Beautiful piece of machinery.

I’ve never understood the fascination with engraving. It’s just bling... but the action, stock and barrel make the gun.

I can understand and do like game scene engraving. But, that vine and leaf type scroll is girly looking to me. It reminds me of roses or grape vines. No idea why men can stand it. I hate it.

Hate game scenes, and actually find Beretta over engrave everything (and I have a couple of Berettas). My 19th and early 20th Century English guns do something not dissimilar but it just works without looking bling. And personally, I am far too parsimonious to pay for fancy engraving. If it has the same action, but lesser engraving and lesser wood, what's the justification of paying more? Most O/U are ugly as sin, and the 687EELL is to me (and I know its opinion and subjective) like putting lipstick on a pig.

Totally agree. I have a 692 Black Edition and love the complete absence of engraving.

I have had nothing but issues with this one. Customer service in the USA is very bad. I purchased one of these (new) based on these types of reviews and it has been a nightmare. The stock had tooling marks from the stock copying machine. It had to be shipped back for wet sand and then re-apply the oil finish. It was again shipped back as there was an issue with Lower barrel firing. It came back and again the lower barrel would not fire 25% of the time. It is now back at Beretta USA for the 3rd time. It is Extra Extra Lousy Lousy. You can see a video of the issue on my profile.
