My 2008 Tundra crewmax gets 13-15 L/100km @ 120km/hr. At 100km/h the read out bounces around at 11 L/100km. It's thirsty for sure, but I know it will always have my back and sound GREAT!!!

Ikr, I installed trd pro cold air intake and trd exhaust and it just sounds so sexy, it has that perfect whistle and air intake sound, so I’m glad someone else enjoys that sound off and it really gives you that torque for sure

Great content as always. You should ask Dodge for a three month long term test. Then Nissan for a six month long term test. Then Chevy for a nine month long term test. See where I'm going with this??? ;)

Absolutely love my 2020 TRD sport, it was $53,000 Canadian as well, still cloth but has dual zone climate control, keyless entry and start as well as the Trd sway bars which help with towing a lot. It’s thirsty for sure and outdated but I like that it’s not on the leading edge of technology, I trust it to be dependable.

Just got a 2021 Limited, fully loaded for $56,000 USD. Absolutely love it! Something about having simple and smooth working electronics makes me like my tundra more. Who needs a tv as a center console🤷🏽‍♂️

Plus the radar cruise is awesome and standard on the tundra, every other truck it’s optional and typically a very expensive option at that. Now that I’ve had it I don’t think I could go back to driving a truck without it lol.

Take my advice as someone who has owned all late model trucks in 1500 and has to tow 9000lbs with them.. Nothing beats the tundra for usable power and stopping power.. nothing beats the durability of the drivetrain of the tundra.. it’s rides softer and because of that is why you get less payload and more sway when towing.. invest the $600 and put airbags in the rear end.. you’ll be able to haul another tundra in the bed while towing a 9000lb trailer and still retain the factory ride when daily driving.. I have 310k. Ike’s on my tundra and 165ish if that is towing 9k lbs to 12k lbs while also running another 1000lbs in the bed.. the brakes can take it the engine can pull it… I’ve had to replace one rear wheel bearing, water pump only cause it was leaking and I had them replace it when doing the alternator just in case.. the rear bearing cause why replace just one.. and that is it… I still daily this truck everyday have not desire to get another vehicle and when my daughter starts driving in another year I’ll hand it down to her cause even after all the abuse it’s been through.. it’s still more reliable then my wife’s last two brand new vehicles.. I take that back.. third.. The only other vehicle I would consider for a 1500 truck that drives nice in the road and is capable towing would be a GMC… not Chevy.. checks are little stiffer sprung most of the time and ride worse unloaded.. but honestly they do bot stop or tow as good as the old tundras for regular less if what paper says.. Ford’s are just broken all around.. the eco boost wil overheat when towing heavy and they ride like shit cause they chase that king of the payload paper tiger number.. Rams Independent rears ride nice however they don’t hold up well over time.. bot major issues but maintenance is much higher and the wear and tear to the drivetrain is much more noticed as everything starts leaking front to back.. I’m sure the new tundra will be 400hp and 450tq super nice interior and exterior.. but even though the economist Ford makes more power and has higher towing in paper then the 5.0 the 5.0 tows way nicer… why? Cause it’s a v8 and no matter how you change it up…. Trucks that do real work need big motors.. those 10speed transmissions do nothing to make up for it either.. turbo charged v6 are for racing v8s are made for work.. Major downside to the tundras when you work them hard.. you have to replace rotors every time you do pads cause no one makes quality rotors for them.. they all warp however even towing you’ll get 50k plus out of the pads..

in full size this would be my only choice. build quality and reliability sacrifice mpg now and save very expensive repairs and maintenance

@@krasnaludek298 Ford is a good truck. Reliability is a issue though. If you don't mind going to the service department a lot. I bought an escape (2013). It had an Evo boost for gas mileage. After the 3rd motor was replaced at 34 thousand miles, suspension replaced, sunroof motor replaced, transmission plate fixed, missing bolts. I have service reports as thick as encyclopedia. Traded it in for a Toyota chr. No looking back. Toyota every day for me.

I went from a 2017 F-150 Lariat to a 2021 Tundra TRD Pro double cab, and the overall experience is so much better in the TUndra. Yes it is old tech...but that's why I love it.

Generally one press without brake will turn on some accessories, 2 presses without brake will turn on all the accessories. Then of course button plus brake to start it

For my preference, it's actually a huge downer for me when I find out a car has "Push to Start" I like the key 100000x better

This gen Tundra is essentially the same truck as my '07 with a (very) few upgraded amenities. That said, the design is old as time, but it'll also be around long after the other trucks will have been living in the mechanic's garage more often than your own. It is a very thirsty engine, but on the flip side, it gets 11mpg whether it's towing a trailer or just itself. The tradeoff being simplicity is reliable, aka, if it ain't broke... If you're at all into aftermarket support, the Tundra is like the Lego of trucks. Everybody makes upgrade parts for it!

