excellent video production.

Watching this and hearing from Acura themselves definitely gave me a different perspective on this car, but my opinion is largely the same: as an ILX replacement it's a good car, but as an Integra it's pretty disappointing. But I also realize that a lot of the reasons I don't like it are just my personal preferences. I don't like hatchbacks. I don't like tiny turbo engines. I think the styling is boring and very corporate Acura that I have never been a big fan of. On top of that, for around the same money I would rather have the new Z, a Civic Si sedan, a GR86 or even like a base Mustang GT. There are just too many other good options over this 200hp tatted up Civic hatchback. And I say that as a big Honda fan.

Great work by the SG team. Reading between the lines, bottom line is there isn’t a business case for an Integra performance car. Acuras bean counters calculated that selling a generic Integra to college professors trading up from their 7 year old Civics is where they should focus- and that’s what they did here. A modern Integra is a great choice if you’re a mainstream Honda owner. It’s not an option at all if you value serious performance at this price point.

Type S it'll come. If they brought the 2.0T in at 35k It would be a direct competition to the type R. Yes I know this is a CTRL C CTRL V of Si. But you add luxury, hatch, comfort, and styling (subjective on styling) That's where you get 7K over the Si. You put the 2.0T and it's a no brainer to take the Integra over the Type R let alone the Si. Unless your a diehard autocross/track day enthusiast you'd take the Integra over the type R. If they put the 2.0T in, the MSRP would be around 40-42K(which is where i expect the Type S to fall). If the base started at 40K, your in TLX, Z, Mustang GT, past GR86, past WRX, past GR corolla. A 2.0T base integra was never in the cards. You have to price your product so you compete with other brands, but not yourself. Acura has to be absolutely hating themselves though with the GR Corolla coming at 30k with 300hp 273lb. Ft of torque. Acura messed this up. I have a friend who is an engineer for Acura who has his hands in the Integra (Type S, but he won't confirm. We all know it's coming) and NSX Type S and they're his babies. I have driven a bunch of the newer Honda products and I agree with Mark, they lack a certain "feel" to them that almost all modern cars lack. They're better on paper in every area over the older generation but there isn't the same level of feedback and feeling to them. I’d rather get a V8 with a proper manual like the newer Camaro ZL1 or Mustangs or just get a Audi/BMW/AMG. If Honda went back to its roots and made a crazy 9k RPM 4 or 6 cyl engine with a DCT or manual and gave it anywhere from 200-500 horsepower I would seriously want one but truthfully I dont care for any of there current engines.

Integras were always distinctive with their unique design, and how the headlight shape stuck out from the rest of the cars. You would see an RSX drive by and immediately know it’s an RSX. Same with the GS-R. This integra, still looks too much like an ILX with different headlights. The designers played it too safe. But I guess the originals integra were also the same as it didn’t stick out that much either. The ones who can get past that can easily accept the integra. Take this as a complaint from someone who grew up with Hondas/Acuras, but what really irks me is that they created all of this hype around a new Integra, and what we ended up getting was basically just a new ILX. There is nothing design wise that ties this to any of the previous generation Integras, and it felt like a huge marketing ploy to create hype for a car they already had in their line up, simply by changing the name to a beloved legacy car. I honestly lost a lot of respect for the company after this stunt. Also, when I was really into them, it didn't matter if it was a base model or a sedan, I really liked the Integra as it just looked more sporty than a Civic. That isn't the case with this, and this doesn't give off any appearance of sportiness to me, and in that case I would without question take the Civic Si over this because I think it's a better looking car. I think their biggest mistake was calling it an Integra and creating the hype to try and attract people who liked the previous generation models, because all it did was put all the attention on a really shit marketing ploy.

I don't think anyone is really saying that a modern Integra has to look identical, but clearly they did something right when the DC5 was well enough received even though it did have a different enough look to the DC2. Also, if you even look at current Honda's, all of their car models look different enough. The DC2 and DC5 looked different enough from the other Acura models of the time. This has nothing distinct about it. This is just an Integra in name and in the fact it shares parts with the Civic. They knew there was little interest in the ILX with younger buyers, and even if they had released a performance version of it, it probably wouldn't have done great, and so they got desperate and made the ILX into a hatchback, built up hype about a new Integra, and gave us a hatchback version of the ILX.
