Wow, great review Moto-Man!!! I have owned two GTS cars. The last was a 991.1 2016 Cabriolet. I survived a head-on collision 💥 from a Chevy Silverado 3500 Dually pick-up. The guy was running from the Police and hit me going 79mph. I was going 28mph turning through a 60• turn being the 3rd car in line. I only had enough time to say “Oh” not enough reaction time to say “Oh Shit”. The 3 airbags in the Porsche saved my life. 7 surgeries later I am almost back to normal after 3 years. Had I been in my convertible Corvette I would have been killed. So safety in a Porsche is most definitely proven. The price of my 2016 GTS Cabriolet was $145K and it was loaded in options. This GTS Coupe at $170K is just too damn expensive and overpriced by Porsche. Add 20K more and buy the 911 Turbo for significantly improved car. I replaced my destroyed GTS with a 2019 991.2 Turbo S. This is my 17th Porsche. I say save and get the Turbo or Turbo S. The GTS coupe should be priced at no more than 150K with lots of options. Rear steering & PDCC should be included in the GTS price. Every damn Porsche should include lane departure & warning plus the software only enhanced power steering plus. (Ridiculous what Porsche steals from its loyal customers!!!!!!

Good to hear that you’re almost completely back. I don’t have the extensive Porsche history you have had, but I feel the same way. Now into my mid 50’s, it’s harder to justify the cost of ownership when tracking is not as appealing. Porsche (and Rolex,lol) have gotten absurd, except the entry 992.
These options are jaw dropping along with their prices. It makes for a great video, nice work!
Great overview and even better video. Also, it’s nice that someone on KZread recognizes that they need to let you watch the video before they ask you to comment and like it. It’s surprising how many people get that backwards.
Great vid as usual! Wow what a beautifully engineered vehicle! 🙌🏼
Excellent review of the GTS. I have a 992 C2S Manual and think it is as good as it gets for the road. The GTS price is my obstacle, as the upgrades are likely imperceptible for street drivers. The S is so fast and the transmission is identical, the colors are the same. love the car, but its hard to say yes to the price.
Great review. That shifter looks buttery smooth, how does it compare to the ones in a Honda? (I think Honda has some of the best manuals)
Yeah, this was fantastic. Great work!
the driving position of Porsche is a dream car.. all day & long distances as well as daily ride..
Great review. Thanks so much
Can’t decide between Targa GTS vs GTS coupe. I love the looks of the targa but concerned about what I have heard about wind noise and rattling of the targa mechanism. I probably won’t use the roof open much 🙄just like the looks. Can you comment on the drive differences?

Absolutely lovely car. Wouldn't be surprised if Porsche dealers make you play the "Buy a Macan or Cayenne to get one" games.
Speaking of Targa, M, did you see the new Ares Design 992 Targa? Mama Mia! They fitted it with a proper widebody that's an inch and half wider upfront and three inches outback. The 964 Turbo vibes are very very strong with that one. All that car needs is a whale tail & multispiece wheels. Back to the GTS, Porsche knocked out of the park with this one, I just wish they carried over the center exhausts from the 991.2 Excellent work like always, M. The rolling footage was magnificent.

The big issue with the sport front fascia is that you lose the active shutters, and you lose the protection for the radiators. That’s a big problem: now a stone can puncture one of those radiators, which will put an end to your journey. Note how the GT cars have a mesh grill to protect the radiators!

@@slowgreencar3734 there are issues, check the forum. AMG GT cars had no protection in the first year, but then MB added mesh filters and retrofitted all cars. Porsche should do the same. If a stone nicks a radiator fin you are stranded! This is not a minor mishap - you are waiting for a tow.

Okay… I had to come back and find this episode. RWD Targa GTS, add back the sport suspension, Heritage interior *WITH* ventilated seats (seriously, c’mon Porsche), manual transmission. If I’m really greedy, add the GT3 motor (a man can dream). Call it the Porsche 911 Targa R Porsche, I would write a check.

