I saw Tiffany live in LA last year and people are really sleeping on her talent. Her voice is so rich and full. Most kpop voices are thin and high pitched to sound aegyo, but Tiffany is like a sexy woman. Her City of Stars cover here is magical.

I agree, I went to her concert here in Chicago and she sounds fantastic and she was amazing she didn’t take a break at her concert. She dances throughout the whole concerts which is about 1-2 hours long.

The reason why she is not that recognized a singer in Korea. Korean are more into thin and squeaky voices.

So sad to see Jessica like this.. she lost a lot of her confidence as a singer after being a soloist and even admitted to be scared to sing without backtrack :( She should know that she is an amazing main vocalist and should not be afraid

Kpop World yes as much as I love her let it go and birthday was a studio version and can be edited, we need a live version and without backtrack, she was praised for her vocals in the comment section and maybe this will encourage her again to have confidence in her vocals and maybe we will see her sing without backtrack

Not surprised about Tiffany, she got a vocal trainer when she came to America so her really vocal talents are being taken care of while SM would really push the girls too hard. Even Taeyeon has sounded raw from too much abuse. I love Seohyuns falsetto so much too, her high note in Don't Say No is gold!

Tiffany, I always knew snsd songs weren't her genre because her english covers, and now her solo songs much more complements her voice and she's much more comfortable. Jess also had a different genre now that she's a soloist which is more relaxing and tamed songs. I miss J's singing back when she was in gg because her vocal range were really explored then. I hope SM would give Taeyeon more relaxing songs as to relax her voice though I'm more or less used to her powerful singing but @30 her voice is showing too much strain which is obvious in live singing.

People needs to realized that being a good vocalist isn't all about who can hit the most high note. It's all about technique, breath control and how stable you are in singing despite changing keys and dancing. Sunny can actually hit high notes(& whistle notes) but does that mean she's at the same level with Taeyeon in terms of vocal? I agree with this ranking. So many members improved their singing capabilities, most notable is Sooyoung and Tiffany.

Be stable or not actually don't determine if you are a good vocalist or not. If you are gonna judge the breath control and breath management always is better check vocals without dances.

Jessica is part of vocal line, her best is vibratos. She is vocally more stable and distinctive than sooyoung. She has great potential and ability. She should be 4th. Sunny (5th) has wide range but lack of stability and distinction. Sooyoung sing fine, but she must not ranked as 4th. She couldn't make any long vibratos and her stability and distinction is smaller than vocal line.

Jyko Yee Tiffany, like many other idols, was forced to use her voice in a range that wasn’t comfortable to her in SM. Tiffany developed vocal nodes very early on and she suffered greatly because of the pressure from SM. Comparing her vocals from then to what they are now, she sounds way better and more comfortable!

I always believed that Sooyoung is lead vocalist material. She gets better in each live. She got less lines back then because she’s not that popular, and she’s amongst the most not popular member until now. She’s so underrated. Glad she left SM to pursue her solo career.

So What I never said she is in vocal line, but I said she has lead vocal material. SNSD should consist of 3 main vocal, 3 lead vocal, 3 sub vocal which sounds fairer. In other girl groups Sooyoung is easily a lead vocal. Her technique is the best among the dance line, even far better than Yuri who tends to go off tune & crack her voice although she has thick husky voice.

The reasons why she have less lines is because the vocal line is just really good in singing. Look at Yoona, most of the popular but barely sing in their songs too.

6 years?????? Are you a new SNSD fan? Do you even know Jessica?? Go and watch her solo albums. How can you say that she has not used her vocal since 6 years like you are making fun of yourself. She is not active only in 2020 otherwise you can search on Google about her solo albums and songs after departure from snsd. People really never follow updates and talk shit about idols and drag their images down. It's funny how people are making it seem like Jessica has not sung since 6 years when her solo album was one of the best selling albums in 2016 in china and other countries. That year only EXO and BTS and JESSICA had made to the list in China. Even in 2019 she had her song out (Call me before you sleep with Giriboy) Only 2020 is inactive including all the other snsd members too. It's ridiculous how people hate her without even knowing anything about her as an artist.

I have been listening to their newer releases. Tiffany's new songs are very good. I like her Lips on my Lips and Teach you quite a lot. Her beauty on Lips on lips is so breathtaking. She has improved her range greatly. She doesn't struggle at all with high notes any longer. She has had some voice coaching, no doubt. Even her dancing is smoother. It is not just nostalgia. She may now be the best singer in SNSD (I think so) but if so not by much. Taeyeon's voice and music are excellent. Although she hasn't changed her style all that much. It makes me wish Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun would restart TTS.

