I owned a Range Rover with the upgraded Meridian sound system. My lease was ending and I was curious to see what other cars were offering and sound quality is VERY important to me. I’ve tried over 10 SUVs but nothing blow me away more than the Lincoln Aviator (Revel) and the Volvo XC90 (Bower and Wilkins). They are AMAZING for any acoustic songs. I was really disappointed with the Merce

To my ears the best are the Volvo Bowers and Wilkins and the Lexus Mark Levinson systems. Currently in the Volvo, but may end up back in a Lexus if my issues don't get resolved (lots of issues so far). Hyundai Harman Kardon is not up to par, Genesis Lexicon isn't either, Acura ELS 3D was awful, it's why I got rid of my RDX for the Volvo. It's weird, most of these systems are owned by Harman, but they make vastly different systems. In a Volvo and BMW the HK is great. In Hyundai the HK is awful. They own Lexicon too... and Mark Levinson. B&W are one of the few I've found not owned by Harman. Wish they used their good stereos on all cars with HK. Oh, Harman also owns Revel too. But my favs are the Bowers and Wilkins and Mark Levinson systems.

Nothing come close to bang and olufsen 3D audio especially in Audi Q7

@@anandvarma5565 personal preference I guess. Was not a fan and have never heard a B&O that I liked. My work laptop has B&O speakers. Lol. Test drove several Audi models with B&O. Also every ford with a B&O as well. Didn’t like any of them.

@@ajns746 u can’t compare laptops to car audio- it’s way different. I drive an Audi Q7 with B$O and did test many other stereo systems in different brands nothing like b&o- it’s too loud and clear with 3D surround.

I wish more people reviewed the revel ultima. I just purchased a Lincoln MKX black label, haven’t picked it up yet. I’m excited for the audio the most!

Me too! I'm not sure at 65 I will have the audiophile ears this kid has but in my advanced age I know how to maniuplate the equilizer to compensate for different recordings...:)....ah, kids. they think they know it all right?....:)

I don't know for some reason I feel the Revel sound system sounds much better in the Lincoln Continental than the Aviator. I agree with you it missing something from this car maybe.

How easy would it be to add a sub using oem radio andharnesses/adapter/splitters?

idk if it's available in the us but could i test the citroen c4 cactus?

Even though some people disagree, sound systems tend to improve after initial use, it's the so called burn-in period. Sometimes it might be 50 hours of listening, sometimes 100 hours. In many cases, the differences are very significant. Do you think this might have an effect in your testing of different automobile audio systems? I can't imagine these testing car systems have been used that much.

This is certainly possible! Most of these cars come to us with less than 4000 miles.

28 speakers is insane. hell, i'm happy with my 11 speaker revel system in my mkz! it's just a bummer the radio volume is limited for some reason, even at max audio. Same with Sirius XM. CD's are so much louder for some reason. Ipod also is bottlenecked for some reason. Not sure why the CD player is so much louder than everything else. Kind of disappointing if you listen to anything but CD's.

Was looking forward to this one! Sound a little disappointed? Don't have lincoln in the UK, so badly want one of these (or a Navigator)

I enjoyed the review. I think your song that "put the system to the test" was a muddy engineering job. Earth Wind & Fire's "got to get you into my life" is my test song as I believe it is the best engineered song I have ever heard. As for the disappointment with some of the highs I note you played all this on the factory settings. You may need to adjust settings depending on the quality of the recordings you are playing right?..:) And with the volumes of music available online today why in the world would I care if a CD player wasn't included?

Something with a dedicated subwoofer. The best I've ever heard is probably the Cadillac Escalade AKG

Bowers and Wilkins is NOT owned by Harman. AKG, AMX, Arcam, Bang & Olufsen Automotive, Becker, BSS Audio, Crown, dbx, DOD Electronics, DigiTech, Harman Kardon, Infinity, JBL, Lexicon, Mark Levinson, Martin, Revel, Soundcraft and Studer. May have to lemon out my XC60 with Bowers and Wilkins. So far the best two I can find are Mark Levinson and Revel, for my listening tastes. This isn't as good as a B&W or ML, but decent. Test drove a 2022. I don't feel the same amount of power that I do from my B&W. The B&W is the main reason I went with volvo. That and the styling. Too bad the other components of the car are not as good as the stereo. Currently in the shop - day 5, they have no idea what is causing all the issues, and have already replaced everything they can think of... Still lots of issues. Sadly, if I do have to lemon it out, I will probably get another XC60 with B&W and just hope that it isn't a lemon like mine.

This is this last review I will watch. I’m tired of the amateur quality of the comments. I am sick of hearing “it’s not as crisp as the best”. How about some objective tests, if you are going to judge EQ. Everybody’s ears have a EQ preference although I feel that those who haven’t taken care of their hearing (because of headphones or loud concerts) want over bright sound.
