Among those expected to compete will be Nyjah Huston, who holds an impressive perfect record at the World Skate events he has attended, reigning Olympic champions Nishiya Momiji and Horigome Yuto, and Australian teen star Chloe Covell.

    As a male in my mid 40's who used to skate in the 90's, I have to say watching these young women do things I could never dream of on a skateboard is the most incredible and humbling thing to experience. Hats off to these young skaters leading the next gen of skateboarding!

    i think he's getting penalized for his weird style, and the fact that he has to get on rails really late since he can't pop that high. I think in SLS ginwoo would get higher scores. In this contest the judges seem to use style a lot for points. In SLS it barely matters if it's sketchy or looks weird, it's basically just the trick. i'm sure in 2-3 years ginwoo will be very hard to beat

    i@@fredericsalvan7481 japan rose fast due to the community culture. You can watch videos in the park and the best skaters are helping tiny kids learn. Do you know how it was when I'd go to the skatepark in UK? The best skaters would just shred the park quietly solo. As newbies or novice skaters that can only do a few flip tricks and couple grinds we'd stand there in awe embarrassed to take up space and just watch. In japan they have mentor culture, even quasi "skateboarding schools". The better skaters will very openly coach the newbies and encourage them. That's why Japan will dominate even more and more 6 year olds getting into skateboarding don't need to have parents forcing the board on them, they just need to have someone take them to the park and everyone else will gladly teach them.

    The judges are damaging women’s skateboarding. They dock far too many points for super tech tricks on lower obstacles. In what world is Yumekas crook nollie flip in semis only a 72??!? Meanwhile they’re giving mid 80s for simple grinds any of the girls could do just because it’s on the big obstacle. YUMEKA would think why waste multiple tries doing crook nollie flip and get 72 when I can fs smith easily and get 82 It’s clear the judging panel may not have been skaters here or been given over the top instructions to always score smaller obstacles pitifully even if it’s the best tech. They’re pushing women’s skateboarding back, we just saw women start to do flips out like that in contests, now soon they won’t bother if just a plain kickflip or heel flip down a set gets almost 90. Abysmal judging, past in Rome etc they rightfully awarded flip out of crooks 88+-90. I really hope the judges improve otherwise olympics will just be simple grinds on the big tail and one or two flips or heels down stairs.

    I think long terms, scoring big obstacle tricks higher is beneficial for women’s skateboarding. Why push ur self to do an Nollie kroon down the big hubba if it gets scored well on the smaller one? And I disagree that there are only simple tricks going down the big sections; there were multiple flip tricks done into or out of grinds.

  • @talk-supersix-seven6021

    @talk-supersix-seven6021

    5 ай бұрын

    @@Clamclam3400 * crook nollie flip out. There were big tricks like Yumekas kickflip feeble but and some technical grinds and flips into grinds e.t.c what I'm saying is unlike previous WST events like Rome e.t.c they have docked too many points for the most technical tricks just because they're on a small ledge. In a previous WST event, I saw momiji got like 87+ for a crook nollie heel on the same size ledge. This event Yumeka gets only 72 for crook nollie flip out. This is a very difficult trick that didn't exist in womens skateboarding events just a year and some months ago. They have to reward the highest tech appropriately otherwise single trick section will be all the girls just doing fs smith, fs crook on the big rail and a kickflip down the stairs. It's fine to reward the big obstacle but stop being so punitive for the smaller ones if it's the most technical trick being feasibly done in womens skateboarding!

    People saying Ginwoo got robbed clearly are not experienced skateboarders. He’s an amazing skateboarder and definitely does difficult tricks but they don’t compare to heel flip bs nose blunt or switch 3 flip lip