Just to make Tiffany's voice seem better it's not necessary to compare her voice with Jessica by putting her in 6th place and bring her position down. You can always appreciate your bloody bias's vocal without having to drag main vocalists. Taeyeon is also a main vocalist and makes a lot of mistakes sometimes on stage her voice sometimes goes off track that's okay it happens sometimes but people often ignore it but judge Jessica very harshly as she is an easy target and not in the group. Apart from this the video shows only non challenging performance videos of both Taeyeon and Jessica. Anyone can say that. @@elley13 There was no fear involved. There was resentment that she was not taking her job seriously. That her fashion company took up too much time. She wasn't practicing with the group, she was constantly lipsyncing her part during live performances. She also had a major clash with a group member who would no longer even talk to her. It was causing too much stress with the group. So they voted her out. This is how I perceive what happened. Only the members know for sure though. I was sad to see her depart.

I was present on that Tiffany’s concert in Manila. And I tell you, I did get goosebumps when I heard all her belting. She really had a strong voice and greatly improved in singing. Also, on Taeyeon’s concert too, her voice is a real music to my ears! It made me cry that night coz I’m so proud of them both! 🥰👏❤️

SM really fukd up not putting Tiff and Seo as main vocals, TaeTiSeo was really something special. Before Mamamoo, these ladies paved the vocal stage.

I'm proud of seohyun. I still remember that time when she's struggling with her breath control while performing. Now, she improved and doing good

Seohyun improved so much really since debut, it's just unfortunate she's not active in the music industry or even musicals since 2018. So the growth probably stopped for a bit but she's still really a great vocalist overall and harmonizer. Can't wait to see her again performing!

I like Tiffany's voice very much. Her singing sounds strong and infectious. Especially after returning to the United States, the vocal position has changed, and her new album lips on lips is really good to hear.

I agree, hyoyeon may be last but it's not bad, she loves her dance music and is getting to shine in her talents :) And when did Tiffany get so gud? Finally!! Some recognized Tiffany's voice! She's improved leaps and bounds lately and definitely deserves her No. 2 spot.

Taeyeon is the Queen of Everything vocal, so I trust her the most. There was a reason she always chose Tiffany as her Duet partner, the one she went out karaoke all night long to sing ballads was Tiffany. Taeyeon saw her love and talent for music, and later Seohyun too. TaeTiSeo was born of these 3 pillars of vocals. Seohyun high falsetto and harmonizing, Taeyeons strong middle & belting and Tiffanys low voice and velvety texture made perfection ^^

Tiffany and Taeyeon went to SM and ASKED to have the Sub unit after their Lady Marmalade collab became a huge hit and later added Seohyun of their own choice. Any female group can't beat their levels till today because SM trained Tiffany and Seohyun as main vocalists from training days. So TTS are very good at vocal skills like Super Junior's KRY (main vocals sub unit). And you said as other members were busy, haha! Leader Taeyeon and Tiffany, the most talented member, (being MC, Designer, CFs, she attended many fashion shows, variety shows, etc.).

Sooyoung shined more since Jessica left, hope no one takes that out of context >< she's just gotten more chances to sing since then Still love Jessica and thought she was the 2nd best vocal after Taeyeon with ot9

Tiffany is not just a singer. She is a performer. She knows how to hype the crowd. She talks to them. She do addlibs and she's really good with audience. Her concerts are more enjoyable than taeyeon's tbh (tae is also good too). But there is something with tffany that will make you ask for more. You will never get bored with tiffany's concert tour.

I saw clips of Magnetic Moon tour where she just talked about the most uplifting, and positive things I've ever heard. Kinda corny not gonna lie, but that's just because I'm a sour person. And i feel like, because her 1st language is english people could resonate with her words more because you don't need to translate what she's saying. Well Tifanny has strong charismatic stage presence and exceptional showmanship so that really explains.

that sooyoung live performance was unbelievably good, no backtrack yet she hit perfectly almost every single note!

Honestly I can see why either Tiffany and Seohyun would be 2nd, I think they both deserve it. When Tiffany nails her line it's magical, shes as good as Taeyeon in that moment especially the belting, but she can be inconsistent so you brace yourself like "will she make it?" XD While Seohyun has a much higher chance of hitting her notes, maybe a bit less impressive than fany, but she's stable and clear and also has a lovely texture to her voice. I think Seohyun has a bit more control of her voice where Tiffany can get carried away in the song. I think this is why I love them so much, SeoFany balance each other out, all of SNSD balance each other where others lack a bit behind

Tiffany vocals really did improve more and more and her vocal teachniques this days are more comfortable to her now, and considering that she had history of vocal nodule, shes still belting, thankfully with the proper treatment she eventually recovered- What i mean is, that is PURE TALENT right there.

