Those wheels look good, so much better than the ones I’ve seen on the other trim levels. This is one of the few cars that a front plate (required where I live) will make the car look better by breaking up that huge grill.

I have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. I went with the Tucson because I wanted AWD. It has been one of the biggest mistakes. The first was getting a Hyundai. They don’t care about their consumers. My car has been blowing headlights- having electrical issues (my auto windows go back down when you roll them up, my rear windshield wipers go off whenever they want, my break light seems to go on and off at random. I have reached out because as a company they should only want the best products out there. I was told that “because my car is over 3 years old. There is nothing they can do for me. To bring it to a dealer and “see what I can get” for it. I owe more than it’s worth because one thing they don’t tell you when you buy a Hyundai is they depreciate way faster than you can make payments to survive. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI.

I drove this model (SE) for about 1700 miles across very different places in California, a rental. It surely compares well against western cars, but they do not set the standards, even the luxury ones. My own car is a Kia optima 2019, it has very similar mileage, same comfort but much better technology. This sonata model safety features are a like a nagging girlfriend or mom rushing to start moving when the car ahead start moving when the stop lights turn green, which is not really the safest and best choice. It won't stop "suggesting" to stop to relax for a coffee break after driving like a hundred miles, which would not relax me at all as the night falls or the day just passes by, things to do, while I would just be sitting drinking coffee in some place I never cared to stop. Have no idea why that'd be relaxing. Lazy people may well like that, which there are plenty of. That's all the safety features I noticed in the car. My Kia doesn't nagg. Instead, it has very useful side lights in the mirrors warning about incoming vehicles in the blind spots. Sonata was unable to connect to my iPod, I had to connect my iPod a radio interfering device, which obviously did not work in most places. A lot of fun screwed. My Kia, and former Honda cars, do connect well to devices. It would've been a nightmare to buy this brand new car of moderate price just to get a naggy junk that does not do what I want or would like to get, instead just naggs on and on.

The 2011 Hyundai Sonata has a problem where the engine seizes without warning. The average repair cost is about $5,000 and the average mileage at the time of seizing is around 90,000 miles. A class action lawsuit in 2015 found the 2.4-liter engine to be defective.

I have a 2013 hybrid limited with the 2.4 liter engine, just got the recall notice, runs great and at least they stand by the products when are found to be defective! I’m glad there is a recall so I don’t have to worry about it, batteries are in great shape too with 71,000 miles on it, get great mileage on it too!

@Randy Jackson the n line sonata is coming with a 2.5T and will likely out perform the Camry which is slower than the accord that has less hp

It’s a pity hyundai keeps adding more and more piano black plastic trim on the interior. I hope they don’t follow this route and become Toyota. The new push button gear system is great in my palisade but the integration into the center console on this sonata looks a bit of an after thought. Overall still a great reliable car.

Randy Jackson Toyota are indeed great reliable cars, I was just talking about the interior being cheap with glossy black plastic. In my experience Hyundai have been excellent in reliability so far in the last 5 years. They’ve come far.

As far as I know, the Smaht Pahk is only available on the Limited trim. That's the petrol only version. The hybrid does not get that but Hyundai did mention something about demand. If there's enough of it, they'll consider adding it to the Limited Hybrid.

Aside from the front grill, a lot of the body sculpture is very similar to the Honda Accord. I test drove this car and it's not very engaging to drive and the interior comes off as a little cheap. I still say the cream of the crop in the midsize family is the Accord Sport 2.0 turbo and the turbo Mazda 6. Mazda's interiors overall is unmatched by any other Asian car company. The same for the road feel and engagement. However, the 2.0 Accord is right on it's heals in those areas and has a much more powerful turbo engine. And before anyone says it, yes, Mazda doesn't sell as many cars as the others, but that has nothing to do with it being a great car to drive. However, we all have our opinions and like what we like.
