THE BASICS:
Year: 2019
Make: Nissan
Model: Rogue Sport
Trim: S (the base model)
Type: subcompact SUV that seats up to 5 people.
Color: Magnetic Black Pearl (red...I'm sorry, "scarlet ember" is an extra $395)
Charcoal cloth seats
Wheels: 16 inch aluminum wheels
MSRP: $22,340 (base model)
+ For comparison, the Rogue starts at $25,020
+ The Rogue Sport is slightly smaller and has a 2.0 liter engine compared to the Rogue's 2.5 liter 4-cylinder.
+ And if you're curious, the cheapest and smallest SUV Nissan makes is the "Kicks" which retails for around $18,640
HISTORY:
+ Nissan has been making the Rogue since about 2007, but only started making the Rogue Sport in 2017. So this is still a fairly new vehicle.
UNDER THE HOOD:
Engine: 2.0L DOHC 160-valve 4-cylinder
Transmission: Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) with manual shift
Horsepower: 141 hp at 6,000 rpms
MPG City: 25
MPG Highway: 32
Combined MPG: 28
Fuel Tank Capacity: 14.5 gallons
Cost for a full tank: Regular unleaded gas. $3.12/gallon x 14.5 = $45.24
HANDLING:
Good. Corners well. Feels comfortable around long curves at high speeds. And you don't feel the bumps in the road too severely.
ACCELERATION:
Fair. The Rogue Sport is fairly quick, but it's not fun. For a smaller SUV like this, I really was expecting something much quicker off the line. But it performed fine in daily driving. Just don't expect to be the quickest car on the road.
CABIN NOISE:
Decent. I did have to bump up the volume on the interstate, but only by about 10%.

Funny how you just came out of another compact SUV! I like these, they've also added more value for 2019 with more safety features, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, a touchscreen audio system, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more... I'd pick this over the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport or Eclipse Cross. :)

The Rogue Sport is the Qashqai in Canada, btw. It really runs out of breath on long mountain grades or steep hills. The low engine horsepower and CVT is fine for flat city/suburban cruising. Otherwise, upgrade to a regular Rogue or better yet, a Mazda CX-5 or even a Kia Soul....

I just checked it out at a Nissan dealership. Just wanted to try out the seat, etc, didn't drive it. I found it quite comfortable, but the roof is squeezed down low on this model and I didn't have much headroom. I'm about 6' but a shorter person would have no complaints I'm sure.

Of all the design choices on Nissans my favorite is the little pocket in front of the center armrest for your phone. It's so easy to drop my phone in and it's only an inch away from your hand if you need to pick it up. My Altima has it and it's so much better than keeping my phone in the cup holder or storage bin under the radio. Anyway, a small detail but one more car manufacturers should do.

Agreed! Little design choices like that really make a difference (at least to me). Sometimes I think manufacturers forget to make cars useful/practical, because they're so focused on making a car look good.

I just bought a 2020 Rogue Sport and I have 2 major complaints that buyers should be aware of: It is grossly under powered and I have trouble accelerating when I suddenly need to, and second, it does't offer a dial pad on the touchscreen which I often need when in the middle of a phone call. If you are asked to select 1 for customer service, or 2 for the plumbing dept. etc, you can''t do it on your touchscreen because there is no dial pad. The dial pad is present on my 2018 Hyundai Kona but not on my 2020 Rogue Sport.

Cvt's do not last if you need to accelerate hard all the time. Stop putting yourself in those situations, or you will be replacing it. For best speed gains press the pedal moderately aggressive but not just instantly to the floor that does NOT give you the quickest speed gains. and have the CVT fluid and filters two by the way changed every thirty thousand miles Do not abuse that CVT and get it serviced or you will be replacing it.

Definitely not a fan of the "shelf" system in the back. Looks way to flimsy to support any serious hauling. I would bet that even just weekly grocery store runs would quickly ruin those thin things. Has decent enough tech though for a cheapo car. As always, love the quality of your videos. And if your job ever brings you down into GA, just let me know if you'd like to film a video with a luxury pickup. The camera is not kind to these cars. In reality, they don't seem that dirty, but the camera accentuates every little dust particle. And it's very possible I got the wheels wrong, I usually refer to the manufacturer's website to figure stuff like this out. But their sites are horribly unhelpful. Anyway, thanks for the comment. I'll try to be more accurate in the future.

I have the 2018 Rogue sport S; I traded in a 2016 malibu LT 1.5. I wish I kept the malibu. the Rouge sport S; I have is bare bone, cheap plastic interior all over. I didn't realize at the time this model "does not" have all the safety features and sensors the other rogue sports have. No lumbar support, eyes rolling hub caps(even chevy base 2016 malibu has rims) no keyless push-start or keyless entry, no adaptive cruise control, no 360 camera view, no power for rear passengers, no powered liftgate, no auto-on headlights, no way to turn off DRL lights(when I'm waiting to warm up my car, I don't want to shine light into my neighbors across the street windows at 5am), no exterior courtesy lights, no in-dash compass, boring, plain, none touch screen radio; that only uses your phone Bluetooth to play music and call function only!, no map app, Andriod auto or car play. Nissan is not giving much for this car for the price. My first Nissan I'm not impressed I will be trading this thing There is nothing sporty about this vehicle event tho it has sport mode steering setting.......it gets -2 stars....I'm going back to chevy.
