    Very reliable car, this rental car helped me move across the country, nearly 3k miles in 4 days and no breakdown. I put all of my stuff inside so I had to rely on the blind spot indicator everytime I changed lane and I find it really useful.

    See, I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes blind side detection. It is useful, right? And solid choice on an SUV to travel cross county in. I didn't mention this in the video, but seats are fairly comfortable.

    The panel you were messing with in the cargo area actually stand up and allows you to but bags of groceries behind it or down in the floor stargaze. Keeps your bags from sliding around and puking all of their contents into the cargo area. Very ingenious. I love it! One last thing you didn’t mention or didn’t even observe is that it’s very quiet riding on the highway. No wind noise or rattles. It’s very comfortable for long trips. Great review.

    Just got a 2018 Rouge SV myself. Upgraded to the Midnight Edition w/ the built in Navigation w/ 360 camera monitor. Love it. You get a lot of car for the money with Nissan. I agree with the reviewer that the center display and surrounding buttons could have been designed and implemented much better... but that you also adapt and it becomes "normal" soon enough. I likewise think the steering wheel controls could have been designed and laid out better (there is a size emphasis on the wrong buttons). And I also agree that the rear storage area could have been (should have been?) designed much better IMHO. But the rear storage system is indeed unique ("Divide-N-Hide Cargo System") and one can easily argue it's a feature that sways folks to actually get this car. Whatever. :) I am a fan of a more traditional rear like what you'd get in the Honda CRV. The Rogue loses too much interior width and height with their design. That said, I am adapting and have indeed already had special use cases where Nissan's flexible shelving and compartment set ups provided me solutions that just don't exist in other manufacturer's wide open rear storage designs. For example, normal grocery shopping... set up a wall to keep my bags from rolling around and contents spilling out. I find the car's pickup more then sufficient and even fun. Even the engine's growl under acceleration sounds much better then many competitor's whining turbo sounds. But sure, this car is not for racing to see who can get to the next red light the soonest! I'll see you there one second later. I also find the isolation from exterior road noise to be excellent for the category. The music audio sounds great. And yes, one of the main reasons I got a 2018 model year despite there still being so much remaining inventory of 2017 AND 2017.5 models (translation: STEEP discounts on those still new cars the dealers need to blow out) is that only the 2018 Rogues have Apple Carplay and Android Auto. I additionaly suspect having the 360 camera view of the area around my car will become a must have feature in any future car I will get - it's just that cool. Also the car's tailgate is not only electronic, but programmable AND has that kick-motion-under-the-bumper feature to open and close the tailgate handsfree! Other manufacture's cars in this category either don't have that; or it may only be available on their highest trims! Lastly, in addition to the Blind Side safety technology on the car, mine also has the Adaptive Cruise Control (not sure what Nissan calls it). The "Zero Gravity" seats are very comfortable (but granted I have not tried long trips yet to know how that will feel.) Anyway, I could go on, but yeah I am happy with the car so far.

    +nyed2ca Thanks for the great comment! And congratulations on your new Rogue. Glad to hear we mostly agree on the pros and cons. I only get a day or two with each car, so I REALLY like hearing from actual owners. I've never gotten to use Nissan's version of adaptive cruise control, only Toyotas version. I loved it. Just curious, but do you find it useful? Any hesitation to let the car take over? For me, it has a little strange.

  • @nyed2ca

    @nyed2ca

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yes got to use it for the first time just the other day - and not even on the Highway! (I believe most all manufaturers require a minumum speed before the cruise control can be enabled (25-45 mph depending on manufacturer I would guess.) I am very familiar with Honda's system - which actually is called "ACC" for Adaptive Cruise Control. And Honda makes a big deal of calling out when a model has ACC w/ "Low Speed Follow" - which is their car's ability to slow down to a stop; and then speed up again as traffic (or just the car in front of you) allows. So I was pleasantly suprised to find my Rogue doing the same thing after I triggered it on a normal city street (not sure what the minimum speed needs to be)... car in front of me comes to a full stop because of a stop sign... and low and behold... my Rogue brakes to a complete stop (with me nervously hovering my foot over the break pedal - just in case :) Then, as car in front of me pulls away, my Rogue speeds up to follow. (Of course I had the stop sign next so immediately disengaged by hitting the brake pedal.) But I was far enough back (as you can also set the follow distance from the steering wheel) to see my Nissan also had this "Low Speed Follow" componant as well. Cool. And yes, on the many Hondas I drive, I find the tech a sighnificant upgrade over "normal", now-prehistoric, cruise modes of cars that don't have it. Cheers.

