    Hi Suzanne, yes I think they are starting to fill out a bit now. Maybe less length but more volume. It will be down to the size limitations of my pond probably 🥂🥂

    Great vid. 2 things made my koi very bold. Netting for predators, and visiting the pond at the same times every day.

    Hi there, and thank you 👍🍻👍 Yes if your pond is visited by predators then providing some protection will definitely help to remove the fear the predator(s) cause. Consistency is key to, I believe being consistent is one of the most important things we can do in relation to keeping koi happy and healthy.

    Ive only recently discovered your channel. I must have subscribed to dozens of Koi related channels on my KZread, watched 100s of videos! Your videos are some of the best out there! I havent started the Koi hobby as of yet, I am still planning and taking up all information. I was hoping to get your opinion on Ozon, useful or not? And TDS? not sure if any of your videos have covered those subjects? Thanks and cheers from The Netherlands!

    Hi mate and welcome. Ozone can definitely have benefits but the time and money you invest is not really worth it where me and you are at at the moment. It can be an extra tiny benefit if you have ticked all the other boxes and have high end fish and want to extract every little nit of the potential you have paid for. I would forget about for now to be honest and maybe in a couple of years if you ace everything else come back and look in to it. TDS can be useful but its not something I use to be honest. It is a very rough indication of how much solid materials is dissolved in your water. If you measure your tap water and your pond water the difference is a guide to how well your filter system is performing. If you get the right filter in the right system and stock correctly, use good quality food, clean your filters regularly, then it is what it is really. I wouldn't get to hung up on it but it can be a useful indicator

    Hi Daz, great video as always, I personally feed my koi by hand and not auto feeder, I’ve found my koi to be waiting for me to feed them every time I approach my in ground pond, I personally think they are very use to me at the ponds edge and don’t spook so easily, as for having a chagoi in the pond I absolutely agree with you, keep well. 👍

    I bought my first koi on impulse because they were friendly. I don’t know what he is but you mentioning a Chagoi I think that’s what he is. He a ‘white’ boy with slightly yellow head and he’s brought the other two koi and three goldfish completely out of their shells. He’s actually too friendly at times and puts his head out of the water to my small dogs too, safe dogs btw. One question - I need to make a bigger pond as he’s growing so fast. Am I overfeeding him? He’s 9 inches now having grown very fast from the 6 inch fish I bought in April. Also it’s a ground pond and is netted at night because of his friendly attitude.

    Hi, no thats good normal growth. You can't really over feed them as they wont eat it if its to much. The only problem you could get is if your filter isn't up to speed and isnt able to cope with the ammonia but it sounds like its doing just fine 👍👍

    Hi Daz, regarding the filter I have my auto set to once a day as that is what I need to stop it backing up. From what you have said would I be better cleaning twice a day? I thought cleaning too often might be detrimental?

  • @DazzleKoi

    @DazzleKoi

    Hi hi, its a tough one this as in theory you cant clean to often. You wont do any harm cleaning twice a day. I would suggest having a look how much waste is in there just before it does its daily clean, I think you will be surprised at how much there is. If there is a lot then I would definitely increase it to twice a day and just keep an eye on everything for a few days, particularly your koi's activity and how much they eat, I think you will see it increase.

    Wheat Germ all year around? not only in lower temp?

  • @DazzleKoi

    @DazzleKoi

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi there, yes, 27 years now and always fed wheatgerm all year round. A friend of mine grew a chag to over 90cm on wheatgerm and had to sell it because it was to big for his pond. He replaced it and the same happened with the new one. Made me realise you don't need more protein than wheatgerm provides and other aspects are more important to grow. Less of the food ends up as pollution in your water which reduces appetite.

    I think you can over think about keeping koi, my pond has been going for 3 years with basic upkeep and it’s healthy the fish eat from my hand. It’s not scientific as your vids seem to portray, very confusing and in some respects misleading.

  • @DazzleKoi

    @DazzleKoi

    Interesting. So your pond water isn't clean, you dont clean your filters, you dont have oxygen going in, you feed poor quality food, you have chemicals in your pond all the time, you dont change any water, you're overstocked and you dont have a chagoi?