I think Sunny’s was not accurate, she has a high tessitura so her lower register is quite weak. She has decent mixed and also the best head voice in SNSD. And the video say the opposite 🤷🏼‍♂️

@Champ ! That wasn't live though. The ranking on this video is based on live vocal performances. Even the videos of her performing the song at her Golden Night concerts are all back tracks.

I always saw many bash Tiffany for her vocals and mistakes but they seem to forget that she suffer(s)ed from vocal nodes and that makes it difficult to sing in various ranges. SM pushed her vocals ALOT and I think that’s a huge reason as to why all that occured. She’s doing much better now with TA, its good to see her sing in the range best suited for her

I think if Jessica had more confidence and does more training, she could be higher. I’m very glad people are seeing Tiffany improving tremendously as she has a new vocal coach and SM not straining her voice anymore!

And Tiffany's vocals also improved. Her stint in the US really helped her a lot.

THANK YOU FOR DOING TIFFANY JUSTICE. But anyways, I wanna say that SNSD are such queens like come on, we have 8(9) girls who are perfectly capable of releasing their own solos. Because they're talented enough to do so and because they're unique enough. I won't ever forget the way these girls performed ITNW right when they debuted, they're still the standard until today. Hyoyeon may be the bottom of the list but look at her go in Good Girl! You would rarely find the sub vocalist of a girl group being like Hyo on stage. The girl was singing with so much confidence and sass. That's Girls' Generation for you. At the same time, I do miss Jessica's strong singing. Nothing wrong with her shifting her focus, I just miss the powerful vocalist Jessica.

GOLDEN TALENT, VOCALS, VISUAL, STAGE PRESENCE, AMAZING PERFORMER, as well as an AMAZING PERSON EVER, kind and positivity overflows around her and of course her smile that light up everything. true enough, that people hate a person whos close to be perfect, Tiffany definitely GOT ALL OF EM, that's why they're so pressed.

The thing is Sunny & Yuri were the voices that were sooo strong in the beginning but we either lost/weaken little by little or werent used as much and correctly as time passed by 💔 💔💔

I'm not hating but S.M has its magic with vocals during live shows (most obviously in award shows) their backtracks are actually pre-recorded live vocals.

Sunny has the best head voice in Girls’ Generation. Like, everyone knows this as a fact. So I’m surprised that you said she has a weak head voice. Her lower register is her weakest, she has the highest voice in SNSD. And despite her weaker lower register, she has a wider range than Sooyoung, Seohyun & Tiffany (I’m not sure about Taeyeon), last time I checked professional analytics. Octave wise.

Sooyoung is an ace. She has strong visuals, an EXCELLENT dancer and also has a very stable voice. She’s even hit some high notes on few snsd songs

jessica in 6? you're being biased. among the nine girls, jessica is the most stable along with taeyeon and this "she lost her confidence bla bla bla" sucks. you say that because she doesn’t release music with a lot of high notes, as if high notes were the most important thing. jessica has the best vibrato, lower register and falsetto in the group, and since you apparently give so much importance to a high note, watch her cover of let it go, birthday and dangerous woman on her youtube channel, maybe seeing this you can change your mind.

Ed Jay Manzon she’s lost confidence in her singing. it’s most likely psychological but since leaving gg i don’t believe she’s had much vocal training to maintain her voice as she isn’t performing much still. if this was back when jessica was still in the group she could be competing with tae for number 1 but it’s 2020 when she hasn’t been using her voice as much, left the music industry, then returned. although i don’t think she should be 6. she would be #4 for me

So sad about my sista Jessica she lost all of her confidence and just gave up singing/bettering herself after getting kicked out of SM and SNSD. Shes still number 2 in my heart

I don't think J lost her confidence, J just lack the passion to continue singing because she found a new passion which is fashion. Unlike Tiff and Tae who really wanted to become singers, J likes to sing as a hobby which can be clearly seen in their present careers. Though most of the time it's a matter of preference, technically J hadn't been practicing her vocals so its lost its high quality. Though comparing them isn't really applicable since they now have different genre and style of singing. I think they can only be compared when they were back in gg because they have the same premises.