I bought this exact 2021 Toyota Tundra SR5 Trail Edition in Cement and LOVE IT! It's not the TRD PRO, but then it again only cost me $48K after taxes.

Another great perk of leasing a new tundra is the free 2 year/25,000 Toyota care. Free oil changes and tire rotations. If you do the 3 year 36k mile lease you maintenance is covered for free for most of you lease. It also comes with the 3 year 36k miles bumper to bumper warranty meaning anything that might happen is covered under warranty for the whole lease. Plus high residential mean low payments.

I love this gen of Tundra. A friend of mine drives a 2008 Limited and holy crap it feels so fast for a big truck even if almost every single modern pickup is faster. It's such a cool piece of machinery

First of all I love yalls channel and all your reviews. I sell Toyotas in Texas and have personally owned 4 tundras. One of witch was a 2011 4.6L single cab with 314,000 miles. They have been amazing trucks that you can beat up and not feel guilty about. You buy a truck to put it to work right? Not baby it and look good at your local grocery store. My current truck is a 2012 2wd double cab with the 5.7. I have a gooseneck ball and air bags and can comfortably tow about 12k lbs. I tow cars for my dealership all the time with no problems. Also you can get the SR5 with the leather from the factory. It's just a separate package. The SR5 is the build it how you need it trim with a very long list of available options. Also you didn't mention the adjustable height head lights witch are ment to be pointed down if you are hauling something heavy and the truck squats and your front end lifts. 100% tundra all the way. Also resale value is unbeatable.

I currently own a 2021 Trail Boss, my previous 3 trucks were all Toyotas (2 Tundras and 1 Tacoma with over 100k miles). Toyotas never once had to go to dealer for anything other than regular maintenance. When my exwife totaled the Tacoma after it had 110k miles and was 7 years old I got a 16k check for it. My Chevy has less than 10k miles and has already been to the dealer for warranty work. Even with that said I love my Chevy so much more than any of the Toyotas. Just more character, more comfortable, and more features.

I think the TRD OFF ROAD packaged is good in this truck

I just got myself a Silverado trail boss. Very happy with my choice. The ram has to soft suspension in the back for any actual work.

I really wanted to like this truck. I read all the reviews. I knew all about it’s horrible gas mileage but something about it’s old school toughness spoke to me. Then you test drive one. And feel all the hard surfaces in the interior. And feel how the shifter is all loose and hard plastic. And they want 50k for it. I’m so glad they are finally doing a new one. Buyers want toyota reliability but the interior needs to match the price tag.

ram 1500 eco diesel is like, the best truck i’ve ever rode in, my dad has one and it’s great on gas and it rides smooth

Thanks to Toyota for coming out with this Tundra which started everything when it came out with the 5.7 v8 The big 3 got afraid and started building better engines, only the Silverado SS and the Harley Davidson with the supercharger was faster but them 5.4/4.6 or GM 4.8/5.3/6.0 couldn’t touch the iforce 5.7 performance wise

If u haven’t yet try using the tow/haul option. Night and day personality for the truck

Can't wait for the Ram review and to see which kne you guys pick. But I think if Ferrarri can get away with an old fashioned key then Toyota definitely can especially since it's less money

Ram with air suspension should be next. It's what I'm looking into for my towing

"Off-road" suspension is softer, which explains the bouncing while towing. If that really bothers you, try the other non-offroad versions.

The trail edition doesn't come with offroad shocks. It's basically just an sr5 tundra with 18 inch wheels and mild at tires. The trd suspension which is basically bilstein 4600 shocks is found on thr trd offroad package. They are stiffer than the factory black shocks found on trail Edition and standard tundra

#suggestion, when you test the ram, get the smaller 3.0 liter diesel. Great power train. Also ensure you get top line trim for the massive screen, gorgeous interior, and giant sun roof.

2008 over 200,000 miles. Replaced the water pump. Tundra is the definition of reliable.

Definitely try the RAM, I use the 1500 to haul my race car too. Works well with the V8 Hemi, and is quite comfortable without the trailer. Also has massive room in the back seat for all kinds of race car kind of things....

I just bought a 2021 f150 lariat and it’s the most comfortable truck I have ever drove I’m surprised that Thomas keeps saying it’s stiff!!!

I have no need for a truck, but if I did, tech and "fancy" modern features are the last things I'd want like in the F150, RAM, etc. Sure I'd expect Bluetooth, CarPlay/Android Auto and heated seats, which at this point are pretty much car industry standards, but beyond that, buying a truck to haul/tow, as far as mechanically, and the interior, as long as it's reliable and comfortable, the simpler the better, especially with the dash layout. This Tundra would be hands down my choice today, especially with a new one around the corner. I'd rather take the discounts and incentives Toyota is bound to offer to clear out the older models then have the new redesigned model, especially if it's main goal is to haul/tow.

