Great tutorial! Has anyone gone in the other direction? I don't care for the larger screen but it was the only way to get other features like the awesome multi-contour seats and other goodies. Installing the smaller screen is easy but would I need to change the firmware as well?

I was wrong. Checked the product kit, you do have to change the APIM
i have a question im going to install this in my xlt on saturday, but my question is when my lease is up next year can i go back to the smaller screen ?

It should, though we haven't done it for the new Explorer. We've done other upgrades in the past. But it may require some additional installation steps. We offer a discount for law enforcement officers. Call one of our tech advisors at 855-636-6287.

How old is the screen?? The video says a year old! Usually car companies have new screen updates every year!!

Within a few years. We have some brand new and some refurbished.
Don't do it! the damn screen is worse. carplay is tiny on this screen.

While I agree this is not as nice as the 12" the F-150's got, it is still quite a bit nicer then the 8" Sync 3 radio. It is something that can act as a hold over until the Sync 4 retrofits become available to the Explorer.

@@Infotainment_nav It is absolutely worse than the 8" in every way EXCEPT for built in Nav. Carplay and backup cameras were LARGER on the 8".
