Shimano SLX and XT Micro Spline freehubs NOW come with black XTR spacers

Shimano SLX (M7110) and XT (M8110) freehubs are now coming with greased XTR type black colored spacers. I don't think these minor changes can solve the major creaking issue with this hub family. But let's prove this with the trails instead of the words. This new XT hub will replace my old ruined one of absolutely the same specification.

Ну так что стала в итоге трещать новая втулка или нет? (думаю да)

Thanks for the video and for showing this spacer in so much detail! I have the same issue with my bike, I even rode it with a creaky hub for a while and the spacer was completely worn, not much left of the teeth. Since I didn't have a replacement and the spacer didn't look 100% required (I was pretty sure this flimsy plastic part was just to prevent any rattling from mechanical play), I just threw out the spacer and am at the moment riding without the spacer. The hub works fine without spacer, the creaking is gone, but when I saw this video and the wear, I immediately bought a new black spacer and will install it very soon. Hopefully an intact spacer can prevent metal on metal contact and give the hub a longer life.

Hi every one, can I put the freehub of M8110 to replace on SLX M7110? Are the parts of these hubs same size?

The freehub body must be the same with these two. Check exploded view for your particular hub on Shimano web site to be 100% sure! 😉

Why did you go in for more suffering with this garbage design. Get a 400 or 500 hub with the paw ratchet system.

Hi! Indeed, I was thinking about getting MT510-B. It uses almost the same shell as XT. But finally I went for Hope Pro4 as a reliable choice for one wheel set, and decided to keep the XT on another. This way I can provide more proof data for XT on this channel. If the goal is just to replace the broken XT and save money, a 400 or 500 hub, like you advise, is the easiest and cheapest solution!

@@ZavyalovCycling I found out the 400 and 500 series have an aluminum freehub body: The steel paws pivot in aluminum pockets. I expect the aluminum to wear out eventually. Oh well, at least that can be replaced!

@@solarheat9016 Shouldn't cause any problems anywhere soon. Is the contact ring for the paws inside the hub shell made of steel?
