Royal Enfield Meteor 350 - The One That Got Away

I was looking to upgrade my Herald Classic 125cc last year and almost put in an order for the new Meteor 350 Fireball, in Yellow. Instead, I ended up buying one of the last of the 500 Classics, The Tribute Black.
Now a year later, I've decided to take the Meteor 350 Fireball out for a spin and at last discover the bike that got away!

About the flipflop situation that's probably part of the story, a true part that is, as in most of 3rd world underdeveloped countries (I'm from Brazil, here is the same) many many people do ride with bare feet or using flipflops...

What?! I'm from Peru and I've never seen anyone riding with flipflops or bare feet. I think it has to do with common sense

Flip flip story is correct, for that matter I would ride with a flip flop in any part of the world and for riding with a flip flop I don't need a heel shifter, though it definitely makes life easier. I think the RE just tried it on the meteor to see how it will fly with its customer base and I think the reaction overall has been positive.

Interesting video. Funny, I have a Honda CMX500 Rebel (nice bike but not the most comfortable) and am going to trade it in for a Meteor next spring - if there's any left! I watch hundreds of videos of bike tests and I cannot think of one negative review of the Meteor, everyone loves it! That is exceptional. Anyway, enjoy your 500, take care and ride safe.

Wow so interesting to hear that you’ve decided to move away from the Honda. A bike should make you smile and I’m sure you’re gonna love the Meteor. I think it looks fantastic and it’s such an easy bike to ride. Enjoy your new journey ahead, and safe riding to you too.

As a return biker with a history of big BMWs, and I love my Meteor which I have owned over the last 12 months. Great for biking. Less suitable for motorways/long dual carriageways, or keeping up with fast riders. If you share this mindset, you will love it!

It is quite true, we use flip flops to go out for the market or a haircut . incase of office goers if you have your boots on still you don't need to put your toe beneath the gear lever to change it and thereby keeping your boots always shining even in front of your horrible bosses....

I know I lived in the UK 50 mikes NW of London for 4 years. Here in the states, you absolutely would get run over by cars and trucks and killed!.

Thanks. I use a Tascam DR 10L external mic, with 2 foam wind shield mic covers; and then sync the audio afterwards. I know others feed mics directly into their GoPros but I’ve used this method for years and so am quite used to syncing audio afterwards. Hope that helps. Stay safe x

@@TheBikingActor Those of us who've been biking a little longer (OK… A lot longer) might well have seen, and ridden with, heel and toe clutches… on old Indians (real 'Springfield' Indians, not the new Polaris bikes), or on earlier Harleys, like the old WL 45, or other pre-sixties' models equipped with hand gear change and foot clutch (an option on some models through the sixties too)… Heel and toe gear change has been standard on Harley's touring range for years. If you really want to try oddball controls, try a Ner-A-Car, with its twistgrip clutch on the left handlebar, hand lever gear change, and twin lever throttle (air and fuel) on the right. If that's not confusing enough, it has hub centre steering, with the front wheel not turning as much as the bars and invisible from the saddle due to the huge fixed frame mounted front mudguard, along with both brakes (handlebar lever, and foot pedal) operating on the rear wheel (two brakes, one either side of the hub). It's a shame I can't upload a pic of my brother on his 1925 model.
