I know people want to see wins, but to get one of those someone is going to have to make a mistake. These guys are both under tremendous pressure and are still playing essentially perfect chess. In our instant gratification world, people complaining about draws are missing the fact that both Magnus and Nepo are playing phenomenally despite what their opponent is throwing at them.

I’m pretty happy with how this game went- it was intense and I think it was rather instructive how Magnus defended. But I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t disappointed it ended in a draw. Each of these last games they’ve gotten so close to entering a more unbalanced and winnable position, but then they seem to just break the tension and they go into an calmer endgame. I really hope we get at least one game where that doesn’t happen.

Each day is a continuation from the previous game, not a separate entity. It's like watching two shaolin masters fighting on a tightrope. How about actually appreciating the world championship of the sport / hobby that we all claim to love. When you watch an Olympic wrestling match, you don't expect every match to end in a pin. This is what happens when two of the top people go at it at something. How about before pooing on the championship that we have all been waiting on, we can build our community up and attempt to understand and appreciate the level of what we are experiencing. Get hype! These lines are sick!

Normal people don't understand the beauty of these games. Thats the sad part. Most of the people complaining are probably people who started chess because of Queens Gambit and general surge of chess popularity over covid. They are too caught up with the results and not the insanity of the moves, or the amazing plans the players come up with.

Well the difference there is more about the time control rather than a rating disparity. If a GM spent 3 min on one move in a rapid game, everyone would criticize their time control as well

...what I wouldn't give to watch IM Levy Rozman give live coverage of the game at the venue. All expenses paid, with Lucy in tow.

Thanks for the updates! Great job compressing it down to 20-30 minutes. That’s why I keep coming back!
