@@mohnnadmercedes8246 I wouldn't bet on it. There are literally no clean M3s or M4s built in the last 20 years that are selling for 10% of their MSRP. A clean 2001 M3 with 150k miles on it is still a $10-15k car and the MSRP on that was about $50k. Even early F8x cars are still over $30k.

If BMW had to screw up anything with the M3, I'm glad it's the grille. What an excellent driving car, and that engine is a huge step up from the previous model. Great take!

How is the engine a huge step up? It revs to lower RPM, makes lower torque down low, and has more turbo lag. Its better on a very marginal way but also has some compromises vs S55 motor.

Due to the weight increase (~400lbs), the performance gains over the previous gen isn't as great as you'd expect. Go check out CarWow's video comparing the two and you'll be surprised at how well an "old" M4 keeps up with the new one. Either way, I love every iteration of M3 and it remains a dream car for me.

We've reached pricing on cars where even for this level of performance, the math doesn't make sense. Great review as always!!

I have never liked the way the Ford Mustang looks but I don’t go to Ford Mustang videos and threads and break everyone’s balls over it. If you don’t like the grille then don’t buy the freaking car. Don’t go around to videos and complain constantly. It really is that simple.

M3s don’t really depreciate so you’ll be waiting awhile. I don’t get the hate for the grill, I think it looks great on the M cars. Very aggressive and fits the M’s well.

17:10 The only other high performance sedans with a MT that I can think of that's coming out soon are the CT4/5 V blackwing, which also look to be very promising. I think I'd still take the M3 though. I'm over the looks of the front grille myself!

This is all the car a Sports Car person could ever need! Practical, Nice, Luxurious, Fast, Drifts, Manual, AMAZING Looks (Just don't look at the grilles and front bumper, even the headlights are a work of art!) I would get a manual without thinking it. Who cares about HP?

Excellent POV, as always! The G80 grille has sparked so much controversy. I know I seem to be in the minority, but I think the G80 is the best looking BMW ever. I think that when it was first shown to the public, they all decided to hate the new styling and not even give it a chance. I can remember the same thing happening in the early 2000's, starting with the 2002 7 Series. (I loved those in the beginning, too) I think people will warm up to the styling eventually and realize how amazing this car is. If I had 100k to spend on a car, I'd be saying "BMW, PLEASE take my money!!" lol

I might be one of the few people that likes the grille. Also the performance is impressive and bonus points to BMW for still having a manual.

Me to. Thats why I got a 2018 M3 with a 6 speed manual. It drives and well and most importantly, it looks great from the outside design wise 👍🏽.

The looks of the 4 door is growing on me. It’s nuts seeing the power and grip of this thing on public roads. An M3 is on my short list for replacing my MK7.5 R but can a car have too much performance? I don’t know that I would find a use for 7/10 of the performance on any roads in Colorado.

What a car! What a spec!! This thing is bonkers.

I've always been a BMW guy, but the newer hood shapes just don't look good to me. It's a square cut out shape, instead of the previous cuts that went alongside the natural lines of the car.

That grill just kills everything.

How do you think it would actually be though as a daily driver? The performance is amazing but I wonder if all the noise and stiffness after a while would start to get to you and most people would want something more comfortable?

Great review as always. A question! Do you have any concerns with the direct injection system and the carbon build up that comes with it? Yes, a manual would be my choice as well, but would you choose an M3 manual or IS500 auto, knowing that 2UR has both direct and port injection and is proven to be reliable or would you go with S58 and stick and take whatever the S58 gives you down the road? Maybe I am just overthinking this reliability issue!

@@bcvijasiu Germans are usually on the cutting edge and reliability is not their foremost concern. In my opinion, if these vehicles are well maintained, they'll be mostly reliable. From a performance standpoint, there is absolutely no comparison between the S58 and and the IS500 engine. The former is an absolute monster whereas the latter is nicely balanced V8 with the benefits of natural aspiration, but is performance-wise is several tiers below the BMW engine. If you think you can be satisfied being in that tier, then maybe the Lexus is the right choice for you.

I suspect the rational for the ZF 8 speed transmission was the addition for "taming" that all wheel drivetrain in the competition model? idk for sure, I just suspect this.

And we in Germany are allowed to drive as fast as we want on the highway :)

Yeah, it’s fast, but it can put its power down, unlike the F80! It sounds better, puts power down better, and it’s still available with a manual! It’s a fantastic car, and I couldn’t care less about that grille!!

@@RNMAutomotiveAddiction In my mind, the lower weight of the F80 doesn’t matter when they sounded so bad, and their explosive power delivery made them hard to drive smoothly.

WHY I cant stop looking at the Right vent / fan close to the Right door????? Is that a real fan or an adhesive or an extra terrestrial eye, or camera distortion , or some of the front grill growing inward ????

Last time you said a transmission was great and that we wouldn't miss much I went and test-drove a Volvo S60 R-Design...and was left missing quite a lot. :/

Say what you want but that grille is an insult on that car. This, the x7, and the new 7 series are just heinous. And the fact you have long time bmw loyalists displaying their disapproval about the grille and the curb weight should tell it all.... The f80 m3 will go down as one of the best designed m cars in history
