Riding bikes like that is an event more than a adrenaline rush. As speed restrictions get more widespread and the biking age group gets older I can see more people opting for "event" bikes.

100% agree Colin.. this is why I keep telling the wife one bike isn't enough.

Quite agree that it is a good looking machine with everything tucked away which was surprising to see the exposed shaft drive. What an astonishing scoop!

from mi boxer engine is the best i used to ride one of them but much older from the second war, it was amazing, and that torque reaction that’s what i used to love, but one thing what would i change is seat for a heart shape one like in old version

Info on new models seems to take forever to reach dealers these days.. No brochures either, they expect everyone to find all the information online.. I'm not a fan of that. I'd expect cruise will come on later models, but yes odd this doesn't have it.

Oh wow, looks amazing and that sound/rumble on tick over......... Note to self: Keep away from local dealer 😂 Reckon I'd have a GoPro constantly recording the exposed drive shaft. What's the braking efficiency like 😉

Braking is excellent for a cruiser compared to the 6 Harleys I have owned over the last 10 years. Twin Brembos front and single rear.

Do you have the Hero 7 Black? Mine crashes all the time as well which is pretty shocking considering the price and that a lot of people use it for insurance.

Yeah hero 7 black.. I have just done a factory restore and full "forced" update, I hope this will fix it.

the first edition in europe has cruise control. not in the us and gb.

One of reasons I love my RnineT Racer is that whilst it has plenty of plastic parts it doesn’t look like it has, unlike most other BMW’s. There doesn’t look like much plastic on the R18, I really like the traditional black paint and white pin stripes, the chrome, the look of the engine. I do hope it’s a sales success. Does just a tiny bit of you regret buying the RR ? 🇬🇧🏍

Stewy, I like the racer too, such a good looking machine, I had so much fun on the one I rode.. my RR? nope no regrets.. it will be the last sports bike I buy but I'm pleased I have it.

RnineT was supposedly a one year 'thing', that turned out not to be the case. Not sure on the BMW warranty you rave about either, many owners on forums do not seem at all happy when things go wrong with their bikes and BMW try to wriggle out.

The one year thing is the colour option not the bike, I'm sure the R18 is here to stay for a long time.. I can only go on my experience J Bo when it comes to warranty and service.. I've had nothing but the best from my local dealer.

Is it the new Gopro 9 that's causing you issues?

No my 7 black I updated it recently and had issues since.. think I'll do a fresh install. New 9 looks good, some really nice features.

I'd just get a motoguzzi. But it is a beautiful bike.

It’s between 25,000 to over 27,000 euros here in Ireland , we are being ripped off over here on new bike and car prices compared to uk. , I cannot see this first edition selling that well at that price point ,

Ouch that sounds pricey.. is it worth getting a ferry and taking one back with you or do you get stung with massive import duties?

As an ex BMW R1100S owner I love it. But as a current Moto Guzzi California Audace 1400 owner I know my Guzzi is a better motorcycle more power more revs less weight(Audace is 300kg wet weight) I tried a HD Fat Bob 114 and my Guzzi accelerate better turns better and brakes better then the HD. I recon this is more of a Softail Slim od Deluxe competitor then the Low Rider S or a Fat Bob. I'm happy that BMW build it and I hope it will sell well!! Definitely better then the old R1200C!! It's a Lovly looking bike!! And if you Guys gonna do a group test make sure you take the Moto Guzzi California Audace 1400(it rides and have a ground clearance similar to a XjR1300) / Eldorado!just make sure that You put it in veloce mode(Italian for sport) wich is sport mode equivalent of BMW Roll mode! Rock mode = turismo on a Guzzi and rain = pioggia!

Ooof!! I think this is much prettier than the Speedmaster.. but it would be a dull world if we all thought the same.

No cruise control?? Deal breaker!!!! HUGE MISTAKE BMW ! Older men have arm pump issues from working there whole life!!! Hands fall asleep!!!

I’ve just bought the First Edition in NZ and it has radar cruise control, reverse, heated grips and passenger seat and pegs as standard. Love it!
