    About 10 years ago I walked into a pawn shop and they had a beautiful shotgun. I was not familiar with the Berettas then. Bottom line for $1500 US I walked out with a 1989 687EELL Skeet with fully adjustable stock and after market thin wall chokes. I fell in love with Berettas. That was my first EELL. My latest are a DT10 Combo and a SV10 Perennia III. I just added the 32" X-trap barrel to the SV10 so it is now a "Combo" . I really like the bird patterns of engraving.

    For $16,000 I' ll take a Perazzi MX8 if they still make it. Great sporting gun with 32 inch barrels. 32 inch barrels are good for long precise shots- 75 or 85 yards. We used to shoot trap from the parking lot of our club 60 yards behind the trap house . Shrll only cost two bucks a box to reload so we shot a whole flat at a time, sometimes three flats a week.

    Hello Jonathan! First of all thank you very much for your nice videos and sharing all your expertise with is on KZread! Great videos, chapeau! If somebody could just help me out with a question regarding the prince of wales grip. At the Moment I am shooting a 686 Silver Pigeon 1 Sporting and would like to Upgrade to the 687 EELL. I definitely dont like the english style stocks without any pistol grip on SXS shotguns. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to hold a 687 EELL Classic in my hands. How is the grip angle of this gun in comparison to my 686 SP1 Sporting. Would you recommend the gun or not. I want to use it on the clay ground for most of the time and enjoy the classic extra lusso feeling 😉

    Good summary - A Range Rover which is as reliable as a Golf !!. Not only that but it doesn't break down like a Range Rover !!!. Not so keen on the balance point however but short barrels etc - What was the overall weight ??.

  • @francisconway9949
    @francisconway99499 ай бұрын

    I think it is rather extraordinary that Beretta would allow a "Quality" gun out of the factory that has such a terrible balance. Granted weight can he added to the stock but then you have a heavy slim gun which is incongruous....It looks lovely though. 😂

    I have had nothing but issues with this one. Customer service in the USA is very bad. I purchased one of these (new) based on your review and it has been a nightmare. The stock had tooling marks from the stock copying machine. It had to be shipped back for wet sand and then re-apply the oil finish. It was again shipped back as there was an issue with Lower barrel firing. It came back and again the lower barrel would not fire 25% of the time. It is now back at Beretta USA for the 3rd time. It is Extra Extra Lousy Lousy. You can see a video of the issue on my profile.

    I bought a 20 bore and found that the engraving was lovely as was the quality of the wood. I have been calling the grip a Prince of Whales but agree it is not quite the same. The 20 bore came with 5 choke tubes, 28” bls and chambered for both 2 3/4” and 3” shells. I have a Beretta Imperiale grade 12 bore cased 2 bl set, my Father bought in Italy several years ago which I love, but for a 20 bore this is an elegant little gun. I love your videos so please keep them coming. How about doing some on my other favorite shot gun the Piotti

    Is there a point at which guns become style over substance? There must be a point at which the price charged for a gun with nicer looking wood and different engraving is no different to its cheaper alternative which is the same gun underneath the clothing.

  • @borjastick

    @borjastick

    I've been saying the same for many years. You can either shoot or you cannot. Having an expensive gun doesn't make you shoot better. Once you get above about £2500 you won't get better. It's just a case of finding the right fit and comfort for you. For me I shoot DTL with a Browning Ultra XTR which was about €3300 when new 16 yrs ago. It's like a millionaire spending £100k on a pair of Purdeys. Looks good and gives him a boner but won't make him shoot any better.

    Hmmm🤔 Sounds to me like another mass produced gun... 🤔 Please do not miss understand, I am certainly not opposed to mass produced guns. I am opposed to makers using mass production techniques such as laser engraving to dress up an otherwise typical or average gun and then selling at a vastly higher premium under the guise that it is in someway special... It just reaks of marketing techniques to lure unsuspecting buyers... 🥂

    8000 Pounds works out to nearly A$16,000 here in Australia , I bought a brand new MIROKU MK70, DELUXE EDITION G5 SPORTER ,12 GAUGE, 30" BARRELS, 5X INVECTOR PLUS CHOKES , GRADE 5 STOCK & FOREND, DELUXE HAND ENGRAVED RECEIVER for A$2749.00 to my mind a much better gun (hate skinny pistol grips) and certainly much better value. Sorry but as far I'm concerned Beretta's are way over priced and certainly not any better than Miroku's. Mind you, you can pay upwards of A$12000.00 here for a Miroku G13 Custom if that is your want.

    That is true…..at the end of the day it’s still just a plain ole 687. However, the 680 series has historically has been a proven design. This gun fits a niche for someone who is looking for a reasonably priced gun that is very pretty. Personally I think for the price you would be much better off buying a used higher end gun without all the engraving.

    "So new - I'm not appreciating it yet" - very polite! The plain fact is; the birds don't look right on this gun! I have an older EELL with two pheasant on one side and a woodcock on the other, and they were clearly done by an artist who could draw birds. The birds on this 2020 model are not so well drawn and the gun looks like a cheap copy. The same goes for the stock - what a horrible piece of walnut! No figuring or classic wavy lines, and it looks like a large filled knot - which will eventually fall apart (if it is). Shame.
