I wish these were around when I worked an overnight customer service position. What I ended doing instead was getting an oscillating fan and a wired mouse and clipping the mouse wire to the fan. It would gently pull the mouse from left to right and keep my screen from idling out if I fell asleep waiting for an incoming customer inquiry.

I've heard you can just cutout a circle of construction paper or thick paper the same size of the moving pad and it will then work for large mice.

I used vlc media player to loop a video playing minimized (no sound). Doesn't matter what video, but it should probably be plausibly work-related. At least at my workplace, the screen wouldn't time out if you were "watching" a video, even if it was playing minimized and without sound. Couldn't pause it, or the screen would time out again if paused long enough, but didn't need to--I just left it running in the background all day. If I needed to watch another video, I had vlc set to allow multiple video screens to play back, so it worked just fine to set and forget the minimized one. The main pain is having to start up and set up the looping video playback each time I logged in, but it was entirely non-intrusive and free to run it all day after that. Probably works fine with other media players, like the stock Windows Media Player (which would have the advantage of being available on most corporate desktops), but you might not be able to play other videos while your "screen-timeout-foiling" video is running. Just play your other video and remember to put back the screen-timeout-foiling video after you watch (and probably after it times out on you once to remind you).

@@CAKeele07 Bro, I wish setting your work computer screen to stay on was the answer but unfortunately, it isn't. A lot of *Company* *Computer's* figured out a way to disable that feature because a lot of stay at home worker's was taking advantage of that feature where they could just set it up to stay on. The difference is, I can make my *Personal* *Computer* and *Laptop* stay on forever but I can't on my Work Computer, that option doesn't work. I'm not going to complain about paying less than $30 for a device that will allow my computer to work for me while I focus on my other business. In your eyes it is a stupid cash grab but in my eyes it was a smart investment. I can actually get other things done while my work computer stays on. I guess those who don't have to work with a business computer wouldn't understand it. If I didn't experience it firsthand, I'm sure I would be saying the same thing you're saying about, "wtf is the point of this?" But since I deal with it, I know wtf the point is. Long story short: With a "majority" of these work computer's, there is *NO* option to keep the screens on anymore. Trust me, I'm super tech savvy. I tried so many variations and there was nothing that would allow it to stay on forever. I even tried all the options in my System Settings but no luck. I hope this gives you a better understanding.

cuz if you're on a work computer, you're not gonna code in it. also, work computers often leave the settings locked so you can't change the idle time, but most importantly, if you're on teams or Skype for business, you will appear "away" and people will know you're not at your desk. the point is to keep it all from going idle and away

Keeping your computer from timing out. Either in a work from home type setting where you are being monitored or if you have some reason why you wouldn't want your computer to time out (for me, it defaults to another source when it does which is annoying). Plugging this into an outlet instead of a computer will make it untraceable to your IT dept.