It’s a beast of a truck. I’ve had it do just about everything. Tow. Haul furniture and appliances in the back. Haul wood. Fit a million people inside its “comically” spacious cabin which everyone appreciates. Go on dates in it. Go fast as hell in it. Get out of stuck terrain in it. Get one while you still can with the v8. Also apple car play works more than fine. It just takes about 4 seconds to boot up, lll take that for a truck that’ll last

The 2022 Tundra might be the winner, it looks promising

I'm leasing a 2021 Tundra and my fuel mileage is as follows: worst, 10 mpg. best down hill, 30 mpg best level freeway 21 mpg, it all averages out to 15.5 mpg. BTW I can't stop driving it for very long it's just way too comfortable, went to Death Valley when the outside temp read 122 degrees, the inside of my Tundra was a very nice 78 degrees, and there was no sign of overheating, in fact the coolant temp gauge didn't move

I have a 2020 Tundra Trd pro and I have push to start and every other feature you can get on the Tundra it’s available on the truck they just want you to pay for it. And as far as the light steering feel if I’m not mistaken it has hydraulic steering I hear it every time I turn the car off makes this noise I actually like.

i had a tundra and i loved it, the reason i got rid of it was because those trip to the gas station was expensive and very frequent.

Titan. It got a refresh within the last few years.

I’ve never driven an F-450, but every other Ford truck from the Ranger through the F-550 is under damped on the front. I never found issue with the rear suspension in the F-150, but every other Ford truck would benefit from softer, longer travel rear suspension.

Nah, once you're into the superduty's you're past the daily drivers and into people who actually want to move weight. The stiffer suspension is far better for this.

@@mp40submachinegun81 My everyday work truck is an F-550 so I speak from experience. The rear suspension is too stiff, it should be softer and longer travel. I keep about 1,000 pounds of crap in the back of it all the time to make the ride bearable, that leads to about 10% worse fuel efficiency. My company also has a couple F-250s and an F-350; I have the same complaint about all of them, it's not the capacity of the 550 that requires it to be that way. You could get the same capacity or with longer travel, lower rate springs; that introduces squat, but squat can be countered with pneumatic leveling. Personally, I'd still rather deal with the squat than have to carry an extra half ton of random crap with me everywhere just because twice a month I need to carry 2.5 tons.

Although I know I’m stupid for it, I’m so hopefully for the next gen. This gen has looked so old even when it was new. Come on Toyota!

Try a Titan for sure! The Ram would also be nice, but the coil springs tend to get a bit squishy when you put a load on them.

The 2021 F150 you tested had the FX4 package, which imo makes the truck dance around too much over even small imperfections. On the highway it’s not too bad but around city streets, it’s too harsh. I’ve had a few FX4 F150’s and that’s my experience. Foregoing this package improves the ride a lot.

Agreed. I have a 21 with the FX4 and the ride isn't great. The shock tuning just isn't conducive to small imperfections. I went with it for the rock crawl mode and locking rear diff. I did test drive a 21 Tundra though. The ride was dreamy, but it was the only thing I liked. That V8 is sluggish compared the 3.5 EcoBoost.

Just bought a 2021 limited with the trd package be liner running board etc....this past Thursday. Took 3 weeks to come in. Had to go new since used trucks are through the roof but still over paid compared to what these reviewers say prices should be. $52,500 and about 57k out the door. But I do love it so far. These guys are worried about gas mileage. It's a truck. If your worried about gas buy a crossover or car. Those other 10 speeds and v6 turbos, yea they get better gas mileage but will break down over time especially if you will be towing at all consistently. Look at all the recalls all those other trucks have already and those are basically new trucks. Wait till the have 100k in them and then let's see what bothers you and what doesn't.

Just wait for the next gen coming out a little bit later

To anyone that doesn’t know much about the Tundra is that Toyota hasn’t not updated or remodeled the Tundra since 2015. The Tundra only has an average gas mileage of 9 miles per gallon when hauling a Small trailer that is 12,000 lbs. Couple of things you should do if you buy the Tundra is to upgrade the suspension, install a led light strip under the tailgate as additional brake light, change the headlights to leds, install diode dynamics fog lights as the are a lot brighter then the stock fog lights, buy and have installed a 3/4 ton rear axle instead of using the stock 1/2 ton rear axle, and finally and most needed is to black out all the chrome parts.

I love my Tundra. But am still looking forward to the new Hybrid Tundra.

There is a solution to the seat material, Clazzio seat covers. I have a set of leather covers in my 2019 work truck and it’s great! And if I do mess them up I can just replace sections.

If you need a truck to keep for a lot of years and to put a lot of miles buy this, if you need a big vehicle to compensate for something go get whatever
