@@exeterrider Just an FYI, Ive bought the bike and have changed the bars to Ventura VH8 ( New Zealand made ) which are slightly taller and more swept back which means I dont have to lean over the bars - as you pointed out - makes it more laid back in sync with the leg position, especially since Im roughly your height...thought others might be interested ...thanks again for a top review, really enjoyed watching it again

By the hundreds, riders are realising that the pure joy of motorcycling is available without the need to buy a machine that can achieve the speed limit in first gear. The modest price, beautiful styling and ease of ownership, are making this an unmissable option for new and returning riders. The way traffic regulations are heading, the 20 hp motorcycle is becoming a more and more attractive proposition. Royal Enfield will be selling these like hot cakes on a cold day! 👍👍

A simple Classic bike that does everything in perfect comfort, a joy to ride with out worrying about silly speeds, but instead just enjoying the journey. Very well made and finished, with lustrous paint work, especially the British Racing Green version that sparkles in direct sunlight. Plus mudguards that actually work and stop the mud !

Great review as usual, ER. With a few obvious differences it closely resembles the Enfields of the 60's for that nostalgic look. One of the main differences must be that it doesn't deposit most of the contents of its oil tank on the road during a ride out like some of the old British made Enfields did.

Thanks for another good video. Took the 350 for a 2 hour ride and loved it. Compared to my Classic 500 its certainly more refined, just as comfortable and around town and the lanes equally performs equally well. I'd say the 350 handles a tad better, has better brakes and up to 60mph there is very little to choose between them performance wise. My 500 is better at 70mph+ but I much prefer to keep it between 50 and 65mph which is its sweet spots, so its almost irrelevant. Regarding vibes, now that my 500 has been strictly run in and is up to 1700 miles, it's about equal. At the lower mileage of the test 350 bike, the newer version has less vibrations at the same mileage as my 500 if that makes sense. Mine has smoothed out compared to what it was and the engine/exhaust note has changed for the better. Love my C500 but if I was buying new today, I'd opt for the 350 in red and chrome as it has the edge. Not enough to make me chop mine bike in and lose money though. Regards, Peter

Why don’t manufacturers give us full fenders and not those art school useless pieces of plastic which throws muck and salt all over the engine? Great review as always, and keep ‘em coming.

The build quality and superb gear box make this a bike to just enjoy the ride, it is liberating not rushing around at silly speeds all the time.

A very nicely made review there ER ! You clearly have a lot of love for this bike, even if ultimately it wasn't enough to part you from your own money ! You are right that 50-55mph is the ideal speed for enjoying the Classic 350. At that speed it simply purrs along and is so comfortable and relaxing to ride. The only thing to match that feeling is doing the same on the Meteor 350. These bikes are so enjoyable to ride at those sort of speeds. They don't require anything of you, you can just keep the bike in its current gear and enjoy the scenery and nudging the bike through the bends. The RE 350s really do have so much character and they deliver the pure essence of the joy of motorcycling. 100 mpg is easily achievable at 50-55 on both RE 350s, not a problem at all. It's great being able to go out for three Sunday rides in a row without having to fill up again first ! I love that because I hate filling up, it's just a faff. I've had a couple of little niggles with my Classic 350 as you know, nothing major, but the Meteor has been perfect and has done nearly 6000 km without an issue. Both bikes feel incredibly hefty and solid, no sense that these are cheap Chinese retro knock-offs. Everything around the bikes is properly finished, RE obviously take a lot of care to make sure that their bikes look like a quality product these days. The actual quality seems to be on a par with any other manufacturer, I see no reason for anybody to be worried about buying an RE. In general they are beautifully made and as a result they do seem to hold their value pretty well. With the low price of entry, I think you could run one of these bikes for a year, sell it and not lose much money at all. As you know, overall I still say that the Meteor is the better all round bike, it's cheaper and also has more toys. But for those looking for a classic looking package, the Classic 350 is a very good option and a purchase you almost certainly would never regret. Thank you too for the mention in this video, very kind of you ER 🥰 Take care mate and keep up the good work, ER ( El Otro )

