2020 250 Shootout | by Michael Lindsay Testing

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

What happens when you set up the 2020 Yamaha YZ250F, Honda CRF250R, KTM 250 SX-F, Husqvarna FC 250, Kawasaki KX250 and the Suzuki RM-Z250 to go head-to-head? Watch and find out! And for more on each of these bikes, check out the individual videos I'm dropping on each model to explain their characteristics from each test rider's view and how they finished where they did.
Got questions? I try to answer them all, so throw them in the comment section.
A huge thank you to Chaparral Motorsports for making this thing happen, check them out at www.ChapMoto.com

I've owned a bike since I was 9 years old to 42 years old. I haven't had a bike for 5 years. I will probably never own another one. I have an awesome boat, Air Natique but it's not the same. Better for the family and my health but not as much fun.

I am looking at getting either the 2020 KX250 or CRF250R this week but the Kawi is $2000 cheaper at my dealer and you say it's better for tall riders (I'm 6'3). Tough choice to make

Some weird complaints on the Yamaha about the bars and pegs. Everyone changes the position of the bars when they buy a bike. I’d buy the Yamaha just for the fact the motors are more reliable and doesn’t go through valves like a Honda does. Honda’s are know for bad head shake as well had one hated it. Plus with Yamaha with the tuner app no need for aftermarket parts to get more power. That’s why I went and bought the 450 after riding it and just like the 250 it’s amazing the power you can tune into the bikes they handle and turn great and the suspension is amazing stock.

Do you think the Yamaha will be to cramped for him? trying to line up a test ride on the new YZ to see how he likes it but thought I would get your opinion. He is a fast B rider in skill level and is very aggressive (flat landing, hammering everything) We can always stick with the Kawi. I am in between the 2. Any feedback or advice you can give?

andrew harissiaidis not much on the 19. Some small character changes to the motor but not drastic. The 20 has a big frame and suspension update, some minor motor changes and different internal gear ratios. Honestly, the ratio changes made a big difference on the ride-ability. Mostly with how the bike is in RPM when going from second to third gear.

Man, what a video! Thumbs up! And the long hair surfer dude style is back! Man, I was yesterday thinking why there is no ML test video of the 20 250s and here we go. Michael, I am a novice and about to buy a new bike. A dealer close by offered me a CR-F 450 for a nice price. I drove it some rounds on his yard and it felt good. But I read everywhere a 450 is a no go for amateurs. What do you think?

Opa Blitz it’s a tough bike to handle day in and day out. Are you dead set on a 450? What bike are you riding right now?

@@MichaelLindsay tbh that is why I am really, really cracking my head over the decision because I didn't ride a MX bike for years. I am 200lbs now and have rather mediocore endurance. I am a little worried that a 250 will struggle with my weight.

I also ended up racing 450 for years, but I have not been on one for years, as well. Last year I rode a friend's 250 and I was like OMG, this thing has tons of power for a 250, much more than I imagined. Honestly, for an armature rider, I would think a modern 250 is more than enough. I am also around 200 pounds. From reading your post, I'm guessing if you started riding on a regular basis, you would probably lose weight and increase your cardio. There's other things you can do to get your weight down a bit, depending on your bone structure and height. Good luck. Thanks, Micheal… great stuff from you all the time!

I'm looking for a good used bike. With any luck I'll be able to find one that hasn't been abused and can get parts for. I'm 6'6" tall, 230-ish lbs. and ride in northern Nevada (4000 feet+ altitude, sandy, summer temp. high 90's). Does anyone have any recommendations? I don't consider myself a super aggressive rider. I'm more of a four banger 450 kinda guy but open to other possibilities (2-smokes, 250's, euro-trash....just kidding, I know KTM and Huskies can make good bikes). Now I think about it, I haven't been on a 2-stroke in years, is premixing and carburetor jetting still necessary? Thus far, I've experienced (and never been disappointed with), Honda's, Suzuki's and Yamaha's.

I wish the 2 stroke was still alive. The 250F and 450F are fun but the most fun I ever had was on a 2002 Suzuki RM125 because I could just wring the thing's neck and throw it around like it was a mountain bike. I went from the 125 to a 2006 KX450F which was a blast to ride because it had such violent power and handled nicely and I kicked some serious arse on it just like I did with my 125 but being able to just burp the throttle and jump everything I pointed the front wheel at made me feel like I was cheating. I think when I go back to racing I'll be getting a 250F because I prefer the fun of just running a bike hard and the challenge of using the gears instead of just leaving it in a single gear like a 450

@@markmagness3693 I had a 13 Yz250f and I got the 19 Crf250r. The Honda is literally the opposite of the Yz in every way.... But in the best possible way. Turns incredibly. Stock suspension is great. Motor SCREAMS. The Yz is lower end power, turns more slowly and is bigger. I remember when I first sat on the Honda it felt small too but imo that translated to being able to move the bike more. You can't go wrong with either. Get whatever is cheaper imo. I got my 19 for less than 7k OTD.

@@markmagness3693 I really like the bike thus far, It's a fun bike to ride no doubt. I haven't ridden a newer yz four stroke but I feel like the only thing that's better than the honda is bottom end. Off course yz250f has the best bottom end out of all the 250fs. Crf250r turns really good, good suspension, revs out nicely, the chassis feels great imo. I'm sure either way you'll probably like both bikes.
