awesome video! though, just make sure to use slightly less k5 pro on the GPU vrams, as even the thermal putty can cause mounting issues if used too much, espsecially since the zephryus g15 heatsink has a very good and tight mounting pressure due to how its made, so even if you put less k5 pro it should spread out evenly on the chip. i made this mistake myself as I was wondering why my temps didnt lower by much! if you dont have any issues, I wouldnt worry about it but just to help some people when repasting this machine.

@@kaishajacobye great advise! That was my first time using K5 pro and I was unsure the amount to use! Temps seem great so far so it looks like I got lucky this time!

Nice video you have here! I have one question, I see you are using the same Thermal Paste on CPU but for stock, the CPU has Liquid Metal. As far as I know, Liquid Metal provides higher conductivity. So is it a downgrade on CPU side? (I'm asking this because I turn on Turbo Boost for CPU all the time for Single Core performance, so my CPU always hit 95-97 C)

I recently just re pasted my ga503 as well but I actually put metal back on to both the CPU and GPU. It is technically a down grade from liquid metal but after the hell I went thru cleaning and preparing the logic board such that I felt comfortable putting metal back on i don't blame anyone for not wanting to do it. I feel like it's with it though I get insanely lower temps now though that's mostly because the initial installation was ABYSMAL! Almost half my CPU had no metal on it yet there was so much extra some how inside the silicone barrier and even caught in the foam barrier. I honestly have no idea how laptop didn't explode it makes no sense. But yeah GPU runs in the 50-70s depending on the game where before it was regularly hitting the 90s. CPU of course wasn't being cooled fully so it was pretty much stuck at thermal throttle even doing simple tasks. I love my laptop but man after witnessing just how horribly Asus screwed up the liquid metal application and morning that if something had fine wrong I'd be dealing with their now well known blackmail customer service I don't think I can do anything Asus ever again. Not for a long time any way.

You are correct that liquid metal is a better conductor of heat than thermal paste. Using thermal paste will result in higher temperatures. However, I have never personally used liquid metal before. I don't know how to apply it, and LM is much more susceptible to issues with uneven mounting pressure and the flatness of the Heatsink and IHS (as well as issues with it leaking out if you use too much). Because of this, I went with thermal paste. In comparison to the temperatures I was having before the repaste, the Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme has significantly reduced temperatures on the CPU and GPU. It goes to show how horrible my factory LM application was by ASUS.

@@tornado5783for next time, or if you have another laptop with LM, you can just re-spread evenly the existing liquid metal on both the die and the heatsink and just add a small drop just in case. On the mounting pressure, you can do the same you did in your video. The hardest part for me was with the screen cable, hahaha. Good on you for still having a 2021 model in 2024.
