2021 KIA K5 TURBO AWD | Less Power Is Better
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
We review the new 2021 Kia K5 GT Line Turbo AWD. (Kia Optima) After driving the 2.5T FWD and seeing the Sonata N Line, we were hoping the GT Line would be better. We take a quick look at the good and bad and discuss how it compared to the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Hyundai Sonata.

A month ago I purchased a 2021 K5 GT line with all-wheel drive. I'm 6-2 and I have more than enough legroom and headroom. It's a blast to drive on very curvy roads and has torque all the way through up to about a 110 miles per hour. I am in love with my car. I can give this a 10 out of 10.
You guys know exactly what I care about in a car review, well done.
Love it! 90% of people who hate on Kia never owned one of the newer generations of their cars and only drove one from the early 2000s.
Guys, savagegeese has always been the full package for car reviews. Infotaiment to undercarriage walkthroughs. It's just awesome for someone to watch and informative for a buyer to make a buying decision. One request, like you do the driving impressions, can you also do a test of safety suit ? Like collision mitigation system. It need not be necessarily very scientific, just a basic test with cardboard cutouts resembling a car or a pedestrian.
Watching this makes me glad I live in the south. Great vid as always.
So happy you did this review, thank you!

I recommended that my brother and his wife look at this car. They loved the look and test drive. Hated the dealership experience. The dealer had an addendum label next to the window sticker: $2995.00: dealer protection package, brake pulse system and ceramic paint protection. They ended up walking out. Most likely buying a different make. When they purchased their Toyota Highlander, they actually had a great experience.
Rented the K5 LS for 2 weeks. Car is beautiful, and fun to drive. Excellent gas mileage.
I'm 19 in spain. The only car I've spend time in is a Kia Ceed, and it does give a lot of confidence, even in the wet despite being FWD. It isn't no lexus or mercedes, but my friends drive 10+ year old economy cars so in comparison it isn't bad.

They didn't have major complaints except about the car's driveability, that it simply didn't have enough grip to avoid massive torque steer and was unable to handle curves with any power. This version completely solved that problem and they praise its driving dynamics greatly. That's a huge change.
Consistently great videos. Thanks!
Excellent review. Jack adds another dimension. Most channels talk about this being one of the better cars in it's segment. Different prospective than most reviewers
Any real driver knows about torque steer & wouldn’t floor a high powered FWD car while turning to begin with ! 99% of cars in this segment are going to a gym parking lot, Dunkin Donuts, to the office and back home !...while driving at a max mph of 50 ! ZERO CORNER CARVING & ZERO 0-60 TIME TRIALS ! Aside from that, great review as always guys 👍🏽
11:19 I'd have to respectfully disagree with that. Customer service in this time isn't necessarily better with one brand or another. It has to do with the dealership ownership/management and front line employees along with the regional office if an issue is escalated to them. Our Acura purchasing/servicing experience was a total nightmare at one dealership that we ended up switching to another and it's been smooth sailing. Heck, some Toyota dealerships sell so much in volume they really don't care if you're happy or not because another customer will come along in no time.
I'm more than happy with my '22 Gt-Line awd. It kicks the crap out of my '19 Fusion I traded in, way nicer interior, better looks, fuel economy, I'd even argue more peppy in the lower revs, general drivability, oh and the headlights... best I've ever had including having had HID's in the past, it's also more comfortable to sit in.
Great and informative videos guys. I must say that the technical aspects of your content is very informative and appreciated. I think a 1600 CC turbo engine for a car like this size is OK for a balance of daily drive fun and economy. Personally, I would have loved this same 4WD car but with the 2.5 Liter turbo engine, which would make it an enthusiast car; that with a 6-speed manual option would be just what the Doctor ordered.
I've tested drive Camry and K5 ( the same model tested here) I'll tell you that K5 is far...far better Car Mark is just very precise about everything...Toyota and Honda needs to watch out...kia is doing a great job...and when you look at the price than there's no discussion...and on top of that the warranty that kia is offering is just outstanding...
You guys nailed it on a few points. The Kia / Hyundai buying experience blows. It's the worst I've ever experienced. But the cars aren't bad and seem to be getting better by the year. And Jack often does refer to his 'bigness'. Mid-western winters? A hellscape, for sure! I could see the car rusting away on the lift.
I was going to say that, as a Sonata owner, I'm excited for this video. I'm going to correct myself, I am interested in this. I will say that as someone from Canada, I've had an excellent Hyundai experience at the dealership.
Jack is getting really comfortable with the videos, well done buddy

Even the brake pads are original, and were checked last month, told they still didn't need replacement. All the tech still works perfectly. This IS RELIABILITY !! .
I own this 2021 k5 1.6L with AWD. Though, it doesn't snow in southern Florida, there are torrential rains. This variant of the K5 suits me fine with plenty of peppiness for city driving. I thought one of the reviewers greatly diminished the aesthetics of the interior focusing on some of the hard touch plastic areas. I would have liked a full 10" digital gauge cluster found in the Stinger and the inclusion of a Bose sound system. The feedback to steering could be better. Frequent comparisons were made to Honda & Toyota. My second car is a 2021 Honda Accord Sport 2.0T, which I love!
I know styling is subjective but when kia came out with the next generation on Optima in 2011, that styling is what got me into the brand in the first place. I loved it.

I was a fan of the old Optima, it's FWD, torque steering, presence was like a lower hp take on my trusty Impala. And that big ol' girl is fantastic in winter. The weight at the front gives it traction to deal with snow, and it holds firm pulling around bends and corners on the mountain roads in the Rockies. She will spin the tires a lot from a stop, but going easy on the throttle gets it going, and then it's all good. The Optima/K5/new Sonata are good vehicles, I just wonder how they fair going up and down those mountain roads that the Chevy eats like candy.

Who is hating on this video with thumbs down...If you don't like the car I get it, but do complain to KIA. Mr Goose and Singapore's job on the reviews and quality is superb.
