I did 4000 miles on my GSX650F sport touring bike in 3 months haha. I want one of these. I'm well aware how well Suzuki makes a comfortable and fun machine. Always so smooth with a great mid band surge. All day comfort and no gimmicks and buttons littering the machine. The pillion seat, however would be an issue. Can't seem to keep my lady off the back of the GSX650F 😅😉. Either way, Suzuki builds some of the best REAL WORLD machines. The world isn't a track and you're rarely actually at redline. They know that, and they focus on that.

1,000 CC is the way to go ;) A lot of people turn their noses up at Suzuki, but they have clearly decided to go for the value end of the market, and I quite like them. Nearly got the F version instead of my Z1000SX, but what tipped my hand was the pillion seat and comfort, as I wanted to take my daughter and my dad riding. Great review, buddy!

Good info on the bike. I'm interested because as a Kawa Z70S owner I'd like to upgrade to something that has good frame, suspension, brakes and especially seat ergonomics. The engine is honestly just a plus. I did test a Katana as they didn't have this available for a test ride but I didn't like the seat. I think I'm one of the few who likes the front because it has a sort of 80's-90's mecha feel to it. I prefer it much more to the alien bug robot look of Yamaha MT's.

4:50 Yeah I wasn't on the market for a 1000 either, thinking that's it's too fast to be usable on the street and it didn't make any sense. Then I tried a GSX-S 750 and the 1000 back to back. My conclusion was that both were more than fast enough to get me into trouble but everything on the 1000 felt nicer. Handling is much better and suspensions are adjustable, it's easier to maneuver and I felt more comfortable on the 1000 in terms of ergonomics. So yeah, 1000cc and 150bhp is stupid for the road but I don't need to rev the crap out of it to feel the engine come alive. At 4000 rpm it makes a bunch of torque and the growl coming the intake is very pleasing to my ears. An excellent motorcycle which completely changed my mind on 1000cc motorcycles, hence why I now own a 2015 model.

I had an XSR-900, had an offer to trade for one of these in exchange, I made a little $$. I’m blown away at how underrated it is, parts are cheap, surprisingly economical, comfortable. I had a GS which cost so much more with all the tele-lever suspension & somehow this is a really bang for your buck. This newer version will have a bigger tank & all the added gizmos is a no brainer. PS , I have a 58l top box on it, a real daily utilitarian bike.

I like your take on this bike..I'm no expert at all, but I downgraded from a 1999 CB 1300, I bought a new CB650R which is great...but I miss the 'unusable power' that a litre bike offers, ha ha. Really Fancy the S1000....being a short guy, it's almost the same seat height at 810mm as the CB650R...price is amazing for what you get. The quickshifter/blipper included is a deal breaker for me...they just transform any bike. I ride in the Philippines, I'm still waiting to even see this bike in the flesh..such is the downside of living so far from home...where you live in the UK. Love your videos, thanks a lot. What about ABS, the face it has no IMU, so no cornering assistance. Also, the dash displays a very important feature which is the 3 level rider modes which offer a very different response to the throttle and C would be for wet roads, B is for normal road use, and A is very sporty feel with even more top end pull. The induction roar is also a good feature wichbis a result of a modified airbox from the gen 1 model. Really good review though from a basic rider perspective. 19:39

Totally different. The 09 wants to go all the time, the Suzuki can be more civilised. The Suzuki would be easier to live with I think.

Thanks for spending the time to make the vid, I would love a new Suzuki and this model would suit, 2 concerns - the ugly frontlight setup and the lack of screen, if I owned this I'd sure want to do a few long trips, possibly a bar mounted touring screen could be an option with care not to destroy the look. Cheers bud.

70 mph = 4,800 rpm. That's not so relaxed. My GSX1300 B-King pulled 3,500 rpm at 70 mph. Nonetheless, the GSX-S is the litre bike I'd buy. Stunning bike. Much beefier low down the rev range than the CB1000R, I'd imagine. Suzuki is my favourite make.

Suzuki did the lazy thing again...they didn't bother changing gear ratios from the 2005 GSX-R bike. Super tall 1st gear doesn't make it easy to launch. Gears 2nd through 6th are all stacked right on top of that, 6th gear makes the engine spin too quickly at highway speeds, more than it needs to. Revise the ratios, Suzuki!!
