    I purchased the QST 92. It is a fantastic ski! I am 5’5” and 160 lb. I own the 161cm length. I’ve used them at Mammoth Mountain and Big Bear Snow Summit & Bear Mountain. It is really a versatile ski! When it gets deep, I switch to my Volkl Mantra which are 100 under foot.

    Thanks a lot for your great work! Is it worth spending almost double the money to get the QST 92 18/19 or should i opt for the cheaper and older model. I know that there are some differences in the materials used but i did not quite understand how that is going to affect the riding on-piste.

    Do you think adding more carbon and flax to the 2019 qst 92 gives it significant improvements over the 2018? I'm an advanced-beginner skier and looking for a ski to grow with. So I'm interested in the qst 92s rather than a dedicated beginner ski. The price difference between the 2018s and 2019s is pretty substantial for a grad student like myself so I want to make sure I made the right decision. Also, I am a female but hate the design of the qst lux 92s (particularly the 2018s--blegh!) Is there any difference between the women's qst lux and mens qst? I've heard Salomon generally makes the same ski for men and women. Thanks for your input!

    Hi great review. I recently skied the QST 92 and they were a tonne of fun. I found them light weight, easy to cruise around on and held a good edge when pushed. Unfortunately I couldn’t get hold of a demo pair of Blizzard Rustler 9. Do you have an insights on the comparisons between these two skis? Thanks.

  • @SkiEssentials

    @SkiEssentials

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hey Jay! Overall they're fairly similar, although the Rustler 9 has a slightly different feel. I often describe the Rustler 9 as feeling like a Brahma underfoot, but with rockered and lighter weight tips and tails. So, you get some pretty impressive power, stability, and vibration damping from the metal underfoot, but it's easier to pivot and smear than the Brahma. More maneuverable overall. The QST 92 feels lighter on your feet, and I think it feels a little more energetic than the Rustler 9 from the carbon and flax construction. Super quick, easy to flick around. The Rustler 9 has a little more heft to it.

Would you say the same for the 2019 92 QST? They can be found for half price the 2020 model and im looking for my first ski so half priced is good.

I'm Intermediate to Advanced skier - 5'8" (176 cm) 165lbs (74kg) - would you recommend qst 92, 99 or K2 pinnacle 95 mainly for fresh and soft snow (And what length: 177, 181 or 184/185 cm). I would say 60% on piste and 40% off piste.. I am looking for an agile ski for fresh and soft snow, to the terrain or on bumpy soft slopes. It will be the second ski for worse piste and terrain and fresh snow. Many thanks for answere gays.

    Hi, my first thought is try to make it to a demo day and try all three as well as others out and then make your choice. If that's not possible find multiple reviews on the skis you're contemplating and make the best judgement based on your preferred skiing terrain, ability, and what the reviewers opinions are. As far as cost, look at it as a spread over the years you'll ski them, my rule of thumb is to buy the best quality I can reasonably afford. Best of luck, buying new skis is exciting!

    I'd go 185 cm in the QST 92. It's pretty lightweight in terms of swing weight, and the rocker profile makes it manageable in longer lengths. In my opinion a 185 cm QST 92 and a 180 cm Rustler 9 ski fairly similarly in terms of perceived length.

    @@jangajdos1891 where do you ski? Are you saying you already have an all mountain ski and this one is going to be mostly for soft snow? If that's the case, I'd go QST 99. 181 cm isn't unreasonably long in that ski for your size, either. If this is your all mountain ski that you're planning on doing everything on and you don't get a ton of snow, might be worth dropping down to the 92 width.

    @@SkiEssentials Hi. Currently, I have sport ski on groomed slopes and I'm looking for all mountain ski, which will be my second ski for "worse" (or better:-)) snow conditions (fresh, soft and deep snow). I ride mainly on the slopes but when there is a lot of fresh snow it is hard on the sports skis. So that's the main reason why I'm looking for all mountain ski. Many thanks for your answer.

    First, a big thank you for your work. I got a lot more information with your videos than at any store in my area. I go back to skiing after more than 15 years. I am an advanced intermediate level, quite aggressive. I like to explore every corner of the mountain, bumps, woods, groomed trails and powder. I am looking for a versatile ski. I am an athletic big guy, 6'2 - 215 lbs. I ski mainly at Mont Sainte-Anne and Le Massif in the Quebec region. After viewing many of your reviews, I hesitate between Salomon QST 92 and Rossignol Experience 94 Ti 2019. Are these good choices according to the information above? If so, what would be your recommendation between these 2 models? Can other models be better? If yes, which ones ? thank you

  • @SkiEssentials

    @SkiEssentials

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Nicolas! Happy to help. At your size and because you're a fairly aggressive skier I think the Experience 94 Ti would work better for you than the QST 92. The QST 92 is awesome, but its lightweight feel might not be stable enough for you if you were skiing at high speeds. The Experience 94 Ti is a little stiffer and feels more stable at speed. It requires a little more skier input, but I think you'd do just fine on it. You should also consider the Nordica Enforcer 93. It uses two sheets of metal, so has excellent stability, yet the metal is relatively thin, so it's not overly stiff or two heavy. I also think its shape is a little easier in bumps and trees than the Experience 94. Kind of blends the maneuverability of the QST with the stability of the Experience 94. Definitely is worth considering. Let me know what you think! If you have more questions don't hesitate to ask away. SE

    I am not a skier looking only to go as fast as possible. I much prefer to have fun in the bumps, the wood and the edges of the track. In this perspective should I favor Salomon or Nordica? Another question, how long would it be better? Finally, I saw your video on the Salomon S / Lab Shift Binding and I wondered if it was worth it if I could give myself the option of doing backcountry occasionally compared to more standard binding. If no, which ones would you recommend to me? Once again , Thank you !

  • @SkiEssentials

    @SkiEssentials

    5 жыл бұрын

    Nicolas Fréchette I was going off your description of yourself being "quite aggressive." The QST 92 is definitely the quickest ski out of the three we talked about. Definitely easiest in the bumps and trees, and super fun playing around on the sides of trails too. If you're not skiing fast and want to focus on bumps, trees, etc I think the QST 92 is the way to go. In the QST 92 you'd either want to go with the 177 cm or 185 cm length. 185 cm is almost as tall as you, which might be a bit much as you're just getting back to skiing. 177 cm should be stable enough for you if you're not skiing exceptionally fast, and will be that much easier in bumps, trees, etc.
