how is this different from the dt swiss. Also after I went on like my 20th ride, the hub became dead silent. before, i could hear the ratcheting. Is there sand it or is a spring worn? It still works fine though.

Strange the hooking of the ratchet looks on a inverse angle?

yes, but its correct. the left ratchet is driving, the right ratchet is hooked to the hub. its not intuitive. if you look at the mechanism, the freehub pulls the left ratchet to the outside and closer to the right hub. the mechanism is pretty complex. really not stupid, fancy mechanics, but complex.

Isn't this a very very similar copy of Chris King's R45? Also are these Shimano's animations? the pawl and tooth animation is spinning in the wrong direction. Anywho.. its going to be the best hubs in the world. Quiet hubs FTW

there's no contact between the two gears when preloading, which is different from Chris King.

I dont know why cycling industry took so long to make this kind of stuff. Its literally a roller brake with a jaw clutch

I like the noise a freewheel makes, it alerts hikes/runners that someone is coming up behind them, (even before I can see them at times), and that splined hub doen't look like such a good idea, even when I ran a 36 granny gear on the rear I would chew the splines up on a lightweight hub in a month, having to get the cassette off with a hammer, with a 51 tooth, and my torque I wouldn't count on it lasting a month..

Good points Don. Those idiots at Shimano have clearly not given this much thought before implementing on their flagship mtb drivetrain for '19.

@@FlimFlamvanHam Hope you're both being sarcastic. Anyway, Don, you don't know the first thing about engineering apparently. The larger the contact area, the lower the force applied to any point.

@ Philly C T, of course I’m being bloody sarcastic! It’s Shimano! Some arm chair engineer knows better: right. Sarcasm again there in last sentence.
