If Gustavo Ribeiro was in this I’m sure you’d see him do the same thing. Cab bs noseblunt on a gap to Hubba is something only Nyjah can pull off. Not sure what Dashawn pulls on the super final, so far I’m only comparing the bigger flip fs board to the cab noseblunt. So far I def feel like they’ve burned Mickey papa tho. Yeah I just watched the 8.7 for Papa's nollie heel front board down the fat blue rail. If Nyjah did that it's 100% for sure 9.3 or higher. I've always been suspect of the scoring in SLS. Some guys just seem to get better scores stop after stop. I don't know what the guy has to do to get scored properly. If that trick, done absolutely perfectly isn't a 9 then what are we even doing here? Last rant about the judging: they need to start rewarding variety. Almost all the guys in the contest do either the same type of trick all run (Midler fakie 270 to X), or the same tricks at every single spot to the point where you already know the trick they're going to do before they even get to the obstacle. Tons of guys are guilty of this. Creativity is not at all rewarded. I want to see an Evan Smith type find a new way to use a course, ya know? Fuck, just got to the end and Papa missed out on the finals by 0.2. That means a proper score on that nollie heel front board cost him a chance to win.

Long time fan, been following for ages! Just a few suggestions, since I've been feeling a waning sense of interest while watching today's broadcast, and I know others have expressed similar sentiments: - The single run thing really isn't working... It feels like we keep reducing the amount of actual skating year after year. These dudes get into the final for what, 2-minutes of judged skating total? Why even build an entire park if all it's going to come down to is the big rail section? - Speaking of the courses, they're getting way too repetitive. Even within Street League itself, the tours of the past had unique "feature" obstacles that felt completely different from the stop prior. These current courses feel AI-generated, like you just fed an algorithm the courses for the past few years and it churns out a fresh one in a couple minutes. Give the pros a chance to get creative! These obstacles are all so identical, and make the stops feel as if they're all blurring together. People can go watch traditional ball games if they're looking for that. - More of a personal peeve on this one, but the announcers are often not really "present" for the run in front of them... They always tend to go on about what happened in some past year instead of actually calling the tricks happening at that moment.

All of this is spot on. I especially agree with the ‘big rail’ comment. Technicality is way undervalued; flips are often what trip people up, so throwing in flip-in flip-out combos should net you some points. The way things are judges right now makes it feel like there’s only one valid style of skateboarding. Gets really dull

I've loved skating for years, back when I was younger and could do it and even now when my body is to beat up to attempt an Ollie without major back pain lol. I love watching the competitions to see what people are coming up with, the lines they are able to put together, the way they use different obstacles on the course during runs and best trick. The main thing I loved before was always being on the edge of my seat wondering who would take it this time. However, nowadays, you not only know who will be in the finals, but the top 3, and the majority of the time in 1st place. If the competition has Nyjah (who is an amazing skater, don't get me wrong, I've seen him since he was a kid with those dreads still lol) and Yuto in it, then it will come down to a battle between them 2 with Yuto normally coming out on top (as it was at the Olympics like I told my wife when I saw the format and who was competing). If the competition has only Nyjah, then he is 9 times out of 10 going to get 1st, regardless of how the others skate. The biases of the judges, commentators, etc has become so apparent that it almost takes the fun out of watching it now. Yes, I still get hyped watching an amazing trick like DeShawn's Big flip board or Inward heel fs board which is something you almost never see someone attempt, but I try to just put the score out of my mind because I know it will just so happen to fall just short of beating Nyjah regardless of what he does. Don't get me wrong, Nyjah can and has on many occasions put down some insane tricks of his own in the past, it's just these days it seems like he knows he can just throw out something he does on a semi-regular to regular basis that everyone knows he can do with no problem and get a 9+ almost every time so that's what he does. I don't know, it just seems to me that everyone else is just put there now to make Nyjah (and Yuto when he is present) look good to keep the hype going. That's my opinion on the way I've seen SLS going lately. Take it how you want, if I'm wrong then so be it, but that's my perspective as an outsider looking in. Thanks for taking the time to read my long ass comment lol. No matter what though, Skateboarding will always have a place in my heart, even if I'm unable to anymore (I actually still have my last Blind board I bought years ago lol).

Everything you said I agree with. I’ve watched pretty much every single SLS stop they have posted on KZread and I’ve seen Njah do all the tricks he did this competition so many times. Yet when other skaters do a trick multiple times in the same year they get docked points. For example Dashawn used to get high 8’s for his tee flip 50-50’s but this competition he got a 8.3. So it’s pretty obvious that there’s bias. Especially after the last trick Dashawn landed which was a NBD at SLS and gets the same score and a trick Njah has done many times before.

That was a sick ending to the contest. Though they should bring back 2 runs instead of one. It's starting to just become one big best trick contest. When they do it like this where it's almost all 1 best trick contest, which only gives big scores on the big obstacles, that doesn't allow the contest to let a broad scene of talent have a shot at winning. The only people that have a shot are the guys who can throw one big trick down a long rail. Giving two runs allows people that are better at tech and consistency to win. Skateboarding is well rounded. So the contest should reflect that. DeShawn Jordan probably would've won if he wouldn't have messed up his run section. They should've had a second run.
