There's actually a legitimate use for this, I work in healthcare and evey time I get up to go check on a patient, I come back to my computer to finish charting and it's already logged me out. Lots of companies have the same "overkill" policy where the computer logs you out after 60 seconds of inactivity. It's very nerve-racking.

Been working from home since start of the pandemic and been running jiggler software and my company finally started scanning our computers and got caught and had to remove it. Was about to buy a usb plug in until I saw this video. Can’t believe I never thought about simple keyboard jamming before. Brilliant. Thank you!

Most company laptops or computers have all kinds of detections put into place, including keyloggers. This means keyboard jamming the space bar as an example, still won't work. You'll be flagged as suspiciously typing the same one key over and over thousands of time an hour.

In my old job I had an older Dell laptop and when I placed my mouse directly on the laptop mousepad the cursor would jiggle nonstop. It’s worth a try, but it doesn’t work for all laptops unfortunately. I just started a new job and the trick doesn’t work with the laptop the new company gave me. I have literally nothing to work on since it’s the holidays so I’m going to try out the keyboard jam.

There are any number of programs you can run on Windows to keep your computer awake, like Don't Sleep and Caffeine. Most of these programs don't install in a Windows registry, they just sit on the desktop. However I recommend downloading them on your own computer and transferring them to your work computer by memory stick, as you don't want the download visible on your work computer. Also make sure it sits in a folder named something else on desktop, not out in the open for your IT to see if they remote in. But if that's a bridge too far for you, another easy method is if you have a video on your work computer that you can play on whatever your video player program is. Run the video on continuous play so it plays over and over. This keeps your computer awake too. I don't think this will work with a streaming video; it has to be a video resident on your hard disk and playing in software, not browser.

Do you have any suggestions for a mouse mover/jiggler with a timer? For most people, a mouse mover is only useful if it keeps your computer from locking for anywhere from 10-30 minutes. After that time, it would need to show locked ("away"). You would charge the remaining time away as "official leave". This is quite useful to give you extra time to get to an appointment, add more time to your lunch-break, etc. Most people are allowed to have an "away" status on Teams, or Skype, for relatively short periods of time, or for longer periods of time that are "approved" like an hour-long appointment. Having a timer on a mouse mover would give you a little more time to actually be away from the desk - without actually showing it

There are outlet timers normally used for Christmas lights. You used the same method as he did with the oscillating fan, except plug the fan into the timer outlet and you can set it to turn on/off anytime you'd like. There are even outlet timers you can hook up and control from your phone. Cost like $10-$20