I have said it before and will say it again, front axle lift should be fitted as standard on all these types of cars. Yes, pricey at US$3K, but you will save that and then some by avoiding trips to the body shop. Ask me how I know:)

In my younger days, I always thought Porsches were underpowered. But the older I get the more I see how power is NOTHING without control. The 911 is the perfect car for what it is. There isn't another car better when you rate it based upon: Price Value (holding it over time) Reliability Styling Performance Daily Drivablilty NOTHING is close to the 911 IMO. What a great car. Im interested to see how the 911 electrifies over time. I think they may take the lambo route and move towards hybrid technology. That makes more sense especially being Porsche enthusiasts don't want EVs.

Make mine a Targa, I'll trade the 300 lbs weight penalty for the look. Sorry, but even after almost 60 years of 911's only the Targa and the Speedster are actually good looking. Trying to decide between 18 way seats or full buckets, what’s your take on the full buckets? Are they comfortable? Is the lack of adjustments a problem?
@MotoManTV
2 жыл бұрын
Tough call. Great for the track. Good support. Changes the entire personality of the car. Ingress/egress is severely hampered. Very personal decision for everything but a full on GT car. In the GT cars, the question is whether or not the added US$5,900 increases the value of the car.
@gordydexter2615

I have the 18 way seats in my 2019 Turbo S. Fantastic seats. Best seats for me ever. Not difficult to get in or out. The buckets are for track. If you track then get them but I cringe at paying $5900 dollars for seats that Cheap-Porsche should include in the price of the car. I highly recommend the 18-way seats. All leather too. Do not like swede/racedex. It doesn’t wear well over time. Totally BS on such an expensive car.

I have bucket seats in my GT4. My parents think they're comfortable. Just not very friendly getting in or out of
Ceramic brakes are TOTALLY worth it!
great value is a tuned carrera s
So, I’m curious about a car like this. Does the car come with the upgraded seat package? And would they happen to be a fixed back seat? I’m building my first car, kinda following Porsche’s model and I’m looking at sparco r333 seats, but I want to know if a competition fixed back seat with nice upholstery is worthy of being a DAILY driver? 😅
@ThorsteinKlingenberg
2 жыл бұрын
I would LOVE a GT3 with rear seats. But sadly, it won't happen. So the GTS is the second best thing. But if you add the lightweight package or just the buckets you loose the rear seats! Which is the whole point (for me) about the GTS. Everyday usability. I have a small girlfriend and she fits in the back just fine so we're three people in the car quite regularly, at least monthly. I like that versatility. Now the worst part is Porsche makes folding buckets. Hell, even my 981 Cayman GTS buckets folded. They folded to nothing of course since there isn't anything behind the Caymans seats but yeah. It's a bit weird.
@Diamondsintherubble
2 жыл бұрын
@@ThorsteinKlingenberg I’m wondering about fixed back comfort. My car is going to have a roll cage in it, so only the front 2 seats will be usable. The rear will have things like the fusebox, fire extinguisher, front harness, and maybe small luggage. Another thing I’d like to know about the seats is the support. The side bolsters on the reclining sparco r333 looks to be made only of foam, with no “backbone” inside them. Whereas, a sparco competition seat like the grid-q has stiff support in the side bolsters. The car isn’t going to be cornering INSANELY hard, however it’ll have a nice feel around twisty roads. And has to fit a wide range of driver’s/passengers from petite women/kids to semi-large men
A manual targa would be the perfect Porsche.
I would like the return of the PCM delete option. You can order lightweight glass, carbon bucket seats, but not the removal of heavy speakers, wires, and the navigation system? Please Porsche, correct this immediately.
@jimm1240

@davidowen2859
2 жыл бұрын
Not that I care, as my daily is a Panamera but by the time I add all the options i want to the Carrera S that are standard on the GTS (sports exhaust, PASM, sport design kit, sport chrono etc etc) I end up about 2K more for the GTS. So I get a better drivers car for 2K with less paid for extras so better depreciation and a car that holds its value better as well. Pretty much a no brainer. But don't tell everyone🤪
With the increased price in these cars, I'm not so sure if it's a value to pay $170k for a Carrera GTS.
You sure do shift a lot.
I hope a manual 992 GTS is more engaging than a 992 base auto. I drove the latter and was thoroughly unimpressed - at least compared to an AMG GTC. The 992 base was a bore, felt cheap inside… and I couldn’t wait to return it.