@@exeterrider Hi ER, do you know how many miles that bike had on it ? Torque improves massively between 350 and 1500 miles. It does have less torque than the 500 of course but my Meteor with 6000 km on it will happily pull up most long gradients in fifth gear. When it was new, I was looking at fourth or maybe even third. Maybe you need to try one with 1500+ miles on it before deciding. Anyway, your enthusiasm for the bike really came through in the review, you clearly like it. Not that I’m nudging you at all in one direction or another 😉 If you can’t test a Classic.with 1500 miles on it, maybe they’ll have a Meteor with that many miles on it. That would give you a better idea of what to expect. The Classic has slightly higher gearing because the rear wheel is one inch bigger but you’ll get a good idea what to expect from a fully run in Classic. I think it is plenty strong enough for the sort of riding you should be doing with it. It will always hold 55-60mph in any situation and those are the sort of speeds you should be doing on a Classic anyway. More power would largely be wasted. If I can help you with anything, ask away. Personally, when it’s run in, I think you’d find the Classic’s performance to be “adequate”, which is bang on really, why pay for performance you never use ? Cheers ER 🥃🥃 El Otro.

@EconomicalRides ha, I think I'm still in the running to get one but I hardly ride the bikes I have already, so adding to the pot I may have to lose one. The one in the vid only had 350 miles, so was brand new still. Much to think about 🤔👍

@@exeterrider Yep, in that case it was just at the point where, normally, the engine starts improving rapidly. Although that one has probably been ragged from day one, so not sure whether that means it would have been better or worse than mine at the same mileage 🤔 Like I said, if you can’t get a go on a 1500 mile Classic, see if you can find a 1500 mile Meteor, that will be more or less what you could expect from a fully run in Classic 👍 If I can pull up a big hill in fifth gear, I consider that adequate. My Meteor can do it and my Classic with 800 miles on it, is slowly getting there. Cheers 🥃 El Outro 😉

Good value for the money. CMS are very good to deal with imho. I thought I’d want a Classic 350 as a second bike. Sadly I soon realised the novelty would wear off, so not for me in the long run. I thought it a good bike to keep motorcycling skills in good repair as it is so basic. Although I’m happy to poodle around the lanes and back roads, I also appreciate the power and higher spec of a modern, more powerful, bike. Especially as I prefer to keep to just one bike. I am 67 and I last rode a bike when I was 18. I had a Lambretta GP200. I have a strong urge to get back on a bike again and the Classic 350 ticks all the boxes! Sadly, I never bothered taking my test when I was a kid, so I would have to start from scratch. In your opinion....am I mad to want to get on a bike at my age? By the way, I was down in Torbay over the weekend and thought I would pop into CMS on the Monday...only to find that they are closed on Mondays....

Steve , your not mad. You would even enjoy a little 125cc , so perhaps start there on L plates. But do it now mate, no time to waste! to make the most of this year!! Start tommorow mate, keep me up to date with how you get on please. Its not too late to start if you start tommorow

I like both, but from my research, most prefer the meteor, I can see why, the engine sits the meteor more than the classic I think it's fair to say.... Hope that helps and there is no wrong decision, but if your in 2 minds then go meteor👍

I've owned a Benelli Imperiale 400 great looker but so much wrong that somehow escaped development in China and Italy especially the suspension and fueling but having riden the Royal Enfield Classic 350, simply it is better in most if not all respects and to prove my point how many Imperiale's do you ever see on the road?

Yes , Royal Enfield is the only way to go with these bikes. Everything they do, is brilliant work.

Yeah beautiful bike, thing of beauty actually. Riding it? I test rode a RE Interceptor 650 and I thought that was ...pensive...slow. ! But a RE 350 ? I'd find it painful - struggling to do 60mph? You got to wring the poor little engine's neck to keep up with traffic on a main road. They built it too heavy almost 200kilos , probably heavier than my Gixxer - if it was 30kilos lighter that would help matters. - or get more power out of it - its running low compression ratio , 8.5/1 - - the Yamaha R3 is more like 11.5
