When I was a kid and first watching MotorWeek, there wasn't much at all that could lay down a 0-60 in 5.9 or a quarter in 14.5 at 95, regardless of the badge. That said, I think that either of my grandfathers would've been skeptical of such a huge vehicle with a 215 cu in v6 laying down numbers like that. Today is the golden age of car performance.

Kind of funny. Many years and many pounds ago, I owned a 1985 Mustang GT, one of the hottest American cars on the road (yes I said “one of”). Just for giggles, I looked up the performance of an’85 GT, depending on who you asked, the quarter mile was between 14.3 and 14.9. The 60 mph stopping distance was somewhere around 200 ft and the mileage was 16 city and 24 highway. This is the funny part, the performance of this behemoth matches or exceeds the mid 80s hottest cars while getting about the same mileage and able to carry 4 or more additional passengers and their luggage.

Fords have had power adjustable pedals for over 20 years & I'm surprised that most automakers don't use them too. They're great for tall people and also help keep short people farther from the airbag & dash in a collision.

@@axelmacias6245 As North American automakers developed new innovations, they were always introduced first on the top Cadillacs or Lincolns. Usually 2 or 3 years before any other models had the features.
I liked the engine covers that came with the V8 Navigators and the early V6’s, now when you pop the hood you only get to see lots of rubber, plastic and some metal but nothing nice to the eye, and you could understand that in the Bronco, but not in here, not when you are competing with the Escalade and Grand Wagoneer. I wonder if a more relaxed 4.0L twin turbo V8 would give better fuel economy than the stressed 3.5L V6, cause from my previous experience smaller engines pushed hard use more fuel than larger but lower revving ones.
@corssecurity
Жыл бұрын
Smaller hi rev engines burn out faster but unless you are loaded up with the whole family, pulling a trailer & sticking your foot in it at every stop light, I'm sure the a six cyl is adequate. Blame the government fuel economy standards. At Idle or light use which is mostly how they are used less cyl less fuel. I still think it should come standard with the biggest engine Ford made. Turbo schmurbo! Horsepower. If Fiat can build a Patriot with a V8 Hemi then Ford can stick the 7L under the bonnet
I still love this one, but Lincoln need some fresh designers. The Aviator is hands down next looking suv on the road but this is not

0-60 sure isn't bad, and better than I thought a v-6 turbo could move that beast. But I am terribly concerned about the engines ability and longevity when towing anything. Regular gas engines by their design are not good fuel efficient haulers. But the torque found in a V-8 and the fewer RPM's needed driving when towing still seems superior than a v6. And both inferior to a diesel engine.
Also note, that crash survivability in a Lincoln Navigator is extremely high. That's worth something...maybe everything.

Much nicer than the gross Escalade
Still a 6 cylinder !taho or Chevy v8 with deactivation! Hmm which one?
I'm not a Ford guy but although this Navigator looks great honestly Lincoln as a brand is not reliable. They bring back the Continental as FWD then kill it off in favor of the SUVs and crossovers SMDH
It's definitely an improvement over what they used to be but frankly it doesn't hold a candle to an escalade or even a denali in my opinion it's still a Ford and it's still kind of garish