  • @100RentalCars

    @100RentalCars

    First off, I had no idea that some cruise control systems have minimum speeds. I mean, it makes perfect sense, but I'd never even thought about it. Now I'm gonna try it out with my next rental. And secondly, the future is here! The car will actually come to a complete stop for you? That's crazy. I assumed only Tesla's autopilot could do something like that. Man was I wrong. I'm pretty sure most of the rentals out there don't have systems like this, for example, I know Enterprise disables the park assist features in their vehicles, but if I ever get a chance I would LOVE to play around with all these new systems. Super fascinating. Thanks for all the great info. And Happy New Year!

    nyed2ca a few weeks ago I test drove a 2018 SV, Midnight Edition,, in the pearl white color. I really liked it. I thought the black wheels look great against that white color. when you drive it are you able to see the speed you are going digitally?? I couldn't see that on the one I test drove, so I'm wondering if Nissan allows you to see it digitally. Enjoy your Rogue.

    Drove one of these (2016 though, I believe) while I was in Las Vegas and Kingman...I could not keep up with traffic at all. And the second day I got a check engine light! At 29k miles! The heck? Luckily Enterprise let me just drive it back and they gave me a 4x4 Grand Cherokee to drive. Now that was a great highway cruiser. The gas mileage difference was very noticeable though. :(

    I hate that you don’t cover the little things, like is the dash soft or hard plastic, how much cheap hard plastic is there, do the dials feel cheap or nice, and so on...... These things matter a lot to me. For example you compare a Hyundai Santafe 2014 to a dodge journey 2014 and the Hyundai has a lot of hard cheap plastic feeling and dodge is soft leather stitch. Anyway I wish you covered stuff as well.

But I'll try and incorporate a little bit more description in my future reviews. It won't be in next week's video (the 2018 Chevy Impala), because I've already filmed it, but I'll do my best to add it to the video after that. Because its sucks the fun out of driving, and it is noisy? Im sure its great for gas economy, but for me it just kills the product.

    The Rogue is a small car. At 6'2" it is tight in the rear, and it's narrow. Golf clubs will not go in cross wise so you can't fit 4 people and 4 sets of clubs. Rent a Murano and let us know how that compares.

    Murano? Done. I'll see if I can get one after the new year. And I didn't think about the golf club thing. You know, a while back I was actually measuring the cargo room with a tape measure. Maybe I'll go back to that. It's kind of a helpful reference to see just how big, or small, these cars are. Anyway, at 6'2" I bet most cars start to feel a bit small. What are you driving these days?

    Son is 6-5 he fits fine in back seat. 4 persons fit really well. Plenty of headroom and legroom.

    I own a 2018 Nissan Murano which was in an accident with a deer and is currently in the body shop getting repaired. My rental car while the Murano is in the shop is the 2018 Rogue SV, that looks very similar to the one you have in this video. For me, coming from a Murano, this is a very disappointing SUV. I'm 6'2" tall and 185# and I'm very cramped in the driver's seat. It's just not at all comfortable to me. And while people may think that the Murano and Rogue look very similar in size, nothing could be further from the truth. The Rogue is much narrower cutting down considerably in interior space. And the biggest difference is in trunk room. My wife and I are golfers and regularly carry 2 to 4 sets of golf clubs, with 2 - 4 adults in the car. In the Rogue, clubs sill only fit on an angle in the back, and 2 sets is a very tight fit. They have to be jammed in on top of one another.Then we have the decidedly underpowered 4 cyl. engine. It's pathetic compared to the 3.5L V-6 in the Murano. And the difference in gas mileage is not significant. I get 32 on the highway in the Murano and average about 26.5 overall. The Rogue in eco mode gets about 2 mpg more. Really not worth the difference.Yes, there is about a $10,000 difference in the 2 cars, but with the Murano you are getting a bigger, much more premium vehicle.

    I've never driven a Murano, but after reading your comment I'm going to put it towards the top of my list. Sounds like a nice ride. And I agree about the Rogue, it definitely isn't a "premium" vehicle, but it does have its good qualities.
