First off thanks great review. I have owned a chr since early 2019. Love it. It does everything right including acceleration. Second. I have never heard Ross speak until now. Lol Lastly 31 k is way too much money . The base model is adequately equipped. I have the xle 2019. No where near 31k..you might as well buy a Rav4. Otherwise spot on in review.

I bought one about 6 months ago. So far no real complaints. I bought for Toyota dependability. I believe ur mistaken I checked the Toyota web site and it sat chr stood for coup high rider. I think they put that auto ebrake to deter drift. I use the sport mode lots and manual shift.

Hello. I am wondering why the highway MPG is only 31? Do you know what the RPM would be at 70mph?

For best results I usually put it on cruise mode and drive on 1-2.5K rpm

These have been tested to get way better than 31mpg. It's closer to 36-37 highway mpg. A pretty decent daily driver for the money.

I am looking into one of these, coming off of a Toyota Scion XB 2008, which I have loved. I am wondering if it "sits high" off the road. In other words, I feel safer not being on the same level as a car. My scion was small-ish but still had the driver height where I could see "over" things. Does that make sense?

The most important thing they needed to change is the horsepower; I test drove that thing and found it to be almost dangerously underpowered even compared to my ancient Corolla! Merging on a highway in Toronto with it was not exactly a worry-free experience. If they offer the hybrid system from its sister vehicle, the Lexus UX, in it, which gives it both more power and an AWD system, it would be my pick of the entire Toyota lineup.

They are not going to change horse power. Toyota are not big on Turbos in mainstream sellers if at all. Most subcompact suvs in this category have the same horse power or less. Ever drive that loud hrv? Bro.. It's adequate for what it's intended for. Can't drag race in the city. It is not dangerous. Worse case put the thing in sport mode you are good. Tip tronic if you can use it right is a blast and very quick I might add. There is a hybrid awd available to Europe and sells well. But because in NA we like big suvs a hybrid chr makes no sense here due to cost. Folks will turn to Rav hybrid. So yes ux makes sense which by the way is a tad smaller than CHR.Every body wants this and that and forgets cost and competition, more so in a crazy climate right now. Believe me Toyota did their homework. Corolla cross may soon hit the shores and sold along side chr since hyundai kia are saturating the market with small suvs. Lastly I whip around those on and off ramps in the 6ix very quickly. Not an issue. Google... Jd power top car plants 2020 see who won gold and why Specifically to this vehicle.

I just bought one of these and I have to say I actually do not find the engine to be as lackluster as people complain about. You’re going to give up a little bit of torque not having a turbo but this car is also going to outlast any of those other crossovers that have turbos engines. The car looks really nice especially in the limited trim it looks way more expensive than what it cost. The driving experience is very smooth if you’re looking for something to burn rubber of course this is not for you, but out of all of the small crossovers this one looks the best. This particular Toyota is manufactured in Japan which you can expect it to last a very long time.

My Mom bought a 2020 CHR and last winter Toyota had a recall on the block heater. They asked people to come in so service can disconnect the block heat. It was -35 C when they told people in Winnipeg to stop using the block heater. Today Toyota has not replaced the block heater and winter is coming. I am done with Toyota and am telling people Toyota has nose dived in quality and are not fixing warranty issues in an appropriate time frame. I will never buy Toyota. Bought a new 2022 Mazda CX 5 GT Sport and I am very happy with it. Toyota is terrible.
