2020+ Subaru Outback Cargo Net Install
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
How to install the OEM Cargo Net for a 2020+ (Gen6) Subaru Outback. This is part #F551SAN000, which goes for about $35 from online parts websites. Inexpensive and useful, though I end up always taking mine out when the dogs are in the back. (expand for more)
I know it's annoying but one little click to "subscribe" supports small channels like me so much. I make lots of other Subaru content; thanks so much for watching.
1:55 - Skips the installation and goes straight to the function of the net.

My dad has the 2021 outback and bought the cargo net. He wasn't going to start drilling holes in a brand new car so he put the net away. Until I found your video. Long story short, he now has a cargo net perfectly installed thanks to your video. Simple, short very clear directions. Thank you for your help.
Thanks, My cargo net came from the dealer with no instructions or template, and the knobs loose in the pouch. I printed a template online and had it all done in minutes. Wouldn't of went down that way without your instructions!
Thanks for posting this video. It was very helpful for me, and I just installed the cargo net on my 22 Outback today.
Thanks for making it so easy to install the net. Before I watched the video I tried to ask the dealer service department; but they were absolutely no help. One even asked me to rip the panel to install it. I am glad I did not follow their lead and found your post.
Sorry for my question after reading all the comments and someone said thanks for templates, i looked harder and found them on your description. Thanks for the video it is great made it simple to install
Thanks for posting. When I picked up my cargo net from my dealer. The parts guys printed the instructions that had the template.
Thanks so much! I ordered the net.. it came with the knobs to add, but not the instructions. You including the link to them was fantastic. Greatly appreciated!

Exactly what I was looking for. Got an 2020 Onyx the other day and figured out the same setup but wasn't sure if it was right. Thanks for the quick tutorial!!

What did you do in lieu of having a template?
Thanks for the informative instructions. Great video
Thank you so much for this video. I just bought two 2023 Outbacks. A month later I bought two cargo nets and was also very surprised that the attachment points weren’t already installed. These instructions were excellent. However, the only thing I would add is to buy the drill stops that the instructions tell you to use. This will keep you from accidentally drilling too far and possibly drilling into the metal body of your car. They only cost $6.99 at my local Do It Best Hardware store. That could save you from a disaster.
Excellent help. Installed with no problem. Thanks for providing the template.

Do just drill the plastic or both plastic & metal?
Great idea hope this fits on my 2015 outback limited. thank you for sharing. Happy new year. 🎆
Great job on this video. I bought a new 2023 and this saved me a trip to the dealer. Well done.

Love this!!!! I have 2022 OBW and I need these so bad.
Thank you. Sad Subaru parts dept didn’t let me know. Excellent links.
Thank you for this. Received my net today, no instructions, and I hadn't realize I had to drill holes myself. Confused, I turned to google. 5 minutes after seeing this, the net's installed in my 2014 Forester, ready to go. (For us older models, the template doesn't work, but they have little dots molded in the plastic where we're supposed to drill.)

good stuff. thank you for the videos.
I am very surprised Subaru would not already have the hooks to attach the cargo net.

Yeah, they were stock on my wife’s 2014. Luckily a very easy job. I’d rather buy an electric drill if I had to then pay a shop for this. Then you get to keep the tool for other projects and still come out ahead. That’s how I built up half my “shop” haha.

This and having a bumper ready for a hitch.
Thank you! I can't believe the car doesn't come with it already. My dad did it for me since the dealership wanted to charge me $65 to drill the holes for me 😵💫

Thank you for posting this! I’m looking at a ‘21 w/o the rear cargo net and have never had an OB that didn’t have the cargo net pre installed. This gives me confidence that an idiot like myself can do it. One question though.... Why the two different drill sizes? Why not just straight to the larger size and use only one drill bit?
@BurntOnBothEnds

Awesome, glad it helped a little! I started with a smaller bit because sometimes if you start with a big bit, it can walk off center. Might not actually be an issue here, not sure.
It's going to be tough to get my wife to let me drill holes in her brand new car. I can't believe Subaru didn't put an upper hook for a cargo net. :(
Did not get templates do you know if you can download them somewhere
Thank you

the rubberized insert keeps pulling out. What can be done to fix this?

Lol of course the oem install would require drilling lol ..just got this and it didn't come with the template 😅
Could you give me a part number for just the hardware? One side of mine fell out and I need that rubber grommet for my 2015 Outback. This video was so helpful, thank you so much!!!

Wish I could tell you, but I don’t know. It looks like Subaru just uses one part number for the whole kit and doesn’t list individual parts like that.
