hi! would you recommend playing an open A to emphasize the accents like you did or should we keep it closed?

Good question. Both fingering options are acceptable. I used first position with open A partly because of the acoustic in my studio. I felt that fingering gave me a bigger, bolder performance of the excerpt, and since most of the excerpt is ff or fff, I liked that. But third position works also, there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s a little more covered sound, and that’s why I chose first position. Good luck! 🍀👍
