Daz it's tough enough for anyone to address mental health issues, most live in denial and very few actually seek help so congratulations on facing it head on and more so broadcasting it on the Internet. Just keep doing what you are doing and you will get past this 💯 Who wouldn't want to see more koi videos.....shipments arriving and much more.......yes please 🙏🏼 I also think the salt video is something that needs addressing but as you said it's your opinion so others can take it or leave it. Take care matey 👋🏼

Mr Dazzle Sorry to hear about things at home, but congratulations on starting your journey with regard to your mental health 👏 Tbh I thght from your very first video tht you were bouncing back from some kind of mh issue. You had a wound tht I thght suggested was the case. I got the timing wrong. In my YT observations of you, you seem like a great bloke. Very helpful and patient with us Nerks tht know little about keeping water/Koi. I have not only learnt much about keeping fish from you, I have also had to reconsider my whole mindset on keeping fish because of you generosity. You have brought a lot of positives to mine and I am sure other ppl's lives yet we have never exchanged a spoken word. This video will help you and others with yours/our mh, so thank you again. Brave of you to take to YT. You clearly have strengths, hopefully those close to you will be there as needed, you're not alone physically or in this journey. Best of luck to you 👍🏽

    1) Thank you for everything, 2) you owe us nothing, but as you can see we all love your content, 3) KZread comments are nearly always toxic, if your not in the right place, turn them off, focus on you and the content 4) a video on orp meters??? Looks like a great way of monitoring water quality but not much out there, 5)I hate my tempest, once a month I swop out the waste tap because it starts leaking, you can hear the grinding of all the debree stuck inside of it, causing constant leaks :-(

Hi Tom and thank you for your sound advice, I couldn't agree more about some of the comments I see on the internet and social media, although I have to say, I've been blessed to have very few. The support I've had following this video has been nothing short of amazing. I'll definitely add ORP to my video list, good call 👍👍 Sorry to here you are not happy with the tempest, I've had the odd drip from my air intake tube but thats all. I must have got lucky because I've heard a few people have trouble with the leaking. Are you getting some sand or grit of some form in there? Do you have rendered pond sides maybe?

Rumination is known as a "silent" mental health problem and can have a massive impact on peoples lives The positive is that you now know what you are dealing with so you are already in a better place. All I will say is protect yourself from negativity and surround yourself with people that add value to your life and fill you time with the things that bring you some comfort or joy. You will get through this Daz and I’m glad you sort help at the right time. Stay strong and look forward to many more informative videos from you

Impressive video and well done for opening. Not an easy thing to do. At all. Rumination is not a one day session problem solved type of thing, but I am so glad you have opened up to yourself and most specifically decided to do something about it. I can only say WOW. I am deeply sorry that you are in this family situation, it is sad, but you absolutely need to look after umber 1, which is yourself, as no one else will do it for you, and no one else can do it for you. HOWEVER, what I can say is, don't hesitate to grab people's hand when you feel you are drowning, even if it has never been a natural thing to feel or do. Equally, it's good to grab somebody hand just to say that you are doing ok. :-) The people around you will help you carry on. I am at the other end of the phone should you wish to talk, chat, text, whatever. On the koi side of thing, your experience and you love for keeping koi is something that will keep you going, make you do things, and help you to focus, and make you happy. So if you have moved out, what is happening with the pond now? My question to you regarding chat for other video is: There seem to be a massive amount of tosai, dealers, UK koi farm, and a massive increase of selling/buying koi fry - what are you thought on the amount of people taking on fry and then reselling them? Do you think it is beneficial to the koi hobby/industry?

  • @DazzleKoi

    @DazzleKoi

    2 жыл бұрын

Hi Lau, and thank you very much for your kind words, it honestly does help no end to hear that. The response to the video has been truly amazing and at the same time a real eye opener in terms of just how many people suffer from mental health issues. My daughter has been incredible throughout and our relationship has benefited massively from all this. I really wouldn't be where I am now if it wasn't for her. at the moment I'm able to call round at the house after work for half an hour or so as my wife works later than me in the evenings so I can see my dog and tend to the pond. Hopefully this is something my wife will let me continue to do. Thats a great question and its a subject I do think about often when I see all the facebook posts. That's definitely something I have an opinion on and will share. Thank you. Stay safe 🥂🥂

Mental health will effect everyone at some point. It’s good to see the awareness being spread. Top guy not a easy thing to do, you’ve made progression and learnt things about yourself, and spread a message while doing so. What helped me were a mix of things friends, family and a intervention with psilocybin which gave me new found inspiration and held my ego up to the light (5g dose of psilocybin). Which has really done the trick I now mirco dose psilocybin from time to time and it really brings best out for me. Looking forward to the salt vid as I’ve just started using it, heard a lot of good information and we would value your take. Take care dazzle lad

Daz, this was a difficult watch, but in a positive way if that makes sense. It takes tremendous courage to be open about your poor mental health on such a large forum, so I applaud you for it. I send you my very best wishes that things will improve for you this year and going forward. I will be very interested to hear your views on salt, and like you I have a science based educational background, so I wonder if we have the same conclusions. I have always enjoyed your videos because of your scientific views. Interestingly, like you, I do not worry about temperature and respond to my fishes behaviour in the winter. I’ve always said “they can’t read a thermometer”. Good luck mate, and thank you for sharing. 👏🏻