The main factor that makes you cant compare 2020 snsd with 2012 snsd is the fact, now all of them find their own separate direction in music. Each of them discover their own style and colour, some still pretty much active in singing, some lessen the singing activity. For example, Jessica suits the most with snsd songs, hence she is the main vocal back then, compare to other members who dont match much like Sooyoung. But now, Sooyoung able to discover music that fits her the most, hence boost her position. Also, this does not mean Jessica become worse, it just that she also kinda stop being that active in singing hence nothing much to judge anw. Another example is Tiffany. Back then, ppl thought her voice is too strong for snsd, but now, she discovers music that fits her strong vocal. She also kinda become one of the members who still strongly active in music, hence added points to her.

I always believe that my bias wrecker, choi sooyoung is the lead vocal material. She is very good vocally but sm prefer her to be in line dance instead of vocal line. Look at her performance during fan meeting, its all live singing duhh. I hope she will be releasing more song and promote it on music show. Well she deserve to be in #4 in this list.

True....I even watched one of her live performance during a fanmeet and she started first without any instrumentals or backtracks which only entered in the middle of the performance and still slayed the stage and made the fans sing along with her.

My list: 1 Taeyeon 2 Tiffany 3 Seohyun/Jessica 4 Sunny/Sooyoung 5 Hyoyeon/Yuri/Yoona But bottomline, all members can sing well ❤️

Sooyoung has a very sweet voice, I believe she didn´t get as much attention because most strong songs may not suit her voice, but you can totally feel the feelings she put into every piece and how stable she is. Her passagio is very weak, and trust me, a weak passagio mixed with dances, it makes it really hard to actually pull off a good performance, maybe that is why. I am not saying she has a weak voice, I really like it, I love all of SNSD´s members so please do not attack me

Taeyeons nasality is more an stylistic choice ,it gives her a twang sound.

oh, I didn't expect Sunny would be higher than Jessica, but I absolutely love when Sunny sings. I think her singing is really underrated. Especially because she's "just" SooMan's niece (many people used to say that a lot back then, and I really didn't like it)

I've been seeing Sooyoung sing live more often recently. But wow, dare I say, she has a similar tone or singing voice with Tiffany? Or idk if I'm hearing it right? But she deserves that 4th rank.

she definitely has a similar tone to Tiffany’s nasal one. I used to not be able to differentiate their voices with the older music. but as Tiffany’s voice matured and Sm started letting her sing with her natural deeper tone, that’s when the differences became more evident

True... especially in their sailing song, when I didn't watch the video with their line distribution I really thought that Tiffany got so many lines that she almost ate up the whole song but it was actually hers and Sooyoung's. And I didn't identified my bias (Sooyoung) voice😭

I agree with this ranking so much. I feel like many times people are either biased or stuck in the past with their vocal rankings. Some members improved a lot over the years and other declined like lets be honest here.

Most videos I've seen aren't recent and used pre-recorded/ lip sync stages from like 2013 XD These are their most recent "Live" performances I could find to date, no lipsync, No backtrack (if even possible for that member), no auto tune or pitch correcting mics. I really wish Sunny would find a passion for singing again, I realized how much I missed her voice seeing her last live was in 2017 T.T

Honestly so many kpop fans can't even tell when something is pre-recorded anymore the shows try so hard to fool us. SNSD is one of the rare groups that can go without any ^^ I never see 3rd gen even dare acoustic unless it's on Sketchbook where they autotune anyways

Taeyeon is amazing but I love Seohyun's voice so much! Its like she can sing from ballad to pop just literally everything. And her harmony in each SNSD's song... SNSD's song without Seohyun's voice is not soshi song. And listening to Seohyun's album and songs while she singing it I have the feeling like its SNSD's song or the song that they could sing cuz Seohyun's voice is like home for us (I think all SONEs know what I mean hahah)

For me it’s tiffany. Seohyun can be easily replaced by taeyeon, because their tones are quite similar, but seohyun can’t replace taeyeon. But with tiffany, her tone and style are just so unique that if someone sings her part, it will sound very off and misplaced. There’s just something special about the way she sings that none of them can replicate

Taeyeon's performances in 's... concert were sooo good and they even changed some arrangements on songs 💓

I always say that ..sooyoung is a hidden voice in snsd

I can't agree more with this ranking! Especially for Sooyoung I believe she improved a lot and her talent is really underrated. Tiffany, my bias, always shining ❤ She's been working so hard in these last years am glad that's she's finally being recognized as the amazing singer she is! GG4EVA ❤❤

taeyeon is a given being the top main vocal on the other side its sad to see seeing seohyun's vocals underappreciated by people and some sones even. she's really stable during live stages especially considering how she also never slacks in her dancing. lead vocal and also one of the dancers too.
