Did you PPF the car? I recently got a '20 HEP myself and am waiting for it to be PPFed. I haven't decided if I will ceramic coat on top of the PPF or not. I was heavily considering this product, but I have heard a number of people complain of it wearing off very fast. Much faster than the advertised 7 years. I'm interested to see how yours holds up. Nice car, although I may be biased :D

Personally, I have a HEP-R and if you are going to keep this car for 5 years + nothing beats full car PPF for true protection and longevity. It's way more expensive but ceramic coating (to me) is just aesthetic it does not offer impact protection but does have UV/cleaning protection value. I do agree and recommend ceramic coating on the rims. I went the ceramic route on my previous Audi S5 and learned this lesson the hard way. Vowed when I got the Shelby I would put the money in and not make that mistake especially when I plan to keep it for a very long time. I know others have done ceramic over PPF but that makes no sense in my opinion. Just use some xpel boost over the PPF and you have the same hydrophobic properties that ceramic offers. If you are going to track the car the ceramic coating will be pretty much useless for impact protection and would 100% recommend PPF (at the very least on the front nose and front quarter panel) in that scenario. Good luck.

@@creamfalcon Yeah, that's my plan. I will hang onto it as long as I can. I had a '14 Cali special that took a number of paint chips and it made me very sad. I swore that if I ever had another nice new car I would take proper care of it. I started with considering just the front of the car, but after looking into it I kept adding more and more panels until I made it to a full car wrap. I plan on tracking it and I don't want to see any ppf seams. So here I am. I can't wait to get it back. I plan on tracking the car for sure and want to make sure I don't plaster the paint with rocks. The benefit of ceramic on the ppf is to protect your protection investment but also gain the advantage of a deeper gloss, while also having hydrophobic properties which in theory should make it easier to clean. Aside from the professional stuff, it doesn't seem anything consumer grade lives up to the marketing. I'll have to look into xpel boost, if it is offered to consumers.

I wanted to ceramic coat the car to see the difference in the shine and uv protection, I will be putting PPF on the car because of the track days I will be attending. It was a full days work, but that's how I like to learn. I will be coating my rims as well.

Why no paint correction? Or decon wash?

After constantly inspecting the paint, it was my decision that a full paint correction was not needed, I chose to keep layers of the clear coat on it...I did use Clean Slate when I washed it, and did a mild clay with the mitt. I'm used to doing a six step paint correction on my other vehicles, however I was amazed how nice the paint came out on my car from the factory.