Thanks Paul, I appreciate that a lot. Very true about the thermometer mate, I've only quite recently arrived at this point. I've always had a thermometer in the past but I realised that the one I had was miles out and it dawned on me that it didn't make any difference because I don't act on it. So I through it away and didn't bother replacing it. Its just yet another expense and complication that is not necessary. If anything its actually detrimental if anything as it stops you taking the time to learn your kois' behavior. All the best 🍻🍻

I truly hope you do find the strength to keep up the fantastic channel you have built. Sound like you're in the Midlands area as watching the Saints, I'm in a village near Northampton, so maybe see you around someday so I can buy you a pint to thankyou for sharing your knowledge. Hi Steve and thank you very much for your kind words. I'm getting straight now mate, getting back on track. I'm actually up in the North West in St Helens, its the St Helens Saints, rugby league. Although given they lost to the worst team in the history of super league today I should be keeping quiet about that 😁 Hopefully England can do a bit better against France but I'm not holding out much hope.

Ahh mate thanks for this, a very brave video that will definitely help others. I struggle with my mental health too, I’ve a pretty stressful sales job, a young family and am part of a team running an amateur boxing club so I feel like I’m 100mph all the time. I’ve literally just got my first small pond set up and my koi fry are delivered on Monday. I find having things to occupy my mind takes it away from other things. I’m hoping growing a batch of ten week old Koi will be a nice welcome distraction from the stresses of every day life. Thanks for the vids too I’ve watched quite a few now and subscribed to your channel. 💙

Great video Dazz! Well done for opening up! Sometimes there is a stigma attached to mental health and it’s about breaking that stigma and getting people talking about it! Which is what this video does! Mental health can affect anyone and it’s about living one day at a time! Keep yourself and your mind busy and the only way is up from here! I have struggled with my mental health and it kinda got me into koi keeping! It keeps me busy and my mind active, there is something about hand feeding your koi that puts a smile on your face and gives you a huge sense of satisfaction! As you move forward you will have good days and bad days. But as you get stronger and know how to handle the bad days better, they are not as bad as before and suddenly you’ll be having more good days. Never be ashamed to ask for help and enjoy the good days! The future is bright and looking forward to your next videos!

Hi Daz, This is your best video to date Daz, I can relate to your mental health problems after suffering from it for around 18 months, it is one of the hardest things i have gone through, i won't say i'm totally clear of it, but can manage it so much better than i did before. What is also as hard as living with a mental health problem, is accepting it and speaking about it. and applaud you for doing so. Mine was brought on by multiple things, me and by wife was in a car accident just after i took my wife for breast biopsies, we sustained minor injuries but 2 days after the accident my wife was diagnosed with cancer, only then to lose my dad to covid a couple of months later....I got the help that i needed and cried many tears, all the thoughts that came into my head i turned into a negative every time, i lost track of time and track of days and became very forgetful, a very scary time, but with support i'm thankfully over the worst of it....Keep doing what you love Daz especially the koi videos, there are brighter days ahead mate....take care.....P.S thanks for the advice of fishless media cycling!...Russ.

Hi Darren, great name by the way, and thank you very much. I'm hoping to get some weekends away in my little camper van with my dog and North wales is definitely in my sites. It wont be for several months (I don't like the cold 😁) but I may just take you up on that one day. Take care mate 🍻🍻👍🍻🍻

Well done for reaching out to get help, as allot of people don't and It's to late before anyone realises. Its all about spreading awareness so people can spot the signs. Chin up buddy and keep yourself motivated so you don't have to think about the small things.

Morning my man - welcome to the mental health club 👍🏼 Like you what I perceived as my normal caught up with me around 5 years ago. Subsequently had a breakdown due to a stack of big events at the time - renovating a property. Son was very ill, work was crazy etc etc. Seemed like the worst thing at the time but surprising how you build back stronger for it. I did CBT which like you say teaches you so much (for me it was so much I was doing wrong) I continue to take tablets - my reason is that I still haven’t got into good lifestyle habits like eating well, exercise and taking time to relax - I’m terrible really 😂 McDonald’s over veg any day 😉 Sometimes the Tv, the laptop etc need an update and reset - we are no different. Stay strong and enjoy learning about the new you and new way of life. You will have setbacks but don’t dwell on them - they are only temporary. Much love from us at Eden and here if you need us or just for a chat 😊👍🏼

Wow, thank you so much for this, it really means a lot that people who I have never actually met in person can relate and sympathise like that. Really great advice to, the setbacks and bad days can really set you back a long way if you don't appreciate that they are inevitable and all part of the process. I'm going to start playing golf again (not played for 10 years as I never have time) which I hope will be both time relaxing and also a bit of healthy exercise thrown in for good measure. Just need some better weather first 😁 Thanks again 🍻🍻🍻

Hi mate, sorry for the late reply, getting there now. More good days than bad. Been working on a salt video and a website to keep busy. I'm probably going to build a new little pond at my mums over the summer so I'll film that as I go along to 🍻🍻
